Any suggestions for a decent place for lunch? Day off tomorrow with my wife, have done la Parilla to death fro lunch, was thinking about Hansons but been there a few times too. Love the food there but variety is the spice of life and all that.

For a special occasion, I think the view is as important as the food. Therefore I'd recommend the Langland Brasserie if the weather's good. Or Verdi's, giving you the opportunity to get a few real ales in first across the road at the Pilot.

Lovely steak in the Langland but frozen chips like. WTF is that all about?

If you want a big lunch I would recommend Las Iguanas. I went there for dinner at the weekend and the food was lovely.

Just down the way from Laprilla is Toucan Cafe. It's very nice.

Note: it's difficult sometimes to quantify "nice" what with one man's meat being another man's poison. It's nothing like either McDonalds or Wetherspoons. It's a smart cafe where you might be ordering a salad while the people on the adjacent table might be eating steaks or simply drinking a milkshake.

You can, should you be driving, park for free in Sainsbury as it's only a short hop over the footbridge.

Frozen chips should be banned. How can they say that they are chefs, or even cooks, if they use frozen chips.

Where's best if you don't like eating dead rotting animals for lunch? I've found that the problem with not eating meat is that the alternatives in restaurants are generally either bland or disgusting.

If you are ever in Carmarthen go to Waverley's for lunch. Very nice vegetarian food that is reasonable, about £5 a £7 a head. Good choice and plenty of it.

i cant stand pretentious restaurants, La Parrilla, La Braz etc, to highlight this me and Er Indoors were in Caernarfon over the weekend.
Er Indoors chose where to eat on the 1st night. Any way she chose a place which looked nice, we say down and then got presented with the menu.
£19 for an 8oz sirloin steak or £16 for lamb, I just flipped as I could not justify the price for the food one offer, mainly a plate of chips and veg etc.
How the feck can they get away with selling an 8oz sirloin for £19 quid? (probably from Aldi).
I walked and ended up with a lovely chinese takeaway from the local takeaway.

The funny thing is, whilst they try to be pretentious they are anything but. Who the f*ck serves steak on a sizzling plate when anyone with more than 1 brain cell knows that you rest meat after cooking it

Langlands is great, especially when the sun is shining, it's a fight to the finish to get a tidy table outside when the sun is shining though.

Went to La Parrila for lunch bout 18 months/2 yrs ago and it was shit fish was overcooked chips had been re warmed several times by the taste and texture of them, my Mrs food was slightly better l did complain and waitress said, l'll mention it in the kitchen at which point l said oh marvellous, guess what l won't be back, the red mist was coming down at that point and we left never to return and the place is pretentious very much so and lots have said same, Daz bag is ok though, Just

Agree with this. I like my steak rare, but the sizzling hot plate keeps cooking it.

My steak is well done when I finish.

My beef with La Parilla is the weird counter service thing they have going on there. In my book that's a canteen, not a restaurant.
