Heard there is a 4th new player but all are keeping quiet at the club, I am assuming that it's the goalkeeper but all staff have been sworn to secrecy to new arrivals.

Ogbeta to Peterbrough could be a goer mind.

Get a half decent LB and then replace whoever leaves with like for like in as much as possible. I will be very pleased with our window then.

I won't proclaim to be any insider or claim that what I hear is impeccable.......more is actually incorrect or falls flat than actually comes to fruition.

If Grimes does move on in this transfer window do we have the strength in depth in the squad to replace him giving that the likes of Allen and Fulton injury issues last year?
Does Duff defensive team work stance mean the roll he plays isn't so pivot?
Downes seemed to be the perfect successor but now he has gone who do we replace Grimes with if he goes?

If as is being suggested they have plans in place I suppose once again we have to ‘trust the process’

With a new signing.

How much do we get for Grimes, 5-6M?
If it were Southampton who came calling then we wouldn't need to look much further than Will Small bone, an excellent footballer with age on his side.
The players are out there.

We will never replace him as we will not pay the money, I for one would never sell him unless its a silly offer or we have no option.

We had one in Downes who was let go to balance the books Happy for the right man to come in if needed, was also throwing the question out if we had a ready made replacement in the Swansea setup with enough quality to take us forward this season and the near future.
Happy for opinions and names suggestions like Will Smallbone, hope all is under control by the Swans(As much as can be controlled)

We will need to replace him, we either do it and get a decent fee for him and keep him until he is not up to it and ultimately retires or leaves for necy to nothing or even nothing at all.

If we're shifting emphasis to a faster paced, attacking style then replacing Grimes as the fulcrum of the team may be a necessity rather than a potential problem.

He's been front and centre in four years of some of the most boring, pedestrian football many of us have ever witnessed, playing almost every minute of every game.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

It's a good talking point, we need to be understanding of the situation and the right bid comes in.....it then leaves us pending on the fee, it gives us the opportunity to get 2/3 players to come in within the first team squad/team whilst losing 1.

I certainly think with Paul Watson being brought in that there would certainly be more work going on with recruitment than it has been for the last few years.
For instance the left back situation is interesting, we have been linked with George Bello and George Cox, both players have gone/going to teams that I feel we could have competed with easily financially wise so it suggests these lads werent the type of player we have earmarked.

As a squad I still think there is a bit going on and needed....Goalkeeper, Another right back and left back are required as it stands without replacing the likes of Piroe or others that leave. The worry is and there is history to back this up, we might see a little stagnate in I comings with the club now possibly pursuing deals to get players like Piroe out so they can then use that money to strengthen other areas aswell as replace Piroe.

If the Piroe deal goes to the death then we must make sure we get a Keeper and left back in before that happens.

One thing I will say about Grimes, as frustrating as he can be, I think he is quite adaptable in his play and plays to the requirement of the manager.

Duff likes one holder in midfield with 2 further forward.......Grimes fits that holding role for me, a Joe Allen of a few years ago would have been perfect but we are not going to get that from Joe Allen of today.........we will see it occaisonly though I may add.

But he played the way Martin wanted him to play Grimes is a clever player.

No reason why he can't adapt to the new managers platying style.

If he goes though I am sure we will have an alternative lined up.

Of the same view, happy when he plays his one touch football in tight situation but seen him take that extra unneeded touch too many times, he has been replaced as corner taker by both managers Cooper and Martin and seen as a liability if left as the last man at corners leading to the inevitable booking or breakaway goals
Contracted until June 2025 someone would have to offer him at least a 3 year contract and it would have to be a better one and pay the transfer fee, any takers?
Sure he has his good points.

I think sometimes Grimes sometimes is not given the credit he deserves , He followed Martin instructions to the letter as you would expect him to considering he is the Captain and maybe that role means more to him than realised by us supporters .It wouldn't look good on him to be seen to be disobeying orders.
He is a good player and watching the highlights of the friendlies so far in which we ran the channels and looked of more of a much quicker attacking threat then maybe his vision and accuracy of passing of which he undoubtedly has then perhaps we could see a much more dynamic approach from him

Why the love in with Grimes? He improved with better players around him but was still slow in thought and action, didn’t turn up as a captain. For most of the last four seasons the majority of posts about him have been negative.
We have a better, quicker, more gifted central midfielder at the club already in N'tcham.
Unless our in house players, ignored by Martin, have stepped up and impressed we need a left back /left wingback an cover for the same left and right.
IMO we also need a first choice keeper and a striker / attacking forward taller than 5'9’ (assuming Piroe leaves (even then a forward who can head the ball would be a plus).

Grimes has been continually rated by our managers and opposition managers. The player opposition players least like to play against and yet some don't get it. Its all about opinions.
