Except that over the past seasons we have seen Stephens and Bednarek do exactly that over and again. |

If SR haven’t already picked another manager, they are truly clueless. It has been obvious from before the beginning of the season that the coaching and squad strength were at best inadequate for the PL. I am not sure that there is any more learning to come from this unfolding debacle. Oh how i wish I would have to eat these words later in the season, but somehow don’t think that is going to happen. |

It looks to me like the squad have lost faith in the coaching staff already. |

It would be even better if the suits didn’t keep recruiting wannabe hopefuls from the darkest depths of low league obscurity. |

I saw this elsewhere: An incredibly attacking bench made all the more strange by the fact there were five strikers on it but none on the pitch to start the match, Martin was asked post match what the thinking was behind this decision. The Southampton manager responded: “We wanted an aggressive bench. We need to win, we need to score more goals. We haven’t scored enough goals. I mean, that was pretty self-explanatory.” Firkin nonsense from a PL manager. Smacks of Nathan Jones. |

Well, what do you think, based oin their recent track record? And if we did get someone good, they would sell him to the first bidder. Or am I mis-judging them? |

My daughter and her family are over from Oslo for a long weekend. We will mostly be chilling, unless my son in law (Man U) has got tickets for their game, or else for Spurs (my grandson). They will drag me along, haha. |

Last season, Nottingham Forrest survived (just) by scoring 49 goals in the PL. Last season our squad scored the following for us, and Diaz scored 8 in the PL and Archer 4. 23/24 Championship 22/3 PL Adam Armstrong 24 5 Will Smallbone 7 Sam Edozie 6 Ryan Frazer 6 Kyle Walker Peters 3 1 Jan Bednarek 3 Others 30 30 Total 79 36 So on last PL performance Armstrong, KWP, Diaz and Archer might get us 18-20 goals. Where are the other 30 or so going to come from? Points will be few and far between given the slackness of our defence. |

“ Anyone that wants Martin out needs their head checked.” Your opening statement and introduction to the board, where differing views are discussed routinely by contributors of all ages and backgrounds. Rather than wait a month before coming back, why not make it a year or two and give yourself a chance to grow up. |

I think there is nothing wrong with a bit of s**thousery. Personally, I thought Trossard’s yellow when kicking the ball away was a bit tough. He was already stepping in to kick it when the whistle went. But the ref deemed it a breach, and so the due punishment was served. The trouble comes with where to draw the line. How about booking goalies who collect the ball then collapse to the ground when seeing out time at the end of a half? Ours have done it plenty of times. |

I agree re Archer. He has some skill at maneuvering, but just doesn’t have the killer instinct required of a striker at this level. |

It was mentioned by TV pundits several times about us not having a player on the edge of the penalty area when defending corners and set pieces. Yet again, it cost us yesterday. We are failing on very simple, basic tactics. Like our modus operandi, passing the buck. [Post edited 22 Sep 15:46]

Quite simply, since the beginning of Austerity, the rich have got richer, and the poor have got poorer. There are ample surveys to show this, and I’m not going to find one, because it is just about a given truth. This has got nothing to do with the benefits system, it has got to do with a broken taxation and economic system. Much as i don’t like or trust Starmer and co, they have not been the ones in power during this period. |
