Didn’t go to Macc so maybe those there can offer more on top of what we’ve seen today, but what stood out was how assured he looked in the admittedly minimal stuff he had to do.

Certainly didn’t come across like a rookie keeper.

More thoughts on today… Gordon and Beckwith are absolutely vital to our success. This is Sheff Utd at their highest point in the Premier League when they were the only side who played with three central defenders and allowed the ones on either side to push on.

Beckwith is so much like Jack O’Connell it’s uncanny.

Thought Robson was excellent in goal with the limited amount he had to do. Very calm.

Would definitely look at extending his deal even when McNicholas is fit.

New keeper due to injury and a very surprising choice of Sassi over Ferguson who has been so impressive the last two games. Gilmour over Henry a big call too.

It seems not! Had a discussion this week with an Oldham fan who was saying he only had BT/TNT for the National League coverage and that the move to DAZN has left everyone wondering what it actually means. Clubs/the league have done their fans no favours by not making it clear at what stage they can watch games on DAZN itself.

Edit: though I should read a bit more, here is some further info (still doesn’t make much sense they started a deal that included “Until the Vanarama National League is available on the DAZN platform”

https://www.thenationalleague.org.uk/dazn-broadcast-selections-for-september-ann

For now the “enhanced coverage” remains on NLTV, but presumably it’ll be a DAZN tv production. The other 3pm games are available today as it’s international weekend.

No, because games are only available on Saturday at 3pm when it’s international break. With the DAZN “live tv” games, it’s listed as “enhanced coverage” for now.

Six ex Dale players at Peterborough at the weekend, those three in Wrexham’s squad and Odoh, Hayes and Nevett for the home side.

These are always interesting threads!

Couple of examples off the top of the head and having checked The Book:

At the start of 95/96 after an injury to Peter Valentine, we had a back four of Alex Russell who was 22, Paul Butler 22, Dave Bayliss 19 and Kevin Formby 23. Only Butler had played a significant number of games at the time.

At Exeter in 87/88 we had a centre back pairing of the 18 year old Jason Smart and Zac Hughes who was 16.

Alan Reeves is actually a deceiving one, older than you think as he turned 24 during his first season with us.

Good shout.

Checked, it became 8 clean sheets in the opening 10 games!

White shorts/white socks 6-0

We have now worn two different kit combinations at home this season - Blue/black/blue & Blue/white/white.
Three different combinations away - Blue/white/white, Blue/white/blue/, Red/red/red. It will be four when we wear white shirts at Aldershot.

In possibly the best ‘One For TVOS’ (actually two):
When did we last wear four different kit combinations in successive away games? If ever.
When did we last wear five different kit combinations in the first seven games of the season? If ever.

… and a Bonus OFT:
When did we last start a season with four clean sheets in the first six games?

I know the audio was mentioned in another thread but it was so annoying even on highlights. Also, is it a National League tv thing to show a replay of every single event?!

We said after two minutes that Woking were giving us loads of room, it was crazy really. If we could have found a way to capitalise on the amount of balls we fired into the six yard box, we’d have been out of sight by half time. And would have scored 7/8 by full time!

Adding to those already mentioned, Allarakhia’s endeavour and ability is adding so much energy to the side and TAR on the other side should be leading the assists table by now.

Mention for Kyle Ferguson who has stepped in so well that we haven’t missed EEL so far and also for the unsung consistent performer so far, Kyron Gordon. A great team display all round.

Well done to the Trust for resolving this situation with the club.

Could supporters assist with the task of putting stickers on seats this week/Saturday morning?

Credit for his comments today too. A lot of openness including about how slow the play was, seems to match what has been said in this thread. Again, this sort of approach helps to develop understanding and fans can relate to a manager saying what we see.

Couldn’t stop looking at all those seats with no numbers as well. Somebody should find out what the single use plastic levels are like in the West Country.

Indeed! Thats the frustrating part, getting some shots in, some strikers attacking crosses and it immediately puts the opposition under pressure. Get the players doing what they’re good at.

“Total options” means using different options! Mixing up keeping the ball with going more direct to make use of the players we have who cause opponents problems when we do attack with pace. McNulty’s biggest problem, last season especially was not making use of that tactic and retaining the ball without pace.

Without doubt there have been frustrating and avoidable lapses towards that at times so far this campaign, but we are playing better and we can’t argue with results. One win can change everything of course, it’s easy to create a narrative to suit an argument but 8 points from 5 games is a decent start, one I’d certainly have taken looking at our opening fixtures, and we are seeing the benefits of playing with a different formation that can be flexible. So nobody can tell McNulty his tactics aren’t working, because we’re getting play-off position results without firing on all cylinders.

With an in-form Mitchell and Rodney we might be even better off, so to be in seventh without looking as strong as we all hoped in attack isn’t too bad. Complacency can’t set in though and the manager should still recognise the games where we aren’t effective and not dress it up as something different. There’s nothing wrong with saying “we weren’t great today but we’ll take a point and we’ll look to work on this, this and this”(Saturday), fans can identify with that.

Why don’t you think McNulty knows the formation?!

It could be a back three still with Senior and Armstrong as wing backs, two in midfield and a front three of Mitchell, Allarakhia and Burger.

The cost of that against the cost of potential extra stewarding and fans who go for the first time and have an avoidable bad experience isn’t even worth debating.

The fact that the club have, so far, chosen not to take the Trust up on their offer for a sensible solution indicates greater concerns around the bigger picture though.

4 at the back or Senior as RWB? Allarakhia in a more forward role?

On the subject of “single use”, that doesn’t need to be the case if the season ticket is renewed. The only stickers that would need removing would be those where a season ticket isn’t sold.

That sort of complex thought process probably isn’t required at Anfield, Old Trafford, the Nou Camp or Madison Square Garden though, so there’s no need for us to consider it either.
