Breaking !!!!! SFC Sack Manager
at 14:31 12 Mar 2025

Got a mate who used to apply for all the managerial positions in the late 80's and throughout the 90's.

He never used to get many replies from clubs - understandable when his managerial experience was limited to Basingstoke Sunday League Div 5 and 6 (he won Div 6) - but he did get a really nice 'unsuccessful' reply from the Welsh FA regarding their vacancy for National Team Manager. It sits proudly in a frame, on the wall behind the bar in his man cave. :-)

Adam Hammill
Hassan Kachloul (or CashFool as he was know, once he left us for Villa)
Jermaine Wright
Nigel Quashie

A Chelsea fan in the office said that Dave Beasant was at Wolves before he played for us. Just checked and he played 4 games for them, whilst on loan from Chelsea.

Previously you failed to give the year. I wonder why ?

Perhaps that is because Southampton FC have never played in Division 4.

Saints were in Division 3 (South) for the seasons 1953-54, 1954-55, 1955-56, 1956-57, 1957-58 inclusive.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Southampton_F.C._seasons

Even you are capable of looking this up and confirming it for yourself.

I originally went to great lengths to explain how the Division 3 North and South leagues worked and how they ran in parallel with each other, but clearly you didn't have the mental capacity to take the facts on board at the time and still don't today.

# Must try harder
# Do more research before making a dick of yourself

As I said, come back to us when you've played Leeds more than a hundred times, like we have. The comparisons may be a little fairer then.

Come back to us when you've played them more than a hundred times and then we can compare.

We played them 3 times last season and won them all.

Before this current season, you hadn't even played them for more than 12 years - which is appalling for a club of your supposed size !!

Truth and Facts.....

I'm still waiting for you to tell us what the year was that you claimed we played in the 4th Division. You've had months to look it up - or are you struggling and in need of some assistance ?

Just what do they do in training?
at 15:27 27 Feb 2025

Our defenders look like world beaters in training this season, because they are up against the likes of Tall Paul and Archer - oh and you can add BBD and AArm for the period August to January. How many Prem goals between them this season FFS ?

Albert Gronaek

Gronbaek did alright at Ipswich, but was replaced by Sulemana who perhaps did a little better than him, having the shot that was parties to Tall Paul for the winner. Juric then kept faith with Sulemana and has done everything since.

As for ABK, for those that saw him yesterday, you'll know why he hasn't been selected ahead of others. Awful, Slow, Out of position and that is from a player who is looking to get back into the German national side !!

Southampton V Brighton The Verdict
at 10:56 23 Feb 2025

If ever there was a game to go 4-4-2, this was it.
Playing 3 CBs is fine, but Bree goes off on sorties, Bed has no confidence or pace, his replacement ABK is slower than me and Aribo is not a CB and it showed.

All Brighton had to do is pass through our midfield and run past our slow CBs, or hit balls over the top and run on to them.

They won at a canter and could easily have gone up a couple of gears. It was by far their easiest win of the season.

Juric should have done his homework and watched Brighton. We all knew how they would play, but he kept to his same predictable style and we got battered.

Pathetic performances from most of the players. I'm so glad I'm not doing Chelsea and Liverpool away - those that are, take your calculators !!

Are Saints So Hard Up
at 00:42 12 Feb 2025

What is the point in opening the shop, if nobody wants to go there ?

Why does not opening it make us 'hard up' ? Perhaps it is just good business sense ?

They have changed the opening hours. At the start of this season there was a feel good factor about going up and fans were making plenty of purchases ahead of the Prem season, so we were open every day for most of the 'usual' shopping hours.

The demise of the team has become reflective in our support, so nobody wants to wear Saints shirts or other merch at the moment, so they don't go to shopping. If nobody goes there, why have the shop open ?

The stadium is also out of town, so why make a journey especially, when we are playing so poorly ? If you want it that badly, get it on match day or get it delivered.

They closed down the shop in West Quay, blaming Covid, but although they reopened a different shop in the Marlins, it only ever came across as temporary and soon closed.

Once the team starts winning again and the feel good factor returns, the shop will probably then be open longer.

Danny Ings
at 15:50 5 Feb 2025

Ings was great for us.
I thought he would be lazy when we signed him, but he had a great work ethic, put a shift in and had the ability to get first time shots off, left foot or right and usually on target. Unlike Che who usually needed a touch to try to control it, a touch to actually control it, a touch or 2 to try to get it onto his right foot and a touch to shoot !!

He could have stayed on and eventually have been included in that Top 10 Greats Thread, but he chose (not unexpectedly) to double his pay at Villa. They played him regularly until Emery took over and it was clear he didn't want him.

I think West Ham took him and pay him well, but they had and still have players that are deemed better than him. It is clear that he is over the hill, but can probably do a job - especially from the bench.

After their game at Chelsea the other night, West Ham boss Potter was saying that they struggled through with so many injuries up front, so they had to sign Ferguson on loan from Brighton. Fulkrup, Antonio, Summerville, Paquetta and Alvarez were all out and I thought to myself, Ings is still only on the bench !! There must be a reason for this !!

10 Greatest Players In Saints History Ranked
at 15:34 5 Feb 2025

Keegan was only with us for 2 seasons, before buggering off and dropping down a division to join Newcastle. His 1st season with us was injury prone, so probably played two thirds of the games and scored about 12 goals , but his 2nd season was great and he scored 26 league goals.

1 good season doesn't make him one of OUR greatest players, but perhaps when considering his whole career, he was one of the greatest players to play for us.

With Sulemana and Dibling coming back from injury, it is no real surprise that they are on the bench.

Welington plays on the left and will probably have to man mark Hutchinson today.

At least we seem to have a few more potential game changers to come off the bench today.
