apparently we are in talks to get him.
1. does that mean the board already have the person in mind to take control of the team next season and are getting players he wants?
2. or is this an appointment by our current 'director of football' err... I mean chairman?

i hope its the first one.

It is no secret that we need more goals in the team, Eder and Gomis have simply not delivered and Paloschi, Ayew and this guy may give us better options if we can keep hold of Ayew.

In midfield, Gylfi is a solid 8-10 goal a season player now if you can keep him fit,

What we desperately need to improve on is goals from wide areas as none of our existing wingers are scoring on a regular basis, Barrow you would expect to provide a few more next year if he continues to develop.

Montero: 2 goals in 51 appearances
Routledge: 17 goals in 176 appearances
Barrow: 2 goals in 33 appearances

Bit unfair on Barrow who I think will have a major season next season.

Indeed. Barrow has started just 8 times out of those 33 apps. So his record goal-scoring wise is very misleading.

We are obsessed with these strikers that play off the last man lately. It's just not how we do things. Not on the pitch anyway. Strength, good hold up play, a hint of trickery and a decent finish is what we need. Nothing too flashy.
An option to change things up or maybe if he's versatile, can play behind the striker or on the wing as well. Fair enough. But we need a target man in our system realistically. That's if we play these systems next year.

Playing off the last man is fine, if you have the pace to get away. Neither Gomis or Paloschi have got this. I agree we need a target man though, but would still like to see us sign someone with genuine pace as a Plan B.

To think we actually discussed a move for Aubameyang during Laudrup's time here, imagine if he somehow pulled that one off.

Playing off the last man is fine if you get the ball forward quickly enough. We haven't done that since at least 2014.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

There is only one striker we should be pursuing (with the appropriate permission) that being Mr Bony,we have just caught a £5M cold with Eder and an even more expensive one with Gomis and Paloschi is still in the pending tray until next season. We know what we will be getting with Bony and that's where we should be going.
Just wondering though if this talk about interest in Bolanos is just his agent feeding the press.

No, it's white men who can't jump, as is my understanding of the 1992 film.

Tell that to the old Welsh Airforce. J Thoshack, Ron and Wyn Davies.

3 goals in 29 for MLS?

pass.

i'm all for giving players a chance to prove me wrong, but this is the kind of uninspiring signing that smells like the Eder signing. and at 6M? that's awful expensive for a player who has only ever scored goals for teams in Ecuador.

We should be wining and dining Bony's agent and putting that 6 million towards his fee to get him back here, in my opinion.
