January Transfer Thread 13:27 - Dec 23 with 56681 views | KeithHaynes | Done some asking and Oli McBurnie is most certainly up for a loan back to the UK this window. I’ve been told four Championship clubs are interested. This will all fall on the fee’s involved plus he is on in the region of €36,000 a week. Big numbers but we know how these things can be negotiated. Do we have the money ? Yes. P&S will need to be positive and only the club really know where we are with that at this moment in time, It won’t be massively healthy. Oli has played fourteen games for Las Palmas this season with no return. He has never been a prolific striker, but could he settle into Luke’s team ?

And if the manager has specifically told you not to? Chucking a keeper lacking in recent game time in to play behind two right backs filling in at CB was just the latest in stupid tactical and personnel decisions made by Williams. LV should have played if we were that sparse at the back.

You’re correct . It was utter folly That said ,McG is not a callow kid starting out. He’s a seasoned pro ,one who should have the balls to stand up to this excuse for a coach .

Yes, you keep saying that players should stand up to coaches. You're also fond of criticising players for alleged attitude problems. Can't do both.

Even if the manager has directed you to keep possession then anyone in their right mind would be pragmatic enough to realise that if you've taken a bad first touch, then the number one priority is safety. If the coaching is saying to pass short no matter what, then they really do need replacing as the players at their disposal do not suit their style

For sure you'd expect a pro to have the sense to just lose the ball if in trouble, but we are also dealing with someone giving orders who comes from the Russell Martin coaching tree. FWIW I believe that he was mostly just rusty. We asked him to do most of the same things that we do for Vig and he wasn't game sharp enough on the distribution side. The first goal we conceded I'd put down to a lack of matches with those in front of him. Vig will have an understanding of what Darling and Cabango will do. They will have an understanding of what each other and Vig will do. None of Naughton, Christie or McLaughlin looked comfortable playing alongside each other which was only to be expected. There's no substitute for actual game time. Both individually and as part of a team together. That's also been part of our problem going forward this season with the amount of chopping and changing we've done.

Quite possible UJ. I suppose the point I am making is that it took us over a month to get to the same position to announce LW

January Transfer Thread on 16:47 - Jan 14 by onehunglow | I’m not easy T,and can still be very volatile even at 75,yrs of age ,which I am of today. Not one happy birthday wish from anyone on this site when on t other site I won the Lunt of the Year award ,hands down . I have been a bit of a xxxx at times in my life but I’m still around anyway although I don’t understand how. Anyway, yeah,I can’t understand well paid football professionals not standing up to utter jerks like Lukey and tell him they ain’t having it I am well informed Steve Gerrard game Hooulier a tough time before Gerrard had a heart attack over his training methods and selections . THAT is a club captain. Same applies with the utterly obnoxious but brilliant captain that was John Terry ,a proud club man who saw the club greater than any coach and cared about performances . Imagine us having a captain like that |
Well penblwydd hapus to you ohl. Have a good one.

Yes it's nonsense if a player tells a manager how to do his job the player will be frozen out.

Perhaps we would be in a better place now if Monk had been frozen out following his shenanigans with Laudrup.

Sadly Monk had wormed his way into Jenkins' good graces, and what with the Tutumlu situation on top we kept the wrong one. Gazza purging many of the Spaniards or those Laudrup favoured (like De Guzman) when he got his feet under the table definitely didn't help our style from then on.

Wasn’t just him at the start of Laudrups reign. Him and three others running to Huw saying Laudrup didn’t know what he was doing 😂 Clowns. Chico saw Monk off tho 😂

That's also been part of our problem going forward this season with the amount of chopping and changing we've done. |
Al ot of the chopping and changing further up the pitch has been due to injuries to Eom and Cooper and while also trying to.intergrate new players into the team, the back four had been settled for quite some time before Canango and Darling's issues, Franco is one player who we have seen a decline when missing and yet he is raw to Championship football but is easier up to the standard needed, Grimes is Captian and seemingly will be first choice for some time and yet he has flaws that many teams have been able to take advantage of. Seen lots of players try the cynical foul bUt don't think many have completed or failed to completed even for the want of trying as Grimes,to make up for others failings or his own? So.we have to look at that third player that we need in midfield to accommodate Grimes, Steve Cooper tried quite a few to go with Grimes and Fulton but ended up with Hourihane. Fast forward passed, Martin and Duff and we had Ollie Cooper passable work rate which helped keep our defensive side tight but lacking in creativity but featured in wins for both William's and Bellamy even scoring but with Cullen up top didn't work maybe now it would with Bianchini or Vipotnik , Cooper injured now Cullen is the new 3rd midfielder, goals for have come but so have goals against, is it Cullen's fault or is it a case he is not defensively astute to make up for deficiencies in the middle. The chopping and changing of our fullback converting to middle of the pitch to try and make up for the deficiencies just leave us exposed down the wingers. So now we have the centre of our defensive issue against Southampton chopped and changed understandable in a way but with the amount problems being created by the opposition seemed far more than was expected but we have seen it before.against Wycombe, Portsmouth and....... The spine of the team is weak even more so missing Cabango and Darling and needs more able players than the likes of Grimes, Fulton, and aged players the likes of Allen, Naughton, Christie, Pedersen need to be replaced next season with more dynamic younger versions who we know won't be as experienced but in the end will offer a lot more than they can but the new players need to be introduced now in positions they can play in while the experienced older players are there to help them but not to stifle them. If the xfer market is unavailable to us because of FFP then youth has to be given it's head in the middle of the park because it is just not good enough.
