The rising costs

What free prescriptions do you get in your area R?

What people seem to forget is that the reason for free scripts was to keep the burden on the NHS lower. Lots of people won’t bother taking medicine if they have to pay for it and then end up in hospital. That’s something no NHS Trust anywhere in the UK can cope with now.

This shower if a government seem to want to do everything yesterday and aren’t peeling away the layers to see what more costly problems will occur as a result if their actions.

It’s all very well saying that “life is not like that” but it’s attitudes like that which allow governments to walk over us. The WASPI situation was wrong. The reversal for free TV licences for over 80s was wrong (and saved pennies). The WFA being stopped is wrong and again saves practically nothing especially when you factor in new public sector jobs to administer any means testing.

I’ve said above, I’ll say it again, I gave paid in all my life. I entered into a contract as I see it and I want that contract honoured.

This is completely off thread though so apologies.

People will argue it’s not an entitlement and that your contributions are linked to today’s pensioners not your own. This is preposterous and if any government wants to see mass protests on the streets, this is the way to do it.

It is documented on my NI contributions page on the HMRC site that I, that’s ME, have paid in all my 32 years needed. I hadn’t up until recently so I made a £3k voluntary addition to make sure I, that’s ME got the benefit I am ENTITLED to at 67 which is under 4 years now. I didn’t (nor was I invited to) make that additional contribution to fund someone else. If that’s the case, it’s no more than a Ponsi scheme.

Everybody who has paid in the years required should receive a state pension regardless of whether it’s the primary source of retirement income or if they are billionaires.

Also, such a scheme would ensure people don’t put savings into an AVC if they’ve got to pay for it and it prevents them getting a state pension.

This is one example of where I’d support the ECHR to the hilt and they have a field day.

Draper burnt out physically and ultimately mentally but he was beaten by the world no.1 and eventual winner of the tournament so no shame there at all.

That said, I genuinely believe Draper is the real deal so long as his body doesn’t break down (no pun intended!). He’s tall, powerful, fast around the court and has great touch so I’d say he is going to be one of the new top 4 which I think will include Alcaraz, Medvedev and Sinner.

Maybe he classes himself as an English republican.

It does make me wonder why some sing the anthem with such fervour when they’d probably boot the royal family out without batting an eyelid.

1-0 up.

Is there a more certain bet for promotion than Wrexham. I’d put my house on it )if I were a betting man).

The PL for them in 2-3 seasons.

I appreciate the problem with the French (and there’s a generalisation for you😂).

But I’m sure there is a way, it just seems the political will is not there and I have no idea why not. Surely, given the feeling in this country for this issue it would be a sure fire vote winner??

It’s time to take tough measures, with refugees and with our ‘friends’ across the channel.

Well most will come from France I’d imagine as it’s the shortest route.

But don’t tell me that some surveillance can’t be implemented.

And anyway, send them all back to France. If we can’t tell where they come from then nor will the French authorities😁

Until, and only then, we as a country change our stance in so-called human rights we will have this problem.

The example above citing the BDA’s reluctance to x-ray people against their will is preposterous. You want to come here, you jump through the hoops we tell you to, no bleeding it’s against your human rights,

Of course, all this costs money and requires a tough approach other countries are considering but is apparent beneath us!

And sending them to countries such as Rwanda is never going to work. As soon as they get there, they will be planning a way back and the problem won’t go away.

Dear God, we have the best defence of all in this country. A defence even the might if the German army couldn’t breach. 22 miles of water!!! They shouldn’t be getting within 10 miles of our coast and should be forced, by whatever means necessary, back to the shores of mainland Europe.

From everything I’ve read and seen, including the Ch5 documentary I posted above, I just don’t think she has had a fair trial. That is no indication of whether she is guilty or not though, only a fair trial can prove that.
