I'm a bit too busy and not really vain enough to cut and paste a few posts from this very week where people have kindly agreed with what I said, or engaged in friendly debate, or what not, but I hope your determination to paint me in a uniquely noxious colour to satisfy your own needs makes you happy. Neither you nor anyone else here knows who I am in life, so your bitchy comment about people speaking well/badly of me is irrelevant. Why would I even take that seriously in either direction? Virtually nothing anyone says about me here (rather than my posts) says anything at all to me about my life.

Actually, for the record, I'm with Oscar Wilde, who once wrote that 'whenever people agree with me, I must be wrong'. That's what I come to a board like this for - controversy, complexity, and a bit of passionate friction. (Often with myself, on and off the board, as much as anything.) But I wouldn't expect you to understand that, so never mind!

I see condescending rears it's head again. No I don't know you apart from on here. The way you present yourself though, I wouldn't want too. Yes and a board like this is great for discussion and debate. Sadly though your idea of debate is for people to agree with you and when they don't you argue more, then just head straight for rudeness and in many cases pettynes. It's interested that you have a total lack of self awareness. You believe you present yourself as someone who is here for lively debate etc but you are the first one that makes it personal with your snidey comments and then get all hurt when you get it in return. You say people's comments are irrelevant but you comment on people kindly agreeing with you. Kindness doesn't come into it. You don't agree with someone to be kind. You either agree or don't. You say its irrelevant but you report someone. You are a contradiction. And if you are going to quote Oscar Wilde. Get the quote right. "Whenever people agree with me I always feel I must be wrong." You say I wouldn't know about what you are talking about, I do and I get my references correct

Delighted we 'kept Calm and Marti on'.

Not sure it was really in doubt, but he can only get stronger as his learning curve increases.

However, I do wonder where we'd be if we'd had say, a Charlie Austin (first time) in our ranks at the start of the season.

Anyway, good for Marti!!!

Ah, the simmering cauldron of opinions which is Loft for Words.

As a general point, it is perfectly possible to disagree with a poster without causing offence. Just say you disagree, say why and state your case. No need to criticise them as a person.

Oh, and always - always - use the preview button, to give yourself the chance to remove anything inflammatory.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Much deliberation overnight, but I've gone stupid red. I have to say I was really torn between red and blue and hardly slept a wink.

Good god, what a ranting/pompous/pedantic/boring know-it-all!

If I'm all the things you say I am, I can only tell you you're living proof of the dictum 'it takes one to know one'. Sure, I can be fractious, judgmental, critical etc. (as well as reflective, responsive, and even sometimes agreeable) if it makes you feel better, but trust me when I tell you I'm not actually that bothered about anyone's view of 'me' here, as no one knows me - only what I write. My main beef, as I've said, is people who willfully play the man and not the ball as a way of not having to deal with complexity, nuance and argument, or who create simplistic/scapegoating caricatures they can rant it like barking alsatians.

PS As for being a 'contradiction', I happily agree, but everyone is. As you're so knowledgable about the likes of Wilde, you might have a look into psychoanalysis, in which contradictions are considered part and parcel of being human. (In fact, our very existence is understood as built on one, i.e., we both know and do not know ourselves, because of the reality of the unconscious.)

Not sure where Stainrods Elbows sense of humour has gone, as clearly it's meant as a bit of a laugh.

I can't vote now as I can see the argument for either side and don't want to upset one of them.

Of all the many posters on here who I've had the pleasure of interacting with over the years, I feel I can quite confidently say that I have probably the clearest insight into your personality, along with the ever rational and truly diamond geezer Mr. Brian McCarthy.

I'm not sure you're as mysterious and hard to nail down as you like to portray yourself, Mr. Elbow.. (I say this in love )
