I was referring to the Port and Rome buses earlier (probably because no one from Sorrento was moaning I forgot them).
When I got there the riot squad funnelled us through but weren't threatening someone at the front looked to see we had tickets and then I reached the stewards several wanted to see a ticket but no one looked at it to check the piece of paper was a ticket, no one checked id and no one got patted down.
One father of a you child said he'd had the 4 inch floppy (careful) plastic stick holding his Wales flag confiscated from one flag but no a second.

We were on the buses from the port and had pretty much the same experience as a few on here. Got there around 4:15 as we were told to get there around 4, the police didn't get anyone on the buses until around 5:15, and then we waited there until just before 6 before leaving, going east along the front then around all the motorways.

Stuck in traffic the whole way on the motorway, it was becoming obvious we had no chance of making it before kick off. We eventually started moving a bit faster when the police started taking us through the traffic, and we got to the junction for the ground at 6:55... only to go straight past it and down another two junctions for a crawl back into the ground.

We got off the bus just as their goal went in for a quick sprint past the other parked buses up to the entrance, funneled in by police in full riot gear and checked for tickets, but thankfully not patted down as they'd already done that at the port. Finally got in around 20-25 mins into the game.

From speaking to people who made their own way there it sounds like that may well have been the better option, despite the warnings to the contrary. If we ever played them again there's no way I'd go on the official buses.

These were just normal buses as well, so most were standing up the whole time, and there was no toilet available so some people were pissing on the rear doors.

This is boring. If you were in Marseille you would have gone for the European court for a proper trial. You have all the rights to complain though so good luck. Please understand you'll see more and more traveling Europe for football.

I'm the bloke on one of the Rome buses that was in text contact with Karnataka. First of all we were met just after the motorway toll station by a single police car and told to pull over and wait until all six coaches were together. We had become split up because some kn*bs had been drinking continually all day and were making the drivers stop every ten minutes so they could get off for a piss.

This delay was about 30 minutes. Then they led us to a marshalling area which had two or three police vans and a large posse of riot police just standing there waiting for us to arrive. There was another 15-20 minutes delay here before the convoy took off surrounded by the police car and vans, blue lights flashing. Of course we now hit the rush hour motorway traffic and spent the next hour going at various speeds from 2 to 25 miles an hour on the most roundabout route they could devise. We kept looking for stadium lights in the distance but they never appeared. We actually passed the port buses on our right, stopped on a slip road trying to enter our motorway! The last 15 minutes was off the motorway through the back streets, with cops standing at every junction with hand held lights waving us through.

When we got there, they waited five minutes before they let us off the buses, and we then discovered that there was a four hundred yard run to the turnstile area in the dark (not half a mile like the video says, unless the port buses stopped further away). This was about 7.10pm.
By now, there were some seriously p*ssed off and tanked up jacks running to the entrance, only to be greeted with a line of riot police who funnelled us into a group of stewards for a pat down search. I really thought it was going to kick off at this point because the heated verbal abuse directed at the police was pretty obvious in its meaning, English speakers or not! Luckily I got through the turnstile before anything erupted, only to find there were about six flights of concrete stairs to run up. You can see the rest on the video. We'd missed the first 15 minutes of the game and Napoli's goal, which was scored as we were running up the stairs.

The kept us in for an hour after the match, a line of riot police in full gear blocking off the exits. This again had the potential to turn ugly, fortunately they finally let us out before it did. It took our coach about 5 - 10 minutes to get back on the motorway for Rome, confirming my suspicions that they had taken us all around the houses deliberately before the match to avoid confrontation with Napoli fans by ensuring we arrived well after kick off.

If you are a Porto fan reading this and planning to travel to Naples, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES take any official transport to the ground, make your own way there, and certainly don't take any port buses laid on.

This is spot on, although i caught Napoli's first goal.

