Your First/Last away game? on 12:22 - May 23 with 1845 views | ParkinsGimp | Mind is clouded so far back but was at Grimsby when our keeper broke his leg and think they lent us their reserve keeper for a while? Not sure of the year maybe 1970 in Div 3, but have been Grimsby a few times , it was a long drive no motorways then LOL I probably did a Huddersfield or Bradford before that but cant rememeber. Sure it was Feb '82? That all white home kit was worn the season after. Unless it was used as an away kit the year before?

Definitely Feb 82. I think that was a kit they'd picked up from somewhere like Butterworth's to avoid a clash, as we played in blue at home and our away kit was red & green. Purple mustn't have been available.
| When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf? |

Excellent clash-avoidance. Looks like the one we went on to wear at home the year after: The most non-Dale home kit ever. Similar situation to when the commercial manager of the time had us wearing the 93/94 white shirts and royal blue shorts 3rd kit at home the next season. Rumour had it that because fans had said it was the best kit in a fanzine questionnaire, it would sell well as a home kit. Those same fans would have pointed out the issues with making such a change. This may sound familiar. And he had us wearing orange away.

Your First/Last away game? on 19:13 - May 23 with 1679 views | RAFC1907 | First Home game: Hull City felt like we won 2-1 but may have got beat by that score or drew 95/96. (Hard to take in a child think we had a goal dissalowed) First Away: Halifax 0-0 draw last Barrow season. Last Home: Cheltenham ,PPPPPPPromotion. Last Away: Newport, great end to chapter.

Hull at home was 96/97, L 1-2. Alex Russell scored for Dale and was then subbed. Although it was his first season, fans were starting to realise about Barrow by then. Surprised you ever went away again after that Halifax game. As depressing as it got watching Dale.

I watched that Halifax game on teletext in a bar on Cyprus. Given that it was an early kick off, teletext wasn't even on a rotation with other goals coming through. I thought it was the biggest waste of time ever until I spoke to people who'd been at the game.

Kevin Hulme certainly wasted his time going in goal.

Your First/Last away game? on 19:43 - May 23 with 1643 views | Dickydaler | I think my first away game was in the 1968/69 season. Stoke City v Man City at their old ground. I'm not sure but I think Stoke won. I remember going by train with my older brother. It was a bit of eye opener for me. There were nearly as many police on the train as there were fans! My last away, as many peoples, was this years Newport game. And I certainly enjoyed that one a lot more than the Man City game.
