I suppose the local Labour Party chose Stephen Kinnock off their own backs, which would have been difficult and surprising as not only has he never had anything to do with Port Talbot but was also based in Copenhagen at the time!
I suppose Assembly Welsh Labour candidate Jeremy Miles was selected by local Labour members too? He is presented in those terms, local boy living in Alltwen....but in reality he is the Labour establishment's choice. He belongs to a Labour pressure group called 'Progress' (pro business) and has been put up for election in Bedford (I think) and somewhere in Cardiff where he failed both times to be elected....they then tried to force him on Aberavon (where local Labour actually did rebel and reject him) before winding up in Neath. Aberavon got rid of Miles only to have Kinnock parachuted in.

There you have it. You're talking out of your @rse. You have literally no idea how the Labour party selects it's candidates. Time for some truths.
Anyone who is a member of the Labour party can stand for selection when there is a vacancy in a constituency. The only people who are allowed to vote to select a candidate are the members of that specific Constituency Labour Party. The only involvement the central party has is physically organising the selection meeting and paneling the candidates to ensure they all meet the candidate criteria set out in the Labour Party Constitution.
Aberavon didn't "get rid of Miles" at all. The vote to be Aberavons Labour candidate was between Kinnock and Miles and Kinnock won. The only people who voted in that selection were Aberavon members. There is no Labour conspiracy and your post is pretty childish and clueless. You're factually incorrect and I don't think you have got a scooby doo.
And yes, Jeremy was selected by the local members for Neath. I was in that selection meeting and I voted. Still no giant conspiracy
The Morning Star FFS. They should engage with the party instead of standing candidates against it, maybe then they can complain about the selections.

Mike Hedges more than happy with the status quo in regards to investment or more to the point, lack of it, in the rest of Wales compared to Cardiff.
Firstly trying to pass of the SA1 development and university campus as WG funded when it's not, then saying there is little direct in investment from WG in Cardiff or the rest of Wales (ignoring subsidies), and then saying the budget is evenly spent.
Incredible really.
To be honest, this just confirms everything I already knew about Hedges. I've spoken to him a few times and he is a complete mouthpiece, espousing all Labour policies, regardless of how it affects his constituents. Granted, I don't think all politicians should be public educated toffs, but an education of some respect wouldn't go amiss.
This is complete nonsense and he knows it. They paid a fraction of the cost towards the Bay Campus, and they gave away the money they made from selling land in SA1 for projects elsewhere in Wales.
Care to ask him, why the government spent more on the Millenium Centre, than they plan on spending on Swansea's City Centre regeneration? Or why they're not financially backing our city deal with half a billion? Or why they don't bring Pinewood studios/Aston Martin here? It's pathetic that we keep voting in these people who have no interest in fighting our corner, and would much rather petition Motd to stop putting us last. We really are the graveyard of ambition if this is what we see as effective representation.

They aren't giving the city half a billion because the City hasn't asked for it. The regeneration project is in a completely different stage to the one in Cardiff.
Back to going round in circles again.

How do we know they haven't asked for it? Our city deal was mentioned first, and there was a lot of rhetoric from Cardiff politicians saying, 'If we don't act soon, Swansea will beat us to it'. Ever thought that maybe theirs got off the ground faster because they were backed with half a billion? That's like saying, we haven't had a St Davids or a Millenium Centre or Cardiff Bay built for us because we haven't asked for it. This Uncle Tom attitude is what keeps us at the bottom begging for the scraps from the rich man's table.

