Duff sacked on 16:59 - Dec 5 by ReslovenSwan1 | It was the fans that wanted Huw Jenkins out. He had a bad year with poor recruitment but was back on form with Potter. The Trust put the boot in on him quite unfairly. If he was in charge people could sleep easily understanding that the new man would at least bring improvements in style and results. Duff needed a better strike force. He could have helped himself by bringing players he knew to help him. |
I never realised 2014 to 2018 counted as a year but there we are...

Any season n the Premier league l class as a success. Garry monk in 2014 beat Man utd and Arsenal home and away and finished 8th. In 2015 Guidolin had some good moments. in 2016 Paul Clement's season after Bob Bradley lefft saw a classic win at Anfield and some good home wins. This is success for most of us. It was those with the nonsense 'Judas agenda' who were not satisfied at Premier league battling at the bottom. Huw was back on form with Potter but let down by Potters poor signings.

Duff sacked on 08:34 - Dec 7 with 780 views | RichardO | We have seen how badly a run of injuries to our players have derailed many of our managers teams and as a club we suffer when we do not have strength in depth conversely we have seen injuries bring new and better young blood into a team for example Ben Davies when Neil Taylor was injured. An injury to Latibeaudie meant our shape was better and only an injury to Manning meant that team shape was lost as Latibeaudie stepped back in even though the loss was against one of the better teams in Burnley very much like our loss against Leicester has derailed what looked to becoming a settled team add the injury to Key and things seemed to have got out of control with Duff unable to rectify. An injury to one player can affect the whole team projects whether it be a Fer, Bodde, Michu, Celina and Morgan Gibbs-White leaving managers floundering to make the team a viable working entity, this year Duff has had to put up with the loss of lot of our players with the transfer window and after what seemed a good strength squad it was decimated by injuries so he gets a bit of sympathy but Duff has been unable to work out his best team, a question could be asked about the training methods employed or have we just been suckered into buying fragile players. We have seen Duff be overly cautious about returning players who have been injured or youngsters returning after questionable descions but sometimes you have to take chances on players sometimes they work sometimes not as a whole, the team has to stand up and be counted and not hide behind excuses it would seem Duff has run out of excuses and time.

IMO Duff's training is the main cause of the injuries we have. I also think the reason he was over cautious bringing them back is because with the severe training they are subject too for Duff style match fitness. Obviously this will become clearer when the new coach is in place. I would just like to add that Ben Davies was going to replace Taylor anyway. In the USA pre season he was building up to replacing him, this continued in the matches prior to the injury. Ben was a gem and they new it.

Don't doubt Ben was due to step up but there were times where he was caught with rhe ball inside played in behind hi m catching him out for the winger to run onto, had ro have first team experience to progress chicken and egg scenario which come first. Had to have a chance to learn in the first team but was he up to it initially luckily we didn't have a choice. Re injuries Could the Liberty playing surface with it's plastic inserts be a factor I remember the second astro turf pitch down the Morfa with its spongy base used to grip astro turf shoes studs for a little bit of time causing twists in knees and ankles. Thats fair, but when the new coach comes in we will need to see if the injuries persist.

New coach to learn about players will they take as long as the last two even Cooper who got us into two play off was limited with the midfield players at his disposable in the end resulting in seemingly very defensive always under pressure playing style.
