Madrid 09:35 - May 24 with 3655 views | scottishjack | Heading to Madrid at the end of June for the Download Festival (worked out around the same price for a week in Madrid as a weekend camping at Donnington!) Anyway, we’ve got a few days spare to go exploring, any suggestions? Must sees? Also, the World Cup will be in full swing, so any watering holes to recommend?

Cheers, didn’t realise Toledo was that close, thanks for that! 👠
Madrid on 11:13 - May 24 with 3583 views | Badlands | What has already been posted but if you are into art the Prado Museum is a must (a decent botanical garden a bit further down for a quiet picnic). Reina Sofia Museum too. Piaza Mayor and the market nearby. From Mayor you can get all sorts of walking, cycling and Segway (good fun and you get to see more). The area around the Royal Palace is impressive with great views. My favourite night club (small dark steamy with a bluesy / rock feel) is Boca del Lobo. Shopping area is outstanding. BUT remember the city only really comes alive after 9 pm. & most people will speak very little or no English & it can (will) be very, very hot. & you have to pay for everything - Madrid isn't a cheap city. Hope you have great time. A wonderful city. [Post edited 24 May 2018 11:18]

Well naturally! 😂 But we’ve got 4 days to kill afterwards so I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the sights while I recover! 👠Also, thanks for the “youngster” comment!
