Not so sure they would go down. He did not have much to work with at Cardiff. His teams play similar stuff to Pullis so could be a good match.

Would suit them well in my opinion and prob do a decent job. Cardiff were awful and he was doing 'ok' with them.

The OP spelt his name wrong too...

Nah, with hindsight he wasn't.

Squad was entirely set up to play counter attacking whilst lacking the key element to that strategy, namely pace and a goalscorer. Key signing was Cornelius, for 8.5m rising upwards. Vastly overpaid, wages massively over his Danish wages, looked lost even at training. Given no. 9 shirt by Mackay, bigged up only for Mackay to try to save face by later claiming he was "one for the future".

As at Watford, faded second half of each season - promotion season, one win in last ten.

Simon Jordan was commenting last night, didn't appear to be a fan of Mackay. Given the lack of job offers to him at a time when his publicity was highest, can only assume chairmen and boards see something other than the PR.

Poll: 94th minute; Medel does Charlie Adam, causing a career ending injury. Do you..

The red birds would have stayed up with him in charge it was golum who sent them down, malky would do a good job for palace

the more chaos and upset is good news. gutting for palarse fans but everyone else who might be in the shake up it has to be a good thing. I'd love to see the wheels fall off a west ham over the next couple of months. surely that'll see them favs for the drop along with southampton.

As for Malky being a decent manager I just don't see it. Cardiff bought promotion at the umpteenth attempt and I think they would have gone down had he still been in charge. I haven't seen a string of clubs beating a path to his door for employment and a couple of jobs you'd think were tailor made for him as well in Narwich and celtic.

Last two games under Mackay we were 3-0 down at half time.

His much vaunted strategy led to us having how many shots against, how many shots for?

The problem OGS had was simple. You can see how he wants to play - amongst other things, full backs getting forward. Fabio was a good buy, done well at left back. Declan John can get forward too, there's that side tied up.

Problem was then on the right, mostly KTC. Brayford, who could play that role had been bombed out by Mackay to Sheff Utd for the season.

Add in the fact we had no goalscorer, add in the fact Malky had set the squad up to counter attack with no pace - let's not forget, Craig Noone wasn't used by Mackay the first ten games, then the squad simply wasn't there to play the way Mackay wanted.

He'd be a step backwards for Palace.

So if Malky was so rubbish lets ask three simple questions

1. Why was his Premier League record better than OGS?
2. Why did you all want him to stay when your owner wanted to sack him?
3. How did your CEO retain his job if these signings were so overpriced s he would have had to sanction the spend

Yours in anticipation

1. Squad wasn't setup for the way OGS wanted to play. Hence the turnover in summer. EDIT: Equally, look at the results before Mackay was fired. Defence even more under siege, started conceding, we were creating even less.
2. There were plenty of people loving Malky due to him throwing a mean fistpump.
3. CEO went in summer. What I suspect was that at that point the club view was that Moody/Mackay knew what they were doing, could be trusted. You can't deny that the transfer dealings have been vastly different from Jan onwards.

Rubbish? I'd say that's possibly too strong. As I said, Mackay has the potential, but was vastly aided by the money spent the year we went up.

Mackay - Campbell as the main striker.
Ole - brings in Guerra, Macheda, Le Fondre for around 2.5m. Divide that sum by 3. brings each to around the same fee paid for Campbell.

I don't think it matters who takes over now, it'll take someone else, like Pulis did, to come in and make a big impact if they are to stay up and I can't see that happening, even if Malky does take over. Palace Burnley and Leicester to go down for me. We'll be safe no probs!

The exhausting spin of Reddy the Red. As I said at the time, Cardiff got rid of their only chance of staying up when they booted him.

Its just a ride...

Libellous that.

I don't believe that's the case anyway.

Tan didn't appoint Mackay, think it was a combination of bad transfer dealings in the summer along with style of play / results.

Those bad transfer dealings haven't quite been that disastrous in hindsight have they.

He struck me as a bit of a tactical dinosaur but he signed well enough with one hilarious exception didn't he?

Not really. Overpaid on Medel, Cornelius was an utter joke - and let's not forget Malky in an interview a while ago pointed out how great the recruitment policy was; massive dossiers on potential targets, all watched at least 6 times etc... high character players and so on.

Praised Declan John, saying if it hadn't been for slow and steady Taylor, he'd have played 30-40 times in the Championship the season before. Except when Taylor missed some games, Malky instead loaned in, and eventually signed on a free Simon Lappin, who had made something like 4 appearances for Norwich in 3 years.

Velikonja, Malky target, 1.5m Nowhere near good enough. Tommy Smith given new contract, named in the 25 man squad, was never in the 18 man squad. Max Amondarain, uruguay u21 player on a free, DVP player atm.

Regardless, the common factor was a general lack of pace. Were they all disastrous signings like Cornelius? No. Did they necessarily make the squad one to stay in the Prem? No. A lack of goals and a lack of pace.

People want freedom of speech but also the ability to avoid responsibility for their comments.

The rumours coming out have been bizarre and not proven. Why should Phil et al be exposed legally due to comments you want to make?
