I maintain, and was mentioned,.he's done really well considering how far he's come in recent years. How many players in the Championship weren't even playing the game 10 years ago? He's from a family of athletes (wouldn't mind meeting his sister). Good luck to him, good bloke undoubtedly. But a reflection of our position these days, not that we gambled on him, but that we had to hold to him for so long. |

For that to happen you'd have to splice him with Olga Korbut and wait 20-odd years. He's great in variations of a straight line but no way can he be a DM. If he could they'd have jumped on it. |

Agreed. I'm genuinely curious what that attack could look like once Ilias gets back from hoseing down recycling bins in Ghent. [Post edited 31 Aug 15:13]

When I left for NY in '99 I worked as a job coach for the first 18 months, for people with learning disabilities. It was a really enjoyable, stress free job. Anyway one of the people I job coached worked in the Sbarros pizza on the observation deck of the WTC. Visited him every 2 weeks or so to see how he was doing, talk to his manager etc. It was a right pain in the balls getting through security but once I'd got up there and seen him I was free to wander around, so Id head up the escalator and sit on the roof. Staring at the mast on the other tower always instantly gave me vertigo but other than that it was great - was hardly lucrative but one of those jobs you know you'll never have again. My client there was supposed to be working on 9/11 but had gone to look at a residence he was hoping to move into. Didn't tell his mum who thought he was at work! I still remember his co workers though, and his manager, John. [Post edited 31 Aug 14:23]

A couple of weeks ago somebody posted the link to that analysis of potential midfielders. It's a lot to get your head round, so rather than get on with my actual paid job I made these notes: At Championship average for: Shots on target Progressive carries Above champ average for: Both medium distance and progressive passes Creativity and finishing (but skewed by penalties?) Low on: Pressing Tackles and interceptions And Aerial duels!(?) Having pasted that it may read as gibberish but hopefully gives I sense of what he's going to bring - creativity and a bit of a linking X factor as far as helping to find players, anticipate space etc. His game will come on as far as pressing (and hopefully a bit of Ally Faurlin style heading in the middle of the park) but we need to know what to expect from him. Good signs are there so far and I don't see any sign of him hiding. |

Agree with this but I think the new lad is going to come in at RB. Noticed that Marti said it allows Jimmy to go back to being a centre half though he's sure he'll continue to contribute at full back "when he has the opportunity". Jimmy gives so much in those backs to the wall situations and will be a loss there. He's also done really well in that unexpected RB role and is full of focus and commitment. But am guessing Mart's looking for other things too - like more overlapping and mobility. |

I thought Frey did really well early on but then started laying it off at a 45 degree angle, too far ahead to link things up. Did it 3 times at important moments. I'd move Dembele into the middle, switch Alfie for Kaito and Santos for Madsen (who I don't think was as bad as others do, but not quite at it agreed). |

Might be worth having a sweepstake on the first Chair rumour of today. All very quiet so at this point am hoping for 0.00 (i.e. not happening) but I'll go for a clickbait rumour surfacing at 18.30. |
