Yep. Including all the guff they get added on for offices etc.

No accommodation expenses, they can stay in a travel lodge if they live far enough away from Westminster. Their staff should be paid as civil servants not from MPs expenses. Similar for travel and all that. It's how the civil service runs, and they are civil servants.

I wouldn't do their job for what they get at the moment.

The PM gets similar to a director level in Swansea council and. An MP similar to someone at management level. It's nuts.

Put it this way. If this was the situation Caroline Harris would not be earning £91k a year. The

Starmer spent a lot of time in opposition talking about how politicians needed to clean up their act. He's either arrogant or stupid to have put himself in a position where he is seen as a hypocrite.

It's nothing new. It shouldn't be allowed full stop. Labour should be ashamed.

But the Tories did worse, wallpaper, BJ holidaying at the Goldsmith's place, accepting donations from racists, Jenrick and his recent donations.

No gifts, no lobbying, no second jobs just pay them what they deserve.

Which probably needs to be more

It's up to him really.

He's doing a difficult job, one that deserves more than £166k a year.

I wouldn't do it if I was worth £15 million.

Labours Non Dom policy is being questioned by the Treasury as it thinks the pilicy will not realise any tax income. Looks like someone has realised very rich people can move around the World easily taking their tax liabilities with them

The Conservatives under Jeremy Hunt introduced the changes to the non dom legislation in March this year which would see the abolition of non dom status after a transitionary period. Labour have proposed accelerating the changes and reducing the transitional discount.

Both sides are culpable, the question is how do we make the tax regime fairer and close the loopholes so every one is treated fairly.

The point seems to be that Labour has now realised that the predicted £3 billion gain won't materialise, given the likely impact of the inheritance tax changes for non-doms by encouraging wealth to leave the UK, so that the policy will be diluted. Thus no £3 billion gain. The inheritance tax rule plan was a Labour idea , and was not in the Tory non-dom proposals.

This coincides with Rachel Reeves hinting at a change to the fiscal rules (by shifting to a public sector net worth test). Effectively she will increase the limit on the national credit card by £50 billion p.a. by offsetting public assets like anticipated student loan repayments against national debt. This new money would be used only for investment- related spending, and advocates of the policy see it as a way of achieving the economic growth that Labour has emphasised. Sceptics say that our national debt is already at 100% of GDP, the level at which many say the interest payment starts to damage the economy. Borrowing the extra £50 billion p.a. would push up the interest payments into dangerous territory above 100% of GDP.

It is worth mentioning that during the election campaign Labour stated that it had no plans to change the fiscal rules, and also that the manifesto commitments were fully costed. Party spokespersons were pushed very hard on both these things and were firm in saying that their position was clear. I too am now getting "bad vibes".

I think we can safely say ' fully costed' was just political posturing.

It's been a widely understood and accepted economic reality for decades that excessive tax rates are ultimately counter productive. Of course, your average Socialist simply doesn't understand this, but then again, if Socialists understood Economics then they wouldn't be Socialists.

The best tax rates are those that people are happy to pay.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Politician , some good and true on £ 91k per annum I can accept that wage they get .
Premier League footballers would not get out of their bed for that money .

The problems arise when the word honesty and openness are worded alongside MPs.

In the current climate I look at many Politicians of all parties in it for kudos and gain .
Sadly the very top table of Government are making the best of anything on offer free .

Would any of us , the great unwashed turn down a freebie if offered , I would not .

Goverment will waffle on about not the tax payers money , all declared and above board .

Biggest issue is the vague and obscure rulings on second homes with all bills paid by the taxpayer , nice to have a nest egg when losing your seat in Westminster .

House of Lords £ 350 per day to sign in show your face then go home to your Mansion .
I could do that easily .