Also I'd like to know what parts of Peter Black's or Kirsty Williams' careers prior to their time in politics is superior to Mike Hedges' background?
Mike Hedges "Originally a research scientist for British Steel at Port Talbot, Mike has spent the last 27 years as a senior lecturer in Pontypridd, specialising in computing and information technology."
- He worked at the Steel Works (much like my old man, Grandfather, uncles etc.) followed by a long career teaching IT.....please bear in mind we are talking about a bloke who struggles with modern IT tools to such a degree that his tweets regularly include hilarious mistakes which he puts down to 'auto-correct'. During the current Steel crisis he tweeted stuff like; "The cheese economy has slowed down so they are dumping steel on the world market. We need a tariff that will protect British steel" "@MikeHedgesAM should say Chinese economy auto correct has caught me again"
Kirsty Williams "Prior to her career in politics Kirsty worked at Carmarthenshire College and for a small business in Cardiff as a Marketing Executive.
Politics
"Kirsty joined the Liberal Party at the age of 15; since that time she has held a variety of posts within the party including Deputy President of the Welsh Liberal Democrats 1998-2000. She fought the Ogmore constituency in the 1997 General Election.
Following the Assembly Referendum in 1997 she was appointed to the National Assembly Advisory Group by the then Secretary of State for Wales, Ron Davies. She was selected to fight the Brecon & Radnorshire Constituency for the Welsh Liberal Democrats in 1998. She successfully won the seat in 1999 and became the party's health spokesperson and Chair of the Assembly's Health and Social Services Committee 1999-2003. Kirsty is Health and Social care spokesperson for the party. Kirsty successfully defended her Brecon & Radnorshire seat in 2003, 2007 and 2011. Williams has gained a reputation for campaigning on health issues. In 2012, the Welsh Government agreed to take forward the Welsh Liberal Democrat idea of a Health Technology Fund to allow patients better access to innovative treatments.[10] The following year, the Welsh Liberal Democrats achieved a further £9.5m investment into the Health Technology Fund as well as the establishment of a £50m Intermediate Care Fund to drive integration of health, social services and housing. Williams has been part of a long-running ‘More Nurses’ campaign for a law requiring minimum staffing levels for nurses in Welsh hospitals. In 2014, Assembly Members voted to allow Williams's proposed legislation on this issue to be taken to the next legislative stage.
In December 2012, Williams won ITV Wales' Assembly Member of the Year Award in a ceremony at Cardiff's City Hall. In the Queen's Birthday Honours 2013, Williams was appointed Commander of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for public and political service.
Peter Black "Before entering politics full-time, he previously worked as a research assistant for West Glamorgan Social Services and was a Registration Executive for the Land Registry for Wales."
Politics
"In November 2011 he took the lead alongside Welsh Liberal Democrats Leader, Kirsty Williams in negotiating an agreement with Labour on the Welsh Government's budget.[2] As a result, the Government introduced a Pupil Deprivation Grant, guaranteeing Welsh schools an extra £450 for each pupil in receipt of free school meals.
In 2013 he led for the Liberal Democrats on the negotiations for the Assembly budget alongside Plaid Cymru, securing a £100 million package including a doubling of the Pupil Deprivation Grant to £918 per pupil, a £50m intermediate health fund, £9.5m for investment in innovation in the health service and £5.5m for supporting people budgets.
He also steered the Welsh Assembly's first private member's bill to the statute book under its new powers. The Mobile Homes (Wales) Act 2013 received Royal Assent in November 2013, introducing a modern licensing regime for Park Homes sites in Wales.
On 10th December 2013 he was selected as the ITV Wales Yearbook Assembly Member of the year."

It goes on....
Then radio silence.
Well done for pressing him. He clearly doesn't have answers.
So, yes, we did have the museum, how about the new BBC HQ? Or Pinewood? Aston Martin? Cardiff Bay? Wales Opera House? Did they invest in the new ice rink there? Again, why aren't they backing the Swansea city deal? Why did they spend the money earmarked for SA1 on projects elsewhere in Wales? He's got no answers

Yeh, like I said, Mike Hedges resume is more than adequate to be a representative of any party. I genuinely cannot see how you can infer from his previous experiences that he is incapable of making an informed decision.
The fact that you slight him because of spelling mistakes on Twitter is pathetic. The "cheese" tweet you are referring to is obviously an autocorrect mistake. I often make mistakes typing things out too, that's life. But, instead, you seem to imply that this mistake wasn't carelessness, but stupidity.
I'm not sure it's Mike Hedges brains that should be in question here...

