Interestingly Drakeford was on BBC Wales last night. He was talking about the relationship between the Welsh and UK Governments over the years. He stated that when Tata announced the closure of the blast furnaces at Port Talbot he, as First Minister, tried to call Sunak, as Prime Minister, but the latter did not bother to return his call. Was hoping not too many of our contributors were watching as the Waterford crystal would be smashed to pieces .

Fascinating stuff. Waiting for the release of the full data to get more detail but to me the real winner is apathy I think. Labour 3 million votes down on Corbyn’s 2017 result. 500,000 down on 2019 which was widely seen as a disaster. Low turnout across the board. Any other election they would have been trounced on this performance. Partygate and the shenanigans that followed have been the death knell for the conservatives in the same way the tuition fee pledge/lie killed the Lib Dem’s for a decade.
SNP wiped out which is lovely to see. There’s their mandate on independence gone along with their toxic, childish antics. |  |

What is the point of discussing the closing of TATA Steel? Welsh labour for all their guff wanted the steelworks closed as they did with the closure of the pit in Merthyr recently.
We will now import steel & as we do with coal, but hey Wales looks good.

As far as I can see, England's COVID performance was not noticeably worse than that of Wales and Scotland, except perhaps in the area of PPE contracts. Scotland had some difficult moments because of its reluctance to use central UK support services. Wales was a little more nanny state than England with the mileage from home limit and those closed supermarket aisles containing "non-essential" goods. What was it about England's performance that was so bad compared with what happened in Wales? | | | |

I would not…and did not vote for Labour after watching them destroy my country from the Senedd.
However I am a firm supporter of democracy. I believe it’s in our country’s interest to join together and get on with it, not backbiting, backstabbing, protesting that this country has lowered itself to. If our lives are to get better then let’s not repeat the debacle post Brexit vote that continues to this day. | |

They can but they'll have to do three things.
1. The LDs ground machine did very well in targeting seats they could win. Reform will have to become a 'proper' party and evolve into a more traditional election machine.
2. They've had a massive bump with the return of Farage. They need to work out what comes next.
3. They've got four MPs in Parliament for 5 years to show they can talk about things apart from immigration to show they're not just a protest vote.
Also everything depends on the performance of Labour. If they're rubbish, the door will be wide open. If things get better, voters will stop being so angry and the vote will seep back to the center right. | | | |

Personally, I believe that not continually throwing money at the NHS is a good part of their manifesto as well.
