Both statements are true. It has to be at the end of a day and after all teams have played 3 games so your highest official league position that season was 3rd and you finished below Saints that season.

It appears we were top at the end of that Tuesday. What a shame for your goalpost re-arrangement technique.

And after most of the teams had only played 2 games it doesn't count. Tough. Get over it. So, the only time Little Pompey have officially been top of the league in the last 60+ years was for a few days in September, 14 years ago. [Post edited 2 Nov 2020 17:29]

Bolton was the third game. OK, so if your club are top this Friday, it won't be counted after the big teams play on Saturday.

Please don't tell me you are still arguing the toss about how long Pompey topped the Premier League for almost 20 years ago. I know see why you take great pride in having open topped bus tours for finishing runners up in League Two. If you had gone down to the Conference a few years ago as you nearly did you would be be asking us how many Conference titles we have won. I like a bit of banter between Saints and Pompey but you take it to a totally different level, what next Pompey's dominance in the Hampshire Goldfish racing championships, number of Pompey fans that have won Bullseye , the top speed of the Gosport ferry v Hythe ferry, give it a rest we really arent that bothered hence our general apathy towards yourselves unless we play you and that is what hurts the most

It was the third game that season for Little Pompey and Bolton but most of the other teams had only played two. So, nice try but it still doesn't count. Get over it. After all the teams had played at least 3 games, Arsenal were the only team to top the league that season. Now, it is November and all of the teams have played a lot more than 3 games so, as you already know, you are wrong on that count as well. Anyway, we might not beat Newcastle but we have been top of the league for months in the last 70 years, not just a few days once in September. By the way, apart from those few days in September, 14 years ago, was there any other time Little Pompey were top of the league for a day or more in the 70 years since that 1949/50 season (when Little Pompey's record was worse than Southampton's was in the 1983/84 season)? If so, when exactly was it and for how long? As your whole life is spent studying every detail of Southampton's history, surely you can do the same for Little Pompey or aren't they worth the effort? PS As you are so concerned about teams being 'big', it is ironic that Little Pompey are not even the biggest team in the third division. Let's face it, now that Bournemouth have been relegated, if Little Pompey were in the top flight now, you would be the smallest team in it by a country mile. [Post edited 3 Nov 2020 0:33]

You don't seem at all bothered that Pompey have probably spent 18 -20 months or so at the top of English football compared to your clubs 3 months. That's a ratio of around 6:1, which is about the same as the trophy ratio. These ratio's will probably never change,

As ever you are quoting stats about a football team that no longer exists.

Same badge, same fans, same city, same stadium, same pitch, same colours, same trophies, same local pubs, same railway station, same name on all the websites and history books, same players who played there listed, same roads to get to the stadium, same pictures on the wall at the stadium and local pubs and houses, OK then, desperate stuff.
