Not even league 2 standard and driving around in a £100k car. Says it all really doesn't it.
One of the reasons why I don't have a Twitter account, I would be banned.
I've not wasted one minute of my life, I've cherished everything, and this idiot needs to have a sit down and a serious word with himself. Spoilt idiot.

Then despite what anyone may think, you are infinitely richer than he is !

I've just had a look at his Twitter account, all pretty much look at me stuff, cars, girlfriend, holidays etc. Hasn't done a days work in his life, it's about time he did. And of course be aware of the more relevant things in life, family before fortune. For me that makes me extremely rich, as I am sure it is for you Lisa. It's the little things as they say, and in his case one day, maybe he will see the same.
Anything which has meant that by the age of 26 you're able to invest in £100k cars, hardly counts as a 'waste of time' though does it? Unless he was otherwise destined for a sparkling career in brain surgery or something of course.
It's not just about money though is it, it's about having a dream probably for the best part of 20 years.

The problem is kids now think they've 'made it' once they are 17 and have made a handful of appearances for the reserves. They have a huge salary compared to most of us, flashy cars and houses...no wonder they don't feel the need to put the effort in.

Yeah cause £400 a week is a huge salary, in football terms, that 19 year old Ben Davies was on.
No, but say we pay them 2k... it only takes a Ben Davies or a Joe Allen sale to pay 15 of those youngsters for a decade.
I don't begrudge them the money. I'd have done it too if I was good enough at football. Just pointing out that implying they aren't highly paid is absurd

I don't begrudge them the money either as long as they're good enough.....unfortunately Curtis Obeng wasn't.
I don't begrudge them the money especially as half of it is taken back in tax and if it's not rubbed in normal people's faces. But for a guy who's contributed nothing for four years to speak out against his former employer when that employer will have been paying him the best wage of his life is joke. Shows how much of tw @ the bloke is

Well in which case he could have put in a bit of work for it.
Tell you what's interesting. I looked briefly at his twitter account after it was posted on here and also at Gorre's and Hanley's - I haven't seen any of them before.
Gorre's and Hanley's had pictures of them in Swans shirts, with team mates etc as their header. Obeng's had two pics of his £100k car.
And that is why he hasn't made it and has been bombed out I suspect.
No it doesn't. £400 a week is less than £20k a year after tax. Doubt any of them have a merc or their own house on that wage.
The amount players that come through the youth set up get paid is utterly irrelevant when it comes to discussing players like Curtis Obeng. i would guess £400 a day would be closer to the mark.

I thought exactly the same thing. Looks more like a bling bling rap star than a professional athlete .
I've always felt that youngsters earning vast sums of money should have a large percentage of it paid into a trust fund that they could not access until later. However that would probably infringe on their human rights to act as a complete and utter tw@.
I understand - and maybe not correctly ? - that one player signed for our u21s is on £7k per week. To say nothing of another young player that we have recently paid out over £1 million pounds for. I do think that some the lads work very hard every day and to class them all as big time charlies is simply not fair.
