The lack of segregation surprised me too but heartened by it also.
I spent 15 minutes stood in the first standing section on that side of the pitch, i was at the front so i didn’t notice a couple of Aldershot replica shirts until just before the minutes silence. We have just unveiled our away shirt which is red based too so subliminally i may have thought they were Dale shirts.
I didn’t eat or drink so can’t comment on that side and thankfully it didn’t rain.
Shame the section behind the goal wasn’t open for away fans but i assume there will be good reasons for us not being there this time.
Lastly, i thought the eulogy for the passing of the club chaplain was heartfelt and minute silence perfectly observed. |

Yesterday was a great performance and it’s a bit unfair to do man of the match awards with this lot, as it truly is a full team effort
For example TAR stood out yesterday, getting forward, dangerous, crosses, defensively sound. Tarryn seemed to have a quiet game.
Or
Tarryn had his hands full with the lively Akpan and ran his socks off for 65 minutes negating their main threat. Fantastic defensive performance. TAR was head and shoulders (literally) over his opponent.
First half we cut through them time and time again.
Second half settled into a defensive block, for me could have been slightly more clinical when we did attack but that’s asking for double cherries on the top. |

Last nights performance evidently didn’t impress the bookies once more, Sky Bet instead choosing to shorten Oldham after their home draw to Southend.

Bookies don’t seem to fancy us this season.
We were 14/1 at the start of the season but have drifted to 22/1 after our awful start and absolute dubbings away at, erm, York 0-1.

I’m going to single out Gordon today, however i could do the same for Ferguson (awesome 3 games) or Beckwith (make that 6 games)
First half their left winger got nothing out of him. Ended up being subbed abd his replacement got the same. Gordon was fantastic both offensively and defensively.
The one moment of threat in the second half after Rodney had been mugged was stopped at the last by a fantastic tackle by Gordon coming into central position.
I think Man of the Match could have gone to 7 or 8 players today and justifiable case given.
Pace of play was great, mixiing it up going long occasionally great. |

Hard to tell if Yeovil waned or Dale soared in the last 20 minutes but was one way traffic.
Keeper scary moment came from us having a throw in by their corner flag. Backwards, backwards, backwards, poor kick, great header, saved on the line. Had it gone in then it would be on a good number of blooper reels.
Couple of other goal line clearances too and a good save down left, v a great through ball/just over and have to say Yeovil had the better chances up until the last 20.
2 conceded in 5 is very credit worthy-hoping Mitchell breaks his duck soon. |

Predictable, unimaginative, one dimensional, slow.
Rodney is nullified by defence sitting deep and no space for him to run into
Mitchell is nullified by nothing through central midfield
We move the ball slowly across the back meaning when the ball is eventually played wide, opposition double up easily. Henry when he came on at least shifted it to TAR a couple of times.
It’s rather reminiscent of last season. |

Daggers came to defend, hoy us on the break and use gamesmanship to its fullest.
Defending 9/10
Hit on the break 5/10 (could have got a second but good defending/fall over claiming a penalty )
Gamesmanship 7/10 Will see worse, but usual time-wasting, keeper doing Pickfords, deathmarch walks for throw-ins and substitutes etc.
At least they gave us a couple of laughable strops, lad tantrum when his boot got broken and best of all their keeper calling medical helicopter for the CH who headed out for a corner and decided to feign multiple injuries until the ref said get up and he did.
I wouldn’t expect D&R to trouble the playoffs based on that, out chances of doing so will rely on being a bit sharper up front when dominating like we did first half.

Interesting that a second interested party has now come forward.
I wonder if they saw the news that we were up for sale on BBC and popped a quick letter to SG.
The sceptic in me suspects this second party were known but not declared before the shareholder vote.
The sceptic in me suspects there would be reason for this non-declaration and wonders why that is so.
Thr sceptic in me is sceptical about everything right now. |

As with others, not close in any way to the current position but can only thank those that hold the club and fans interests purely at heart, such as Judd and Col, for their effort, leadership and wardenship during these turbulent times.

Gateshead were fantastic tonight from the off.
They had a wide man either side hugging the touchline and Dale could not cope with that for starters. Then they were excellent at passing and moving, cutting us open again and again. They were inventive from free-kicks and corners and as mentioned above, left 2 up front when defending corners - compared to our usual 0.
2-0 totally flattered us, 2-2 was a relief. They were far better than us coordinated and ran rings around us especially the second half.
Nothing was done to counter. No formation change as they streamed through our left hand side time and again.
We were not bad, they were very good.
Even their kick offs after we scored were positive, not laid back to our keeper every single time to hoof it up every single time. Whoever came up with this (other teams do it too) wants locking in a dark room and made to watch Mrs Brown’s Boys on a loop for eternity. |