....for IT expert Mike Hedges' brilliant campaign video.
(Spoiler alert: He doesn't seem able to use his IT skills to get the video to start when it should or indeed finish when it should....and he has his own catchphrases; - "I'm very pleased to see..." - "...in the area")
Vote Mike. Look here he is in front of the Liberty Stadium. Here he is in the local paper sorting out the MOTD running order for us......FUKK MY EYES, SCLERAS, CORNEAS, PUPILS, IRIS', LENSES, RETINAS AND FUKKING OPTIC BASTARDING NERVES!!!
Nice_to_michu It was you in fact who said he had a better CV than Kirsty Williams and Peter Black....I just called him stupid. Which I stand by.
You may feel he is good enough to represent the people of Swansea East, you may feel he is more intelligent than myself. This says a lot more about you than me.
If you keep scrolling down you will find that he quite likes the word "fantastic" also
I had a face to face chat with him a while ago at one of his surgeries. After that, when he came back to me to list all the developments that had happened or were due to happen in Swansea East he actually had the gall to include the Liberty extension. An extension which hasn't happened yet and even when it does happen will not include a penny of WAG funding and will have had NOTHING to do with him.
I would never say that he's stupid but he certainly says some stupid things.

That's Welsh Labour policy. Take credit for things which happen in spite on them, not because of them.
Carwyn Jones took credit for the city centre plans (which haven't happened and they aren't investing in), and the Bay Campus (which they provided a fraction of the cost for).
Oh, did they mention also they built us a museum...

When I came on here Plaids vote went up, when I haven't been posting Plaids vote has not increased, there are indeed dark forces at play, the Swansea mafia hey. lol.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.
A poll has just come out and it has Plaid closing the gap on Labour, Labour on 29% and Plaid on 22% for the regional vote and for the constituency vote Labour is on 33% and Plaid on 21%.
Comparing figures to a poll at the same time of year in 2011 Labour's figures have gone down by 12% for both constituency and regional votes, Plaid are up 3% in one & 4% on the other over that 5 year gap.
Labour are still nailed on to win most seats in the up coming Welsh Assembly election [Plaid look like they can get 2nd spot] but Labour seem to be slipping year on year in Wales, are we only five years or a decade away from Labour actually losing an Assembly election in Wales ???
Polls currently suggest that Labour will get 28 seats out of 60 [so no majority], Plaid 13 seats, Conservatives 10 seats, UKIP 7 seats and Lib-Dems 2 seats. UKIP have never won a Welsh seat in the Assembly elections before and although they are set to win zero constituency seats [FPTP] they are set to win regional seats [which is a form of proportional representation], poor Lib-Dems might win two constituency seats but no regional seats.

Seems like the lovely Leanne is the most popular leader in Wales or at least her performance is rated very highly, Ms Wood has just received a strong poll figure as regards leaders performances as a leader of a party in Wales, she is way out in front of the opposition with a high performance figure, actually she would need binoculars to see the rest, Carwyn Jones figure is barely in positive territory with Jeremy Corbyn and David Cameron's figures both being big time into negative performance territory.

Labour normally throw in SA1 as well.
Yet they've failed to get the lock gates built and create the new marina which is the centre piece of the Sa1 development.
Money was supposed to come from Sa1 land sales but they took the money back to Cardiff.
Wonder how much money they make out of car parking in SA1 especially with three new temporary car parks being created.

I wonder if there will be a Plaid surge ? or will the Labour sheeple still hold sway with the silent Conservatives being a force and with UKIP attracting the disenfranchised.

Lets hope people realise that old Labour was killed by Blair and his mob and has let working people down by putting forward that unelectable odd ball red Ed. plaid is now led by the Rhonda rebel and is no longer a party solely defined by the language issue. Lets give our lovely Leanne the chance to speak up for Wales. She will as well. The polls are looking good - if you believe such things.
