Some superb suggestions to the list of greats. As for the villains, dug this out from a few years back... |
| Forum Reply | What’s our worst squad ever? at 22:44 17 Nov 2024
When we drew at home V Ipswich in April 2021, under the "hugely talented" (quote: David Bottomley) BBM, we completed a run of 17 consecutive home league games without a win - the worst such run in the club's existence. That season, until the victory V Swindon* , we'd had one win out of 23 home games in all competitions. Hardly our worst squad in terms of individuals, but performance-wise, awful. *We now know about some of the characters Roger invited in from the visiting team's entourage that night, despite COVID restrictions. |

He could do to speak to Steve Parkin. With hindsight, he regretted going to Barnsley when in a position to achieve good things here. |

Going back to those days, there was a bury fan who spent lots of his work day on here slagging Dale and our supporters off from his computer at work, until a Dale fan outed his work location from an ip address . How he cried and bleated and begged when he was exposed in case his employers found out. That was funny. |

Rumours galore around the ground today re: this. Burton won, at last. Dale won, just about. We'll see what the reality is in days to come but it will be nowt like the Muppet Show going on in bury! |

Could there be an ex-football club CEO out there, with extremely poor credentials, looking at the situation with mercenary zeal? I wonder.... |

Pedantic question, but in a competition as lowly and unworthy as this, does Hendo's goal even register towards his club tally, as it wouldn't have in a reserves game years ago? |
| Forum Reply | Dale v Bromley (FA Cup 1st Round) Match thread: at 23:47 2 Nov 2024
It's the simple, repeated mistakes that are so annoying, and costly. Bromley's first two goals - we've done the tippy tappy tripe discussion way too many times. Why the proverbial penny hasn't dropped that you can't spend the first 10-15 minutes of a game "feeling your way in" like it's a training ground exercise and expect the opposition to let it happen is beyond comprehension. Look at the way we regained the lead v Halifax, and kept it. Dale were exemplary. We used a few dark arts but mostly did our damndest to keep the ball in their half. That way, they can't score. Jim's subs today reverted to his old favourite fail of "one goal lead, lets defend it" which his teams struggle to do. We gifted them presence in our defensive area and they took advantage. Can't do that if the ball is near Pearl St. Why, when we proved we can keep a lead a better way? Going forward today, we were great. It worked, got us back into the game. So why the fook does Jim have to do the opposite and go all defensive when a win is so near? The misattribution to Einstein re: “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” was aired in Ratcliffe's after the game. Not for the first time. We have good players this season. We've won well numerous times this season. The calibre and tactics are there. Use those instincts, those skills. Jim is on the cusp of something good for RAFC and his reputation. Ignoring the bleedin' obvious , as has been done too many times, unnecessarily, is pure folly. |

Managed to sign in first time without a problem or being asked to change password. Despite being signed in, the existing details held on the system were lacking and had to fill in a few lines. After that, bought a ticket for Saturday with ease which landed in e-mail shortly after. |
