| News Comment | Southampton Away Travel Put On Extra Coach For Brighton at 07:46:10
TBF, they do throw in free food and drink and no other ballsache getting from Brighton out to the stadium with the added bonus of guaranteeing getting you to the game. Unlike Southern Rail! Wouldn't be my choice to go by coach but for those that don't mind, they sound a better option than the Bingo buses. |
| News Comment | Saints To Reveal Three New Kits at 07:37:04
It has been designed not to clash with B'mouth and Palace, it's yellow and blue, although the shirt buying fans won't be able to buy it for a while because, apparently, someone stuck the wrong colour Virgin logos on them! The home shirt is red and white stripes, although, so 'they' say, a little different to the usual and who knows why we're selling an unnecessary third shirt this season? ££££££££££££££££££££ |

| News Comment | Football Italian Style ! Palermo V Parma at 13:18:43
Yeah, an interesting read, "60 away fans" sounds like the skates away at Wigan in the PL, although Parma fans may have more of an excuse venturing into the home of the mafia! A stadium only a fifth full but probably still a better atmosphere than most English grounds, having said that the acoustics are usually better when it's near empty. Not picking holes, but, if you're the one holding the camera, it looks like the away fans were on your...cough...right. |
| News Comment | Should Wesley Hoedt Play Against Watford ? at 13:54:16
Their were stories emanating from the Lazio fans forums that one of the reasons Hoedt struggled for contention over there was that he couldn't adapt to playing in a 3, a system Lazio used. They say he didn't have the pace and mobility for the job and more suited in a 2 CB. |
| News Comment | Saints To Wear White Kit At Wembley at 18:15:36
We wore the blue flame abomination for the ZDS final, we definitely should never wear that again. The new white one was never going to be mass produced, it was originally for one game only. Although it would now sell in the thousands, there's not enough time to produce it, ship it and get it out there. If you're a shirt-wearer it wouldn't need a lot of imagination to replicate the white shirt yourself. |
| News Comment | Premier League Clubs To Discuss Safe Standing at 19:08:12
It's very unlikely to increase capacity as, in effect, it would be very similar to today's seats, difference being there'd be a rail in front of you. It would be one standing space allocated per person just as a seat would, taking up the same area. If they can't stop standing in seated areas, which obviously they can't, then the safest thing to do is introduce this safe standing. Trouble is, those opposed just hear the word 'standing' and all logic goes out the window and refuse to accept the bleeding common sense (and probably safest option in the stadium) solution. |
| News Comment | Premier League Clubs To Discuss Safe Standing at 10:34:18
I'd suggest we have around 3,000 persistent stander's and probably a lot more that would like to stand. If the top of the Chapel was to be converted you'd have to stretch it right to the corners (and slightly around) to go towards satisfying demand and to actually make it work. Just doing 2 or 3 upper blocks would cause issues for those sitting adjacently and cater for little more than 5-700. For site lines for 'sitters' it would have to wrap halfway round the corner blocks. Sounds good to me, and I'm an old git. |
| News Comment | Premier League Clubs To Discuss Safe Standing at 07:28:46
Excellent news, then everyone gets a choice, those that want to sit sit, those that want to stand can, for the first time in this country, stand safely. You'll never stop fans standing in seated areas if that's all that is available - and that is the most dangerous situation presently. This way everyone gets to choose how they want to watch a game of football. |
| News Comment | Newcastle Send Yet More Tickets Back For St Mary's Clash at 17:41:11
"one of the lowest away followings of any Premier League fixture ever at St Mary's" has got to be a bit of an exaggeration. It looks like they've still got over 1500 seats, I can't believe they won't shift those over the next two weeks, and that's still loads more than the likes of Blackburn, Boro, Hull and plenty others regularly brought down. Did Wigan ever bring more than 2 or 300? |
| News Comment | Still Some Tickets For Aston Villa Game Left at 14:06:36
Have Villa taken the "full allocation". They only took 1,700 initially but took another allocation. I think they're expecting around 2,000 to come down - they're putting on free coaches for their fans. |
| News Comment | Alan Pardew Should Be Warmly Welcomed On Saturday at 17:00:52
44,000 officially but Saints fans took over most of Club Wembley which took it well over 50,000. I know someone who did the official Wembley Stadium Tour it was mentioned that Saints had taken the most fans the new Wembley, Millwall took similar numbers in their first visit. Pardew deserves a warm welcome btw. |
| News Comment | Manchester City Send Back Tickets at 08:29:28
Tbf, City have sold out the other sections but as Nick points out, other 'big' clubs would have shifted 3,200 pretty quickly in the circumstances. Yeah, we did sell out at the Etihad the first time we went there but the next 2 games have been on Sky. That first Sky game we had the top and bottom tiers and getting on for 2,500 with City charging us £51 a ticket. City are obviously a bigger club than us but they aint a United or scallies. |
| News Comment | Paul Heaton Gives The Balanced View Of The Ched Evans Issue at 07:17:26
As Paul Heaton is well known to have stood shoulder to shoulder with SU's hooligans, maybe he shouldn't be so hypocritical of his club's actions. Having said that, I think Evans should have lost his job once convicted as any average Joe would have in the circumstances, then up to others what happens next. |
