Wish it was as cut and dried as that. Of course the referee is influenced if a player keeps going to ground too easily. Refs can't see everything from every angle and are going to make some incorrect judgements but I still don't recall the game getting out of control. I don't recall any "not fit to referee" chanting but maybe I had my hearing aid switched off. |
| Forum Reply | Chair - positional change at 12:26 28 Jan 2025
I think Rangers are a better team with Chair on the left. It gives an easy outlet for Field which stops the ball going backwards. It makes Paal play better as Chair usually holds on to the ball. The balance of the team is better. The current scenario of Chair starting and Saito replacing him after 70 mins seems to work well. I worry that when Dembele is fit it will change the balance. We might start losing the ball in midfield too much which will put us on the back foot |

I am sorry but I just don't agree with you. The dark arts of throwing yourself to the floor, time wasting, faking injury, keeper going down to have a tactical chat etc. etc. were just not that prevelent in the game v Sheff W. As much as I like Smyth as a player, it is usually 50/50 as to whether he is actually fouled or he throws himself to the ground. It makes it difficult for the referee to book the players when 3 times before he has dived. I suspect, but am only guessing, that most of the bookings that you believe should have been given to Sheff W were for fouls on Smyth. I hate all these tactics at attempting to con referees. Sadly we do it just like most other teams. I am just trying to make the point that the refereeing of this match was no better or worse than other matches and there was no need to call out the ref in this instance. I apologise for saying that you were blaming the ref for losing. You clearly weren't |

No, I was watching the same game. Dont recall any major blunders by the ref that had any material affect on the game. I also don't recall any Preston / Pearson style time wasting that he failed to act upon. All refs make mistakes but that ref was definitely far from the worst. I guess you need someone to blame for losing |

Can’t see the reason for this post. No contentious issues yesterday - ref was ok except for getting conned a couple of times (usually by Smyth). No nasty tackles, no outrageous time wasting. Sheffield W we’re just that little bit stronger physically and tactics-wise on the day. |

Agree - Leicester played their strongest team while we rested a few. After the first 10 minutes, most of which I couldn't see, I thought we played some of the best football i've seen from the Rs this season. Thought Varane, Paal and Chair were all excellent. Let's face it, they were ruthless punishing our mistakes. Even the 6th could have been avoided. 6 shots on target 6 goals. No mistakes from Walsh but I reckon Nardi would have stopped a couple. Penalty was just unfortunate. Dunne would have blocked a couple and would have caused havoc from corners. I was actually encouraged by the performance. The stats showed it was fairly level game except the goals -commentator on the stream I was watching said the result was cruel on Rangers. We're definitely going in the right direction. |
| Forum Reply | Paal at 18:12 27 Dec 2024
Paal is a decent left back, good going forward but pretty average on the defensive side. Problem yesterday was he had nobody to pass to. Every attempt ended with Saito losing it, Koli being outmuscled, Field passing it back to Fox, JCS or Nardi. I also don't think he got much assistance from midfield tracking back. Only reason that we appeared better in the second half was not Ashby coming on, it was Chair being able to hold on to the ball. Also Swansea downed tools second half. I like Ashby but he makes too many mistakes playing at left back. As mentioned by others, there is a lot more to worry about elsewhere in the team. We seem to have a lot of players who can do it at Loftus Road but can't away. Koli and Saito are definitely 2 of those. |
| Forum Reply | fury v uysk 2 at 15:07 18 Dec 2024
This is just another boring fixed fight. Fury will jog around for 5 rounds putting a few jabs together. Usyk will get him with a few punches in the sixth which will miraculously put fury on the floor. Ref will stop it before he gets hurt so he can con the public with a last fight with AJ. Plenty of other fights to get excited about - not this farce. |

Apologies - correct , not a nasty thread. I was more commenting on the post that I replied to. However, Ashby does not need to be singled out. Koli did nothing, Saito had probably his worst game, Anderson was very poor etc. etc.. |
| Forum Reply | Ashby at 08:58 15 Dec 2024
I’d better f*ck off then. I rate Paal and I think he made a difference when he came on. He is obviously not 100% fit hence being on the bench. He’ll be back when he is fully fit. Frankly, this is a nasty thread. Ashby tried his best and MC plays him out of position as he offers more of a physical presence than Saito. He didn’t have a great game but not many did.I also like his attitude for a loan player - never moans when he is subbed. He shouldn’t be singled out when the midfield and strikers couldn’t put 2 passes together. |
| Forum Reply | Sam Field or no Sam Field? at 10:01 9 Dec 2024
Respectfully, you might notice Morgan giving the ball away more because he doesn't always swivel and pass it backwards, he tries more forward options and not the easy way out. We haven't won at home all season and frankly the football has been dreadful. Now we have won and against a supposedly decent team, everyone seems to want to revert back to what we were doing before. I just don't get it. Yes, Field was MOM v Watford but we are going to play Oxford at home and we should stick to what we did v Norwich. Maybe bring back Field when we play a more defensive away game. |
| Forum Reply | Sam Field or no Sam Field? at 17:10 8 Dec 2024
Agree 100% MC must keep an unchanged side for Oxford game and until we start losing. We won yesterday by getting right into Norwich faces for pretty much the whole game. When we win the ball high up we need to be more positive like we were yesterday. As with Chair and JCS, Field should wait to get his place back. |

You go on and have your revolution. I won't be joining. If you want immediate success, suggest you pop down the road to Brentford or Fulham. Just have some patience. Even if we do get relegated, it might do us some good. I think we are much more likely to dissappear into the conference if the board and the owners decide that they don't need the aggro of fans protests etc. and pull out. |

Didn't see many complaining when we were signing all these players. I think most were actually complimentary about us having a clear out and a policy of signing younger, exciting players with potential. I think we need to give it more time before we start sacking everyone in sight. I believe MC is still learning about the EFL and needs to develop a plan B in line with the capabilities of the current makeshift team instead of sticking to his philosophy of playing out from the back which 9 times out of 10 gets us in trouble. |
| Forum Reply | Mark Robins sacked at 19:24 7 Nov 2024
Crazy decision. Have enjoyed watching his brand of football over the last few years. No loyalty in football anymore. Hope they get relegated now. Also hope we buck the trend and keep MC even if we get relegated. |
| Forum Reply | Celar - Nothing Again at 20:42 26 Oct 2024
He has been absolute pants so far BUT with a midfield that would rather pass back to the defenders /keeper than take a chance with a quick forward pass, he is made to look even worse if that is possible. Thought we were embarrassingly bad today. Exceptions were Cook, Nardi and Saito. Cifuentes looked ultra p'd off but he picks the team and needs to start sorting it out. Amazed that Morgan was not in the starting line up after his performance v Coventry. |
