Before Thatcher we had one monopoly supplier for gas and one for electricity.

We now have tens of suppliers and both gas and oil.

The only reason gas and oil priced are so high is because Russia invaded Ukraine and several EU countries like Germany relied on one monopoly supplier for gas, Russia.

Simple supply and demand nothing to do a politician who has not been in power for 35 years. All down to one dictator who is still in power in mother Russia.

Any critism of putin or Russia results in arrest and imprisonment after a show trial.
A ballerina was arrested an imprisoned on a recent visit to Russia. Her crime she donated £20 to a charity providing medical supplies to Ukraine

FREE SPEECH IS NOT ALLOWED IN RUSSIA UNLESS IT SUPPORTS PUTIN AND HIS WAR CRIMES.

NEWSPAPERS AND TV STATIONS WHICH CRITICISE PUTIN ARE CLOSED DOWN.

THERE ARE NO DEMOCRATIC AND FREE ELECTIONS IN RUSSIA. ALL OPPOSITION IS SUPPRESSED.

OVER 1000 POLITICAL PRISONERS IN RUSSIA.

The new system for electing Senedd members
at 19:42 4 Sep 2024

There was a referendum in the UK in 2011 to change from first past the post to propotional representation. It was overwhelming rejected by 66% to 33%.

Seems Welsh Labour have chosen to ignore this and not to run a referendum on the new voting system in Wales
Either they know their proposals would fail or they don't trust the Welsh electorate to make the right decision.

They have just abolished democracy in the Senedd.

Russia was a small European country in the mid 1500s before it began its invasion an colonisation of Siberia , the Pacific coast of Asia as well as it invasion on Poland, 1654 where it captured most of what is modern day Ukraine.

It has also colonised various Baltic states and well as many southern Asia muslin States. The Russian empire became the World's third largest empire and still occupies most of the land it conquered.

The Ivans killed millions of people during its invasion as well as millions of Russians during its civil war in 1917. Following Russian dictators like Stalin and Putin killed millions of Russian citizens, stopped free speech. It also has a rigged judicial systems.

Winter fuel allowance
at 10:54 4 Sep 2024

The DWP has produced statistics that show 1.9 million people are over pension age and below the poverty line in the UK. 800,000 of these are eligible to claim pension credits but currently do not do so. This still leaves 1.1 million pensioners who's income is below the poverty line and who will lose their Winter fuel allowance.

Not sure where you got this fictional hundreds of millions from.
The population of all the British Colonies actually rose considerably over the years. Due to the introduction of health care, education, water and sanitation systems as well as introducing a legal code to these countries. Most former Colonies on independence took up a democratic system, although a few former African countries reverted to either maxism or dictatorships and corruption.

Meanwhile Russian continues to try and reconquer its former Colonies as has no qualms about killing millions of its own citizens since 1917 .

The new system for electing Senedd members
at 08:28 4 Sep 2024

16 constituencies announced today by pairing two neighbouring Westminster constituencies.

No individual names will appear on the ballot paper just party names.

There will be 16 constituencies each electing 6 Senedd members based on proportion representation. Not sure if you get one vote per constituencies or 6 votes.

Based on the 2024 general election results applied across the whole of Wales using proportional representation the result might be

Labour 36 seats 37% of votes
Conservatives 18 seats 18.2%
Reform 16 seats 16.9%
Pc 14 seats 14.8%
Liberals 6 seats 6.5%
Greens 5 seats 4.7%
That makes 95 seats not sure who might get the 96th seat

With 16 constituencies one Member will be elected for every 16.66% of the vote each party gains.

It will be interesting to see the turnout compared to the 46% in the last Senedd election as you can no longer vote for individuals.

Strikes
at 08:38 2 Sep 2024

Under Labour the UK was the sick man of Europe with rising unemployment, terrible public services, record number of days lost to strikes.

Under Thatcher, unions were made democratic, workers had to vote to strike rather than being called out on strike by left wing union bosses. The country boomed with new modern industries unemployment fell and the UK actually started to pay off tye National debt and living standards rose.

A democracy where all opposition leaders are jailed or killed. Where freedom of speech is punishable by prison if one dares to critise putin or Russian.

It is a dictatorship that follows Hitler's Nazi policies.

Do keep up.

The 20MPH punishments
at 09:41 23 Aug 2024

Looks like the tour of Wales cycle race has decended into farce this year. The route has been changed and shortened to avoid any section that has a 20mph limit. The 20mph limit does not apply to cyclist but does apply to all the support vehicles which cannot keep up with the cyclist. It even prevents the police motorbikes from doing their job of closing roads ahead of the race and opening them after the race has passed . The police motorbikes could not overtake the cyclist in 20 mph zones.

No mention of the 8 million families on means tested benefits who received extra benefits last winter to cover the high cost of gas and electricity. The average family is 2.6 persons which means 21 million people will be affect by this.

Together with 10 million pensioners that means 31 million vunersble people will have to pay extra for their energy cost this autumn and Winter with no help from labour .
