The phrase that comes to mind over the last two games is "all over the place" I doubt we'll see a target man being brought in, and don't think it'd be effective since the team aren't set up to support that type of player Plus, if it's down to the pitch, that leaves all our away games open to tactical confusion too The players themselves are playing, above all, as if they're confused and at the very least disempowered., scared to put an early cross in, scared to shoot and even making a run into space might seem dodgy to them if it disrupts the formation [Post edited 10 Feb 23:10]

Hmm... not really No disrespect to Ebbsfleet, but in that case we should've been in the playoffs by three points with the absolute minimum of enterprise You know that |

And that's the real shame of it After the Yeovil victory, there was a real surge of optimism, including by myself. I'd always had doubts about his prowess as a manager whilst wanting the best for Dale, and it looked as if he was about to prove me wrong. I'm perfectly comfortable with that, if we're moving forward as a team Then Oldham, then today He strode into the room at the forum, was complimented on the Yeovil tactics and win, then looks to have lost the plot I honestly don't think the club will remotely think of changing manager, for another season and a half at least. What concerns me most is Project 5000. Comments have already been made about disillusionment and failure to even try to hang on to potential crowd growth in big games. If he loses his job at some point in the future, it'll be because the fans simply won't watch what he puts in front of them, more often than not |

Any revised thoughts by those whose expectation was that Dale had the consistency to take on the top 4/5? Games in hand count for nothing, never have done Still expect us to make the playoffs, "make" being the operative word, but the evidence before our eyes on the pitch is we're just not ready for a push to the top [Post edited 8 Feb 17:05]

Just to add, there's all the difference in the world between a targeted ball over the top to a striker hanging on the defenders shoulder to run onto (Vardy, or Mitchell against Yeovil) and just hoofing the ball expecting Mitchell to outmuscle his opponent with his back to goal (Oldham) |

Great initiative Solar panels aren't permanent fixtures, and can presumably be re-located if necessary, i.e. if the roofline of a stand was changed. I agree though, looking much more likely to be at the COA |

That's precisely why bringing Hendo on for at least the last half hour was required At one point, Mitchell broke down our left but i watched Rodney struggling to raise a gallop to get into the box; in fact, he never made it, and the chance went begging Hendo would've added that bit of professional know-how that was missing It's great to be optimistic about our chances of getting into the top 3 or 4 but putting all the factors together, we're just not consistent enough and in-game decision-making is lacking [Post edited 5 Feb 15:52]

Having a police presence alongside the stewards in the Willbutts made a huge difference - as suggested earlier in the thread |

Not much to add to what's been said Bringing Hendo on as we approach added time doesn't do either him, the team or the fans any favours, but the game was gone by then and it was only Waller who kept it respectable We're in the pack chasing the last playoff place and really don't think the games in hand will take us into the group challenging at the top. It's far from being disastrous, but tonight showed us where we are in the pecking order [Post edited 5 Feb 7:20]

Three or four coppers stationed at that corner, immediately ejecting anyone who strays to the front barrier, would sort it The club pay enough to have them sat in their control box... |

First ever national trophy We've won the Lancs Senior Cup, which used to a be more prominent competition when we beat Oldham in the final at Spotland in 1971. I think we've won it again since too But i agree, this is something that could bring real attention in the town to what's happening now with Dale [Post edited 4 Feb 15:00]

Heavier rain now forecast tomorrow afternoon No doubt there will be calls for an early pitch inspection, but the priority must be protecting the worst area(s) with the additional rain covers Drier from about 5pm onwards, so that should be when the covers are removed |
