Jones completes his loan move
at 12:58 10 Sep 2024

OS

Swansea City defender Harry Jones has returned to Weymouth on loan for the 2024-25 season.

The full-back or centre-back spent time with the National League South outfit last term, and he will now play out the remainder of the new campaign at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Jones’ loan move was agreed and completed prior to the end of the recent transfer window, but he initially remained in Swansea to complete his rehabilitation from injury.

The right-sided player signed for the Swans following his departure from Arsenal in the summer of 2020.

After a brief stint with Peterborough United, Cambridgeshire-born Jones joined the Gunners at the age of seven; spending nine years in their academy.

Following an impressive start to the 2020-21 season - in which he regularly appeared for the under-23s - he signed his first professional contract with the Swans in December 2020.

Jones went on to spend the second half of the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Barry Town United.

Everyone at Swansea City wishes Harry all the best during his loan spell.

Thought the pitch held up well mate.

Speaking to a journalist this morning he stated had that game been postponed Montenegro could well have forfeited the points as it’s the second venue for this tie.

I have far more hope now than when the Port Vale lad was in charge.

He worked hard, dogged and committed, put some nice challenges in, he should be proud of his performance as we should be of him representing our club in an international jersey.

All I see is a plan ( pre match ) and a style of play which interferes with natural ability. That is evident when we see the Swans rebuild after a ponderous ‘attack’ The ball is recycled very precisely leading to players slowing down and thinking too much about their roles at that point. The safe ball is always looked for which players like Grimes are then missing some very good through ball opportunities (and others) against Wycombe a prime example. There wasn’t one through ball.

Of course the coaching staff need to be on the sidelines because coaching isn’t all they do from the benches. There’s a multitude of roles. The Luke Williams style of play is nowhere near to what he introduced at Notts County, he is introducing a style which seems as foreign to him as it is the players he wants to play that way.

When the shackles are off this will work excellently, but we rarely see it.

I suppose we just have to hope he is seeing it as well.

It’s how a lot of professional coaches are seeing it, prescribed, robotic football with an exact brief on how to build and pass. It’s the very essence of coaching ability out of players. It cannot go on, even after five games.

This is the issue and my point, I’m talking about putting the fans first, especially away travel and access. The UK is a miserable and thoughtless second.

Talk Sport for England !

They are a shameful example of a company stuck in the seventies with ridiculous bias.

His personal stuff is another topic. I went to St Pauli and was asked at the turnstile if I could afford my ticket, and if not I could get a refund and access for free. Also Borussia Dortmund still offer eight euro train travel away with a free hot dog ! Tickets always massively reduced. I’m talking about fans here, the EPL would never stoop so low as to be so considerate.

His sentiment isn’t lost on me.
