Match day thread: Sunderland V Swansea City on 14:31 - May 11 by MattG | Would love to know the thinking behind this team selection. |
It's pretty obvious what his thinking is. Next season.

End of season game I accept, but depending on results it could cost us £4.8m in league placing |
He might learn if Bartley and Amat is a decent partnership? He might learn a bit about Fulton? He might learn that making so many changes is not good? Who knows.

Things like that come from the training ground, and then bring players into a team playing with confidence. imo not fair on a player to prove his worth in an unsettled team.

Not really being asked to prove their worth I'd imagine. More giving them an opportunity to show what they can do in a competitive game.

Just different words. The opportunity should be given when the rest of the team is fairly settled and on the same wavelength allowing the player to be more relaxed In Garry we trust

If Monk is inclined to view this as a training match I am sorely tempted to watch the competitive fixture on Merseyside instead.

Should have been left out months ago IMO Defence Rangel is injured would you rather Jazz? So Tiendalli has to play. Taylor is our best left back ffs. Armat has proven himself better than Chico and deserves his place. Bartley may just may be the big commanding centre half (ala Caulker) we been crying out for. Only one way to find out Midfield. Fulton? We need to see if he's up to it ala Bartley. Attack. Emnes. Has done well and deserves to start and to stay There are people on here who I feel wouldn't be happy if we were in ManC position today! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I'd rather Prosser ahead of Tiendalli. Otherwise no problem with the selection at all. He's got to experiment sometime.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

it's almost as though many are choosing to forget the last game of last season where we played a 'strong, competitive team'. Oh right.... that went well. But of course that wasn't Garry Monk in charge was it.

Putting aside the number of changes. Would the experimenting have been better at home last week than now against Sunderland?

The only fixture that matters is in manchester isn't it? Unless you want a laugh in which case legotown. I'll be watching my team only, and seeing how some important understudies get on. As I understood it, the position money is the players incentive bonus anyway? Would make perfect sense, lower wages and large incremental bonuses.
