Montero looks promising there. We was unlucky but whatever happens a top 10 finish is still well within our reach.

I'll respectfully disagree. We've played like that for 4 games and haven't been pleasing to watch. Edit; we've not been pleasing to watch for longer than 4 games... [Post edited 4 Mar 2015 21:46]

Yep, forget about 7th and Europa, 8th is the best we can do. Stoke now above us, but at least West Ham lost So did qpr, so not all bad tonight

I thought we played well in the first half but just seemed to switch off for 35 minutes in the second.

The Official Tottenham Hotspurs v Swansea City Matchnight Thread on 21:43 - Mar 4 by HugeEnkins | Montero HAS to start. WTF are we doing without him?! It's not working FFS. |
apart from the last 2 matches. think we'll see a bit more of him from now on though, he does make an impact. swans seemed more entertaining to watch tonight at times, we have to do a number on spurs next season - they have become our bogey team

The Official Tottenham Hotspurs v Swansea City Matchnight Thread on 21:42 - Mar 4 by lovejuicejack | Easy to say in hindsight but monk should of changed line up as soon as we went behind. Missed a trick again. |
To be entirely fair, when Montero first came on we went through about a 15 minute stretch where we barely touched the ball. It wasn't until the last 5 that we actually really started to perform, and we came awfully close to nicking a point out of this one. I thought we played well first half, fell off early 2nd half and gave up two quick goals because of it, then woke up late. Not a terrible performance, against lower tier sides, that will be good enough for a lot of wins...but you can't switch off like that against the Big squads. Liverpool will be interesting...not sure how we'll do against a squad that is so on form.

I'll respectfully wholeheartedly agree! I thought there was a good work rate throughout and we tried to play. Better than we've been for a few weeks.

So if 8th is the best we can do, I would like to see us play a higher tempo, more attacking style of football for the remainder of the season and see where that takes us. If we lose every game, at least they might be entertaining. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I hate Spurs......................

The Official Tottenham Hotspurs v Swansea City Matchnight Thread on 18:10 - Mar 4 by Glyn1 | We've had 11clean sheets so I don't think that we'll get a pasting. I've just put £5 on Gomis to be the 1st goalscorer at 7/1, so come on Bafe! |
i had a fiver at 7/2 that gomis would faint, apparently he's got more chance of fainting than scoring a goal.
The Official Tottenham Hotspurs v Swansea City Matchnight Thread on 22:14 - Mar 4 with 2158 views | airedale | Looking at the positives, at least we've finally got a song for Bafe. He faints when he wants, he faints when he waaaaants........

Good effort. Maybe next season, with a full squad and decent striker and backup, we will threaten to take points off them at WHL

Hmm. Ok first half with little in it, we were containing them quite well. But when Spurs upped the tempo second half we had no answer. Far to slow and negative for me, and a nightmare waiting to happen playing so lopsided against a team with 2 full backs who like to Bomb on. We don't seem to want to take the initiative. This is turning into Sousa's team the way things are going. Great effort at the end, but too little too late. Hey, ho. Onwards and sort of upwards.

"We don't seem to want to take the initiative.", what game were you watching? Their second goal came from our attack, they cleared the ball off the line to save a goal and kicked a longish ball for counter attack. Ho is the "We don't seem to want to take the initiative."? It was attacking football.

Not taking the initiative doesn't mean not having an attack ever. Our play is pedestrian at best. We could, and probably should have lost that game by a lot more given the chances Spurs had. I'm gutted lloris made that save at the end but if it had gone in it would've been harsh on them. All this 'we lost by 1 goal in an end to end thriller' is bonkers!
