That was a silly thing for him to say given it had been sold out by the government years previous. Being in or out of the EU would never save steel making in Port Talbot......writing on the wall was already in place even before leaving the EU was first mentioned. |

He might have been up to speed for ligue 2 but Championship is another level or 2 again, he needs to adjust and they will be working on his fitness and conditioning. Some players take to it quicker and others need a bit more time. It's dilemmas that we could do without but under the circumstances we have to with it. Any updates on Ginnelly? We could really do with him back even if it was bedding him in from the subs bench. |

Going off subject but will be the same effect, keep an eye out with education and schools down the years......this will be the next one. Mismanagement at the top, budgets being pushed to higher management who do less teaching with few teachers now doing face to face teaching. Teachers unable to see the real issue and pushing for more money which isn't solving the main problems......people are becoming so obsessed with earning more money that they are becoming blind to what they are already being paid to do and not seeing the real issues. Off topic I know but I see so many similarities with what has happened with the steelworks demise to what is currently happening in the Schools. |

Fingers crossed on these plans but I don't hold up much hope unfortunately. I think the town will get through it but I feel there is going to be a bit of a culture shock for some families who have members working there currently, seems to be a bit of an attitude that things will be OK rather than being a bit more cautious. Myself and my mates have discussed recently how so many people who are in the works are going on holidays, buying new cars and all with the explanation that they have been told they are OK....not heard of one person who has said that it looks like the end for them, these are guts who need work with mortgages and children. It's a concern looking in from the outside, hopefully things work out for them but it seems to be an attitude that they are going to be fine because someone has said they will. I still think there is a bigger story to come from this unfortunately. |

Still something to come with the PT steelworks. Most people I have spoken to or heard from a 3rd party reckon their job is safe and/or been told they are OK. A lot of people in the steelworks are still spending money on the basis they have been told they are OK. I think come the new year there is going to be a daily news....there isn't much caution at the moment. |

Not seen it but read this morning that Williams said the depth of the squad is not holding them back! We all know, even Williams knows that is not true but I would have hoped he would have suggested that rather than say what certain people want him too say. I understand that they pay his wages but in today's world then an opinion can't be scoffed at. |

It happens but clubs need to lower their fees, it can be done if a player is intending not to sign a contract and go in a free.......the club selling will see 200k as an example as better than nothing. There is always a possibility that none of them intend signing a contract with us but I wouldn't say it's 100% the case with 3 of them. It's currently a shall we do this or that with the need still to strengthen come January or pushing on with contract renewals.....this is where the incompetencey of the owners have left us and it all falls down to their poor planning and organisational skills because they don't involve themselves enough. |
| Forum Reply | Cabango and Darling. There is no money. Try logic. at 09:04 28 Sep 2024
The owners are the guys who control things regardless to what is said by some, they dictate the budget with both wages and fees. The team is left short with a little budget left, it's done to cut costs and I fully understand that but there is a massive concern given the amount we have brought in over the last 7 years in player sales but yet we still find ourselves in this position.......it cries clear organisation, we have seen this and most notably last summer's absolute clusterfook of a transfer window when we signed 2 right backs even with us already having Naughton on the books and then followed up with signing 3 left backs! The owners need to be more involved and realise that losing Cabango and Darling especially will cost the club financially and on the playing field. Blaming chairmen and others employed by the owners will always lead back to the owners, they picked them and they hired them so it always starts from the top down. |

The guys in charge certainly have a lot to answer for.....football economics is just an excuse for poor planning. . January will need to see big movement and will certainly highlight the club's planning especially of our 2 main centre halves have not signed a new contract......it could certainly create an headache if we are in a good position in the league or God forbid in a bad one. Just like the lack of squad strength, I would suspect the club are prepared to take the route of 'let's see how it goes' instead of getting things in place and cementing their words of having plans moving forward. |

If no one considers buying them, we are then going to lose them for free if they don't sign a contract. It will cost us as much or more to replace. As it stands, we have no senior centre half under contract past the summer...........that is not only a massive job off the pitch but a far bigger one to sort on the pitch. We were left short in the transfer window, we are now being left short in a very important position due to lack of thrust within the boardroom. If as you suggest that we can get 2 out of 3 on new contracts then your post really heighten the lack of panning of the decision makers.......i do question the 2 out of 3 suggestion though. Club has made better strides the last few months but the grand reality is that they are still a million miles from being a well planned unit. |

Awfully managed by the club considering they said there would be more planning. I can understand one player out of contract come the summer but 2 main centre halves is an absolute mess. We surely have scope to get atleast one tied down to a longer contract. I think its a no brainier if we have to tie down 2 out of 3........thanks Liam ๐ |

We wouldn't get a penny for any of them if they left at the end of the season. Development fee by christ ๐ If you know as much as you claim in this post then the development fee line just put the whole post in the bin for me. |

So the plan was to bring in another 2 before the deadline shut, this would have been in and around 10-16k a week extra. As weak as we are, I would now rather they use that money to go towards new contracts for Cabango and Darling........its not ideal but contracts for these 2 are the main priority at the moment. |
| Forum Reply | Luke Williams really isnโt sure about his squad. Free agent update and Bristol at 22:55 25 Sep 2024
Regarding free agents. It appears that free agents are getting picked up as seen with Aaron Connelly going to Sunderland. We can't let time drag on in hope that no one gets injured and expect the free agents to still be there when the injuries occur(hopefully they won't). Get Andre Gray in on a contract until the end of the season and be done with it. |
| Forum Reply | Luke confirms there have been talks with Harry Darling at 15:41 19 Sep 2024
Gave an indication I believe that there is talk in contracts but not at a stage where they were hoping to wrap it up......although he did state(in a round about way) that there might be something in the pipeline soon. Interesting to see that he mentioned free agents once again, it suggests that he is clearly still not comfortable with numbers and certain areas.....a left footed winger and Striker are the key concerns. |

Lets be fair, over the years many of us have had disagreements and little arguments......i would keep very open minded about coming across people face to face and wouldn't rule out getting on with them when sat down with a pint. But I think the majority of us know a wrong one when they post on here. |

Good to see Kyrell back on the scoresheet and playing again. Talk of contracts recently, club need to sort his out as its also up in the summer and seem to be messing about with this one also. Can see another Al-Hamadi situation here. |

OK. I was encouraged in one cup game where he got his head to a cross that he really had no right to get too. granted he nearly headed it for a throwing but I he done well getting to it and I could see the power in his neck muscles in doing so. Guy has clearly had very little training and game time since the end of the season. Not a regular starter with his national team and didn't return to Bordeaux due to their financial issues so had no pre season. I hope you are wrong as I am sure you are.....lets give him a bit of time hey. |
