Because Nardi putting his foot through it means Kolli vs their 6ft2 CB in an aerial duel, its coming back either way.

Burnley are a fine example of an extremely well drilled side of slightly above average players high on confidence and momentum.

Though they'd struggle to get 30pts in the prem.

Strikeforce next season..
at 20:53 22 Apr 2025

As it stands, assuming they all stay, how would we feel about starting the season with the following strikers and save some £££ to strengthen elsewhere:

Frey
Kolli
Kelman
Celar

(Lloyd out on loan)

We only ever play 1 up top, and often how we play just wont suit Kolli, Celar or Kelman so that could be an issue.

Frey proven he can score at this level (and also miss plenty of games).
Kolli who can also play deeper has shown potential and also bagged a few.
Celar & Kelman would be the gamble as feel they would need extended game time to get in the groove yet so would anyone new coming in.

Ronnie Edwards - praise to the club when it’s due
at 12:30 19 Apr 2025

It's intriguing that Edwards essentially came from playing L1 football (I doubt six months on the bench at Southampton drastically improved his development).

Therefore, as we're unlikely to sign him long-term, there must be a few other potential options - slightly rougher around the edges - lurking in the lower leagues, just like Morrison, who proved himself there last season.

Jimmy Dunne Will he stay or will he go
at 21:56 18 Apr 2025

Great player for us, would love him to stay as many have pointed out his attributes are an asset to our team.

However, a Premier League RB he is not. Even a team pushing for promotion would most likely favour a more 'natural' up & down ball playing speedy assist merchant as 1st choice. Though he could be a useful squad player in such a team, is that what he really wants.. more cash and a 'bigger challenge', so yeah quite possibly.

Plot twist:
A 3yr deal has been verbally agreed, Nourry just holding out for a special 'summer buzz' announcement, strategically timing the news to capture peak off-season attention.

Madsen needs to pull his socks, stop being such an absolute pansy and deliver something for the +£200k we've put in his pocket since september. Now is the time Nicolas..

Southampton Are Back
at 17:59 6 Apr 2025

Championship teams going up aren’t just stepping up a division - they’re stepping into a different sport. Take Wolves, the closest team to the drop, yet still 12pts clear, boasting a Brazilian international striker along with various other internationals. In the bottom 8 are Man Utd and Spurs - worlds apart from any Championship team - showing how ultra-competitive the league is.

Meanwhile, at the top of the Championship, we've got Sheff Utd and Burnley, spearheaded by Tyreece Campbell and Lyle Foster... WTF

Then the teams coming down - having already spent £70m+ on players to try and stay up - start with an obvious advantage. Some may leave, but parachute payments incentivise another crack, depending on risk tolerance.

The stars really need to align for a club like ours to become a top-division mainstay once again.

Sheffield Utd Thread

'Squared it to Furlong, should have..' sorry wrong decade. But yes the one more on to Yang was the sensible option, young lad rush of blood wanting to prove himself perhaps and the blocked shot was going well wide, lesson (hopefully) learnt.

They punished our mistake for the first goal, their second was a wonder strike. Beyond that, they didn’t create much. We pushed but were wasteful snapping at our chances, and after we did score, they shut us down well.

Overall a decent performence against a likely promoted team, with playoffs now fading i'd now like to see our own lads step in for Edwards & Yang + give Walsh some playing time as he's learning nothing on the bench.

Portsmouth Reflection

So there is an organised, deliberate effort across multiple individuals to manipulate results without any leaks or consequences, just to keep Marti from getting too ahead of steam..

Bizarre (and somewhat insulting), but i guess you are joking.

Sometimes performances drop because football is unpredictable, simple as that. Move on.

Development Team v Swansea (A)
at 22:39 17 Feb 2025

The bits I've seen of Petrie (LW/RW) always left me slightly underwhelmed thinking he could be more assertive and aggressive, however those who watch more of the Dev squad could share a better picture on him.

At 20, im almost sure he'd be up for release end of the season with our new young gun recruitment strategy in full swing. Plus the likely fast tracking of Sutton 2yrs younger.

Chair finally in the middle long term?
at 11:53 5 Feb 2025

Playing your most creative and technically gifted player at 10 just makes sense, doesn’t it?

From that central role, he can roam freely, linking up with the LW, RW, and CF fluidly. He can hold it, dribble, drop his shoulder to beat defenders, and thread through those killer passes. Plus, playing off the CF - as he did a few times with Frey in the first half - just clicks naturally.

Also he’s no luxury player like a Madsen-style drifter. His work rate is undeniable, tracking back and doing the dirty work. Great balance of flair and graft and would love to see more of him there now we have genuinely decent options out wide.

Kolli signs new deal!
at 13:30 17 Jan 2025

Great news.

As mentioned above the best youth prospect we've had in years. I am somewhat intrigued however that the 9 years from age 8, to signing pro at 17, he was never poached like many others before him. Was it a case of late development that kept him under the radar, or just a deep love for the R's that made him stay? Im sure one of our acadamy fotball gurus could shed some light.

Charlie Kelman
at 20:37 15 Jan 2025

Orient have been on an absolute charge since December and now just a few points off the playoffs, they used the loan market well.

Kelman could conceivably finish the season with 20 goals, putting him in the shop window for a potential sale, or strengthen our options for next season. It’d be hard to dismiss a player with that kind of output, especially just from the league below.

Still only 23, and 100+ career games, sometimes players just need time to find their groove. Ironically, if he were at another club and delivered those numbers, he’d fit the kind of player profile we’d be scouting.

Of course, there’s still a while left in the season, but if he reaches that milestone he’ll certainly deserve another chance.

Looking forward to see how this progresses.
