The Official Norwich City v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 18:14 - Nov 7 by Jack_Kass | Our style of football used to be a great equaliser, in terms of us competing in this league Now we're another run of the mill team in terms of our style, we're slowly sinking in as just one of the rest who are flipping a coin every season as to whether they're going to stay up or not |
The last part of your post describes Coventry City for many years; eventually that argument went against them.

The Official Norwich City v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 18:18 - Nov 7 by Private_Partz | The bank balance is totally relevant. If you ain't got he dosh you can't pay. We lost shed loads shipping out MLs signings and then having to bring in replacements. Why release players if you cannot bring in better? It all goes on the balance sheet and we have spent up there with most of the clubs in our position. I accept there are notable exceptions. [Post edited 7 Nov 2015 18:20]

If fit, Pablo is just the kind of player who might have made a chance for us today. He got tired of the desert and went back to Spain on loan early this season.

Resting him is an option but I would sooner look at why we are not creating chances in the first place despite dominating possession. Gomis played most of the game between the halfway line and their box. He had no choice as precious little was coming from midfield or down the flanks.

The Official Norwich City v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 18:13 - Nov 7 by Private_Partz | I am not so sure he is a 'yes' man. I really hope he is not. They saw something in Gary and made the decision to appoint him and they have been successful on that front for years. The guy has been absolutely brilliant. The problem they have now is how to support him or sack him as performances are getting as bad as ML's and the end of his stint. Unfortunately European competition and unprecedented injuries are not part of the picture this time either...... |
I'd also like to think he's not a Yes man but his team choice leaves me no other option. He has 2 weeks to get that team performing and at least tell the team Go Forward and test the ferking goalie by hitting the ball in the oppositions net. WTF is Beattie coaching Gomis to do ?????? FFS give Trundle the role he couldn't do any worse and at least we;d save a wage Beattie's gotta go Now.

I'm not so sure they saw it in him than it was him reminding them of how he could do things better than was being done at the time. Of course back then we had a split in the camp and 6/7 first team players injured which explained the indifferent form , Monk doesn't have that yet the football is worse and has been eroding away for months . I want to see the players play their hearts out for him next game, if they don't may as well get rid as it would mean he has lost the dressing room. The body language of the players is very telling these days. Shelvey seems to be a pet project of Monks too, it's almost like garry thinks Jonjo is the only one that make a creative pass.

Indeed. Also Chico was providing all sorts of outlets from defence as well. Canas would have been useful at a time like this as well. Having said that we did absolutely fine last season. It is the signings is year and our inability to blend them into a team is the problem IMHO.

I keep hearing that said, but other Strikers MAKE chances, they don't need them given to them on a plate. Today he was even too slow to beat a defender to a through ball even though the defender was facing the other way. Unless he is already running on to a through ball he can't get to them first. He never seems to be in the right place to get on the end of headers or ground crosses, so it must be the crosser's fault. I like the way you are all defending him, but at the moment he is not inspiring the rest of the team. But he did put in a lot more effort today, wasn't off side any where near as much and even made a tackle, although it was a foul. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Careful Ice. We are going to be branded Monk haters again. Where is Darren btw? ;-) I don't despite anything you say. I thought his appointment was reckless but it worked out and we improved our league position. It is now telling timesfor Gary. If he refuses to squad rotate plus play Leon and/or Corky then I can see grim times ahead for him and us.

There is far more to managing a team than simply writing down who you think are our best 11 players or our most expensive 11 players or most highly paid 11 players. Or even our 11 most popular players. Not sure which it is, but I definitely feel we are not picking our best TEAM whereas Leicester and C Palace, for example, do which is why they're doing well. Others, like Villa, Norwich, Bournemouth and Sunderland simply don't have enough players good enough for this level which is why they're struggling. But we do and we need to blend them into a team which is greater than the sum of its parts like we have done many times in the past.

What has happened to all the gains that the "Team", including management made last year to break so many records? What has changed, someone must know.
The Official Norwich City v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 18:56 - Nov 7 with 1783 views | midswan | Think it was mentioned today that we have only used 15 players this term,so much for 2 for every position. Agree with the above but it looks like we are 'accomodating' players and not usingthe squad/others.

I reckon you're right there. And, imo, and as others have said, step 1 is the inclusion of Cork or Britton in the regular line-up.

What the feck is wrong with you? Everything you accuse others of you are doing yourself here. What do you mean the Monk doubters were right? They were always going to be 'right' one day weren't they? Nothing lasts forever but stop trying to point score ffs. We're in trouble and I don't give a fook about what he said and she said... It does need sorting out. We're so bad, Chelsea have nearly caught us.

The Official Norwich City v Swansea City Matchday Thread on 19:46 - Nov 7 with 1513 views | RuDeMan1970 | I am now in the position of feeling exactly the same as when Jackett's reign was coming to an end, that is to say I think we have the players but not the right coaching staff to get the best out of them. Along came Roberto and the positive effect was immediate. I feel that:- Garry has tried to alter the style of play too much, making us pedestrian, predictable, toothless...and, yes, bloody boring to watch. His substitutions are become increasingly baffling (Eder for Shelvey on 87 minutes???) His appointment of his good friend Beattie has been nothing short of disastrous with our sole aim now appearing to be to lift the ball up to the head of the increasingly poor Gomis. His refusal to alter the starting line-up (Ayew to lead the line instead of Gomis anyone?) His decision to allow Dyer to go to a rival on loan...for the season...with no recall clause...was questionable. Our failure to pick up points against the 'lesser' sides is sowing the seeds of our downfall. We have the run-in from Hell this season; a similar run-in which eventually sealed the relegation for both Norwich and Hull in recent years...and at a time when the European internationals in our squad will have one eye on the June Euros. I am totally resigned to relegation at the end of this season unless things change drastically. Monk has - apparently - already ruled out the prospect of him having an older head at the club to advise him, which to me means either he changes or he himself gets changed by the board.