Although I agree with the views about the delaying tactics employed by the Napoli police, we were on bus 4 from Rome, a journey that should have taken 2 and a half hours to reach the point where our police escorts were waiting. But 45 minutes into the journey we had an unexpected service station stop ( Mark from on the ball travel was surprised we were stopping so soon) from where certain individuals on our coach decided to steal alcohol etc and boast about it in front of the driver on their return to the coach!
We then had a second service station stop a little later.
On eventually meeting our police escorts we also were taken on a long winded route before we arrived at the stadium when our coach was called to the front of the queue and had "special attention" from the police we were all kept on board whilst the police got into position. We then had to leave the coach one by one holding our passports in front of our faces and were then all photographed! Thanks to a few idiots we were all treated as criminals!!
We got into the ground just before Napoli scored, not a nice experience being surrounded by shield wielding police and having to run up all those flights of stairs. But we could have been in much sooner if those idiots hadn't stolen things!
Being herded like cattle into a pen at the end of the game wasn't the best experience either.

I had heard about people stealing stuff from service stations but assumed it was either rumour or grossly exaggerated but as usual, when the majority behaved themselves, it seems like a minority let everyone down again.

I would take issue with your last sentence though. Nobody herded me like cattle into a pen. We all knew that "Swansea fans will be kept back for approximately 40 minutes, subject to congestion outside of the stadium" because that is lifted word for word from the leaflet that was sent out with every ticket. The only thing that caused any sort of crush was impatience by some Swansea fans while others either stayed in their seats or like myself, just ambled around in non-congested areas. Why some people were in a rush to get out of the stadium, I don't know because no bus was going to leave until the last person was on board so there was nothing ot be gained by being the first on board. There was plenty of room and no need for the crush at the top of the steps or near the metal-mesh gates because nobody was going to be allowed out until the buses were ready and the Napoli fans had been dispersed so, again, the friction was caused by a minority..

I was amongst a group of between 50 - 100 'herded in to pen'.
Once on the ground area with turnstiles to the left we were directed to the right at the bottom of the stairs.
It was a pen - a cul-de-sac; there was a row of students in yellow tops (stewards) in front of a chain link fence - after 5 or more minutes there (I just expected it to be a way out of the ground) Napoli fans 'somehow' got into the area the other side of the fence. When the Napoli lads hurled abuse and few items, a group of Swans supporters responded with shouts and attempts to get to the fence.
Just the right number of riot police then entered and pushed between the stewards and our supporters.
Thankfully the riot police kept calm and there was no charging or baton wielding.

There were minor crushes in some areas because stewards in different areas were telling the Swans fans different things. Some were being told to move and were herded forward in to others, only for another set of stewards to be pushing everyone back.

The friction was caused entirely by Napoli stewards not knowing what they were doing or deliberately causing trouble.

I would say the riot police realised there was going to be any real problem and were quite relaxed and kept calm.

I was in that area and it was not as you say, nobody was herded into any pen.

We were allowed down the stairs to another, larger holding area after the pushing and shoving up the stairs.

The trouble was started by swans fans hurling abuse at innocent Napoli fans and stewards.

FACT.

our fans caused the trouble within the stair/ holding areas.

I know what happened to me.
The Swans fans in the cage were quiet until the 'innocent Napoli fans 'came back in towards the Swans fans from the far end were also throwing things and chanting, and then left the stadium back the way they came. We had been there a few minutes before any nonsense started, but quite a few older fans wet getting ratty as we didn't know what was happening.
As far as getting there is concerned, I got the bottom of the stairs when I was directed to move by stewards who previously charged the Swans fans. The riot police moved the stewards at the top of the stairs to one side to let the Swans fans (who had been waiting peacefully) move as directed by the senior stewards. At the bottom of the stairs there was no crush and there was room to wait, There were a lot of student looking stewards in front of us and I was certainly herded , with some pushing, into the caged area.
You may have had a different experience but you seem very determined to accuse the Swans fans of a range of misdemeanours.

Pretty much spot on, but reactions only after a night of baiting and intimidation by Napoli who you just knew would be gone if they had the chance to back up their threats. As i said cowardly fans. By this time a lot of us had had enough.

We went on the underground. We met some Napoli fans who took us to the ground. They offered us a coffee before shaking hands and wishing us luck. We returned on the underground and were back in the hotel an hour before some Swans fans who came back on the buses.
