The yo-yo soon loses its bounce. Saints current destiny is to join the likes of Norwich, WBA, Coventry, etc as Championship also-rans. That's if we're lucky.

We saw towards the end of last season that opponents in the Championship had cottoned on to how to counter ponderous Russball. There's no guarantee that Saints would be even close to promotion next time.

By putting the ball in the back of the net Bree actually did lose possession. In fact he handed Stoke possession to an unmarked player as far upfield as the half way line. RM will no doubt have had a quiet word with the lad about the need to keep those possession stats going in the right direction.
