I'd like to know JRods stats re his pace.
I don't think he is too far off his previous pace. No doubt he might have lost some percent of speed but he needs time still to fine tune his performance levels.
I was impressed with his attitude, passion and workrate last night. He really wanted it and it showed. He is the most natural talent and goalscorer after ChasA and will get goals.
We still need to sign some quality reinforcements tho. |

Maybe it feels Fonte's rep is tarnished. But questioning Fonte's quality? The guy has been awesome - last year in particular. Then the euros made him question the uptil then unthinkable.
Now - maybe he feels the club haven't shown the investment he would like. And doesn't see it changing. And maybe fancies a bumper payday or a last hoorah at a big club. This scenario sounds suprising but wholey possible. |

agree w aceof the base. Cedric could not pass for toffee. Crosses were poor. The formation to me doesnt seem to maximise the squad. We've put Redmond up front which may well work but he is lightweight... and Austin is on the bench. A strong player who can hold up the ball and score with decent service. As it looks we have no decent delivery from the wings and are congesting play through the middle without enough quality and strength. |

Suarez handled himself against Jefferson monstero ok. I was worried home being isolated when montero came on. He does look a little suspect defensively...something clyne didn't. I remember clynes perfectly timed tackle against Aguero 1st game back in the prem and noticing from that point he had great recovery and tackling ability. Time will tell w Suarez but his natural strength is getting forward...w pace. |

I think we need to sign a decent creative and quick attacking player.
Some one who can offer something similar to Mane. If Mane gets injured we will def be less potent. He tends not to make 90 minutes either.
As for Juamni I am unsure about him as yet.
Tadic is good but can he keep it the whole season. He is also a little more pedestrian pace wise. We know what Long can do well and Jrod who who likes to carry the ball at pace and score of course but how much does he provide re creating chances or breaking down stubborn defence?
A clever skillful creative type of player is needed as back up for Mane I hope this Barca player is that |

Wanyama is booked and misses 2 games. A concern but I hv confidence in Harrison Reed after seeing him earlier in the season. Hopefully if picked he can push on.
We could have done with his energy and bite yesterday as i felt we didn't press enough.
Hopefully the result will give the team a lift. Pelle in particular who as corkcity said didn't hide and played well.
Considering we had Clyne on the bench?along w tadic our crossing was restricted... the only crosses really came form set plays with too many punts forward.
After watching MotD Stoke away will be a tough test..although our defence isn't as porous west hams! |

Spiders contract is to 2017. Thats not bad leverage at the bargaining table for arguably the best defensive midfielder in the prem. He should fetch 25m easily so i dont think we'll have a prob getting the right money. Might help if he score a screamer of two in the run in.Clyne needs to pick up his performance level i think to get his max return. |

All points are valid to a point for me.
He is doing a slightly different job allowing the other forwards to wonder infield and beyond him, but he is a striker and needs to score goals to feel important and get his confidence up. As it stands he does look like he needs a break, either in front of goal - or on the bench.

Players are doing fantastically considering who is out. Our injuries are extensive.
No doubt the two WH CBs and Nolan(IF out) are a big miss for them..but Sakho, Valencia, Downing and prob Carol up front doesn't sound too bad.
Our organisation and defending with our first choice team this is second to none. But now..with Toby still out and Bertrand (and Target)?.. Gardos and Yoshida(prob at LB) need to have a solid games and so too Wanyama and Reed.
Imagine if JRod was available to give Pelle a break up front.
As it is Mane is proving vital.
That said as you said Nic if we can beat WHam that gap will be significant and also allow us to push our foot down a little further on those over fed Cocks of Tottenham.
Nic, how do you mean we have changed our system to have Pelle as a provider more? Mane tends to drift more centrally with him now if thats what you mean.
Pelle is getting more attention and also if we are not getting quality balls into the box he is not going to get the chances. |

Elia will get better. Not as quick as Mane i think but has qualities that will hopefully blossom under RK.
Great to see JC back. His quality and can help us through the next few weeks.
Harry Reed too will grow in the coming games. He was made to look a little light weight against the muscular Sissoko - but is energetic, tenacious and assured in his DM role.
Now those doubting our right as a club to reach for the top four must be smiling.
The pundits are denying us plaudits no longer.
Unrealistic ambition? Cortese's way crazy dream? Not any longer.
The club is under a sounder footing and has had the pull to get RK who is proving to be something very special for saints.
Everton in the last few seasons were the benchmark for us to aim for. The mentality of that club was we can reach the champions league. We are NOW beginning to adop that into our belief going forward - Sensibly and sustainably while growing the sense of together as one planted by NA.
I just hope we can maintain the quality and results in the coming weeks with the depleted squad.

I saw the first 70 mins (via live feed in Ireland).
Agreed it is going to take time for players to adapt.
Also agree I liked MoPos definite 'we aim to win every game' - not hearing that as clearly now.
We look blunt up front.
West Brom were more in control than us as I left the match.
The regular long ball to try and hit Pelle frustrating to see.
Passing in our own half even was not as assured looking as last season without Lovren. Second balls in the midfield were being lost too regularly. Morgan and Wanyama were solid enough but there was no dynamism in the transition from defence to attack, no one to carry the ball forwards with confidence.. and the overall passing was too slow and telegraphed.
Pelle stalled the flow by taking too long to lay it off a couple of times. He looks like a box player/goalscorer..unlike his predecessor. Agree would like to see Long played closer to Pelle.
Forward players in particular need to develop some partnerships and understanding with each others game - which takes some time.
Clear contrast to the Liverpool away game.

Totally agree nic.
There is something not right behind the scenes for a sale of this scale to be taking place with no cover bought in.
Chambers signed along with many others, long term contracts and although contracts may mean nothing at the end of the day the sale of Chambers now, amongst all the other sales for me does show nothing else but weakness and bad management.
Koeman (club) says we should be patient. What? like arsenal or Liverpool or any number of PL teams who have strengthened a lot more than us and sold nothing like the scale and quality of players we have. Madness.
Where are our replacements?! I am gob smacked at this. We will never know but im pretty damn sure NC would have kicked Les Reeds ass out of the club for this work. The players knew he would only settle for the best and that level of strong leadership appears to be sorely missing.
Please god serve me up some humble pie but all i can gage from the club is lack of ambition and ineptitude and the only, er positives im hearing are we have sold players(virtually the entire first team) for lots of money or.... total bollox from Mr Reed. |

Its impossible to replace all the quality we're losing. Chambers is def quality. From the first game I saw him against Sunderland he showed that composure. Arsenal Wenger knows a decent player. Why sell CC though? Like others have said we have money?!! What is going on!?!!
