Jay Stansfield to Birmingham City from Fulham
at 12:30 31 Aug 2024

Didn't realise that SCMP turnover was calculated differently in leagues 1 and 2 in that direct injection of cash by owners, not loans, is counted as part of turnover.

In that respect, if it pays off, relegation was the best thing thing to happen to Birmingham.

Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower
at 22:35 30 Aug 2024

Is this why we have been shopping abroad - because no home based championship level players will come here on the wages we are offering?

Offer League 1 wages, players will run down their contracts to get more money at other championship clubs whilst we end up signing League 1 players and playing League 1 football.

Is it time to start judging the chairman on his actions?

And some of those chickens could come home to roost with Cabango, Cullen and Darling.

More interest than our owners then?

Are we seriously aiming for the top end of the table though?

Offer League 1 wages, lose Championship players, replace with League 1 players, end up playing League 1 football.

Being a selling club to premier league teams and those relegated with parachute payments is a fact of life. Becoming a selling club to mid table championship rivals will inevitably end in one outcome.

Whatever Birmingham want for Dembele I would be surprised to see us paying it.

Cardiff fans now pro Palestine are they right 🤔?

Wanting the killing in Gaza to end is not necessarily pro-Hamas or antisemitic.

Not really a football board thread in my view.

Two signings the Swans need to make ASAP and they are free !
at 08:36 20 Aug 2024

It's been my concern that one or both will go since the reports of cost cutting on wages started arriving.

The obvious thing for the players to do in those circumstances is to run down their contracts, whilst the club will look to sell at least one of them this window and bring in a loan as replacement if they are not interested in offering better contracts to them both.

I doubt if any sale will happen before the derby, but once that is out of the way I would not be surprised to see movement one way or another.

If you only watch games on the box it's easy to miss movement off the ball as the coverage concentrates on the ball.

I'd prefer honesty and realism as well, but they don't look as if they're on the table

The issue with under delivering on a regular basis is that over time you lose both season ticket holders and casual fans so that even more savings are required and get into a spiral.

The easiest way to become a millionaire is still being a billionaire and buying a football club.

The problem is overpromising and under delivering. To fans, certainly; managers probably and players possibly.

Cabango and Darling contracts are up at the end of the season. Are they going to sign new contracts or let them run down?

Lack of experience and naivety perhaps on one side and American bs on the other.

I suspect that we have mainly looked overseas as the UK based players that could improve the team would want more than £6,500 a week to come here.

How many players are looking to run down their contracts or actively look for a move for next season?

At this rate we'll be one of the best run clubs in League 1 before too long.

Has he got the players to do it?

After 3 months of scouting targets, it looks like we are looking to the last minute loan market again.

Looking back, I did really stupid things in my twenties and could be a right dick at times but there was no social media and everyone didn't have a camera in their pocket.

I grew up in my own time and space without it being broadcast to the world.

Helping youngsters who are on as much money in a month or two as most people are on in a year should be a high priority at every club.
