RUGBY WORLD CUP 2019 THREAD on 12:52 - Sep 23 by jack247 | I tend to lose interest in games that are over after 15 minutes. This is where only having 8 or so competitive teams hurts rugby. Football World Cup is interesting from the start. Very much looking forward to the Australia game though and the knockout stages are usually brilliant. |
Ok well I take that back!

I agree. I think initially, refs were apprehensive about wanting to give reds when in fact, they should have been given. And because of that, there’s now some pressure to give them if there’s any possibility of a red. Hopefully this won’t mean there’ll be a flood of reds before common sense prevails.

The point I will make is about the inconsistency of the law being applied. I don’t think Uruguay can have any arguments over the decision and they certainly didn’t at the time or in the immediate aftermath of the game. Fast forward two hours or so and Australia keep fifteen men on the pitch after what seems to be a very similar incident.

The TMO is biased towards making excuses for Aus. It’s pathetic. Plus Hooper is working to influence the ref. That should be an immediate yellow. The strength of their carrying worries me. Long way to go in this.
