Will the hard shoulder not be covered by camera's, so the police can send them notification of potential fines and points awarded to their driving?

Aldershot Screening 07/09/2024
at 17:21 7 Sep 2024

I didn't realise he had dropped Kelly, with seven subs, common sense says have a keeper on the bench, McNulty baffles me sometimes with his team selection, like at York, when he dropped Beckwith for Armstrong. I feel sorry for McBride, Ferguson and Henry who all played well last week.

Hopefully it will work out well and we will sneak a win.

I was surprised by the changes, why change a winning team, the team played brilliantly last week.

Sir Peter makes his debut
at 07:34 1 Sep 2024

Yesterday was one of the best games I have seen at Spotland for some time, we dominated the game from start to finish. It shows Sir Peter and the fans what the potential the team as this season and look more then capable of getting a playoff spot.

I also like the new white away top.

Twisted Mule Brewery and Taphouse - Spotland Bridge Mill
at 16:40 30 Aug 2024

I think he means if you enjoy a pint of real ale or similar alternative beers the Ratcliffe is not really the place to visit, what I find strange is that JW Lees do some very good seasonal real ale beers, but they don't seem to be sold at the Ratcliffe. So before the Twisted Mule opened, the only alternative near the ground prior to the opening Twisted Mule Opening up was the Cemetery Hotel, especially since it was taken over by the Flying Horse owners.

May I ask is the Ratcliffe open in the evenings during the week or just on match days or weekends?

It is a good drinking establishment and hopefully it will go from strength to strength, it is what we have needed near the football ground.

Some excellent analysis.

I agree a good read, the author is right we need to be more positive in front of goal and as the author concludes, that could be the difference between a playoff spot and mid table for us. Again I agree with him, that Allarakhia and Beckwith are very good signings, who could play at a higher level and Henderson has the football brain to change games. The author actually sums up the view point of many Dale fans.

I am sure that in his post match talk on Saturday, he said they were doing light training, prior to going to Yeovil, so I can only presume that they went down on Sunday.

Yes, we won and dominating possession, but my concern is that we are not creating enough chances and even worse taking them. I agree 8 points from 5 games is a decent return and installs confidence in the team going forward.

I will take it and well done to McBride, I hope it gives the confidence in the coming season, but as others have said, we seem to play McNulty's preferred total options football for most of the game and I must admit I thought the commentary team on BBC Somerset were quiet good and fair.

But we are now 7th and have got Woking at home next week, which may be an hard game, because they have done better then I expected so far this season. it would be nice if somebody mentioned to McNulty, that his total options football is not exactly working. I still with a couple of additions, we will be potentially a play off team. I will take the three points mind you.

I am confused by the team selection, with Beckwith and Armstrong in the team, I suspect it is 4-5-1, however it could be 4-4-1-1, to be honest I don't think McNulty knows the formation. I am surprised TAR as been dropped to the bench, I expected Barlow to be on the bench as well, but he as gone for Alfa to replace Gilmour.

TO-DAYS GAME
at 08:21 25 Aug 2024

Again, I have to agree with some of the comments, McNulty moaning that other teams have bigger budgets and squads, he mentioned that with Gilmour possible injury, we may have to play less experienced players. He signed the squad, but he as the ability to sign others,he stated previously that he still as money left to spend. I feel the squad is a good squad and is equal to virtually all the top teams in the league, but as others have pointed out, he as the Southgate mentality in that he may change the formation, but to some extent the total options style of possession football is still at the core of his tactics.

This poses the the question, is McNulty the problem and not the answer. We have strikers in Mitchell, Rodney and Hendo who scored around 35 goals last season between them, but this season, they seem unable to even get a shot on target this season. This is despite the fact, we have a better squad, it most be frustrating for the players, but McNulty may be on a three year contract, but he needs to remember the Ogdens said this season, they effectively want us to finish in a playoff place.

TO-DAYS GAME
at 20:19 24 Aug 2024

Forest Green were poor, did they have a shot on target, I cannot remember one. I thought their no 5 Innis had a good game.

Rochdale dominated the game, as been the case for most games this season, but created virtually now't and this a recurring theme at the moment, I am wondering if Mitchell and Rodney can play effective together up front and crucially why are they and the other players not running into gaps and shooting at the first opportunity. The team is good enough for the play offs, but we need to more active in front of goal, this may mean recruiting another striker to put pressure on Mitchell and Rodney.

Hendo did okay, when he came on, I would have brought him on sooner and Allarakhia is looking a good player already. But McNulty needs to address the lack of goals and why we are not creating them, it is fine saying we played well and dominated the game, but we did not score. In truth today was boring to watch even for the diehards, god forbade what any neutrals thought of the game.

Jim it would it appear to have adopted the 3-5-2 system, but would it not be better to adopt a more flexible approach to away games by going back to 4 at the back to give the team more defensive depth. Because York seem to exploit the fact, we only had three effective defenders.

Having listen to McNulty, I despair, same old excuses 'York are a big budget team', yes they have spent money, but our playing budget as increased as well. He says Dale, were the better side, reading some of the responses from fans, including York fans, many have asked is he on something!

Apparently the team changes was based on him being a technical genius, in that he thought the changes would suit his game plan against York, which worked well. We all knew York would be an hard game, so why drop Beckwith who as impressed this season, you start with the strongest team possible. As someone as mentioned, sometimes he is more interested in the performance then winning games, in this he reminds me of BBM.

We need to get at least a win and a draw over the bank holiday weekend. Hopefully McNulty will wake up and listen, to get the results that will attract fans to Spotland.

The question is can McNulty learn from his mistakes, I sometimes doubt if he can. If we are not careful, we could drift away from the playoffs. Yes it is early season, but McNulty continues making mistakes, I do wonder at times, as he not learnt from last season. We need to get a positive result on Saturday and Monday.

I will be interested to hear McNulty response to the defeat tonight.

TVOS - Rochdale v Dagenham & Redbridge
at 19:44 17 Aug 2024

I would have to agree, our wingers constantly beat their defenders in the first half, we passed the ball well and more incisive then last season. However at times we reverted to passing it about the back, like last season, but it was certainly an improvement on last season. I was disappointed we did not win, because going forward we looked good.

I must given credit to Dagenham, their players threw their bodies in front of Dale shots and their defenders fought for every ball, in any other game I would have imagined Dale would have got a couple of goals. Dagenhams Pereira looks a very good player and took his goal well, which I think was Dagenhams only serious shot on target.

McNulty in his post match indicates he is still looking to recruit, which can only be a good sign for the season.
