| Forum Thread | Cask Ale Ratcliffe/Dale Bar at 17:13 2 Oct 2024
Hello everyone, I've been considering the idea of introducing another cask ale, which has been suggested here a few times. Currently, we have MPA, which is quite a popular drink. On average, it sells two barrels on Saturday and one barrel during Tuesday matches. Both bars are served by the same barrel, with two pumps each. There are a couple of options: introduce a new cask for both bars running off the same barrel, which would mean losing MPA entirely, or keep MPA in the Dale Bar and introduce a different cask in The Ratcliffe. We must take wastage into account; once a cask ale is tapped, we have only five days to sell it. This is why it may sometimes run out at half-time, and we choose not to tap another one. Simply put, we cannot sell another 60 pints within the remaining time, and it won't last until the next home match. With matches scheduled for both Saturday and Tuesday, it might be feasible to attempt this. Over the past two seasons, we've featured plum pudding at Christmas from a single barrel, and it was well-received. However, I'm aware that there were supporters who missed their MPA. I prefer to supply both bars from a single barrel, as it's the most efficient way to reduce waste. However, I am aware that this may inconvenience some supporters if they cannot purchase their regular matchday drink, possibly resulting in a less enjoyable matchday experience. Please let us know your feedback Thank you |

Thank you for your acknowledgement, but lot of credit goes out to the bar staff; without their support and assistance, the bars would not be where they now are. JW Lees has also been outstanding in terms of deliveries, maintenance, and sales-driven support. Will provide a prime example. At the meet the director’s event, a cooler broke at the perfect time, leaving us without any cold draught beer. 😩 After a phone call to maintenance, a new cooler was installed and operational within a couple hours. The TVs in 1907, boxes, stadium, and so on are being looked into. There have been conversations regarding improving offerings and now that we have The National League TV, we can show our matches/replays, as well as the 5:30 matches. An engineer visited yesterday and needs a part. Hopefully, the fault will be corrected today and ready for Saturday. 🤞 [Post edited 13 Sep 8:24]

Unfortunately, we cannot broadcast away matches that start at 3pm due to the TV blackout rule, which prohibits the televising of English football fixtures from 2:45 to 5:15pm on Saturdays. However, this rule is waived during international breaks. Hopefully, this regulation will change in the future. The Aldershot screening was a success, it was the highest attendance so far compared to last season screenings. Since The Ratcliffe is only open for match days or functions, any additional income generated from showing live TV games will be beneficial. We have now upgraded the connection and will be able to broadcast the Hartlepool match on all screens and TVs. This improvement provides us with the option to open The Dale Bar room for additional seating if needed. |

Reminder for this evening The Ratcliffe & Dale Bar will be showing our match against Aldershot in full. Starting from 5:30pm Wrap up warmly. It's cold and wet tonight. However, if you prefer, The Ratcliffe will be showing the game. Unfortunately, this is only available to main stand or sandy lane supporters following kickoff. Access through the smokers yard at the back. The Ratcliffe is separate from the stadium, and work is underway to resolve the TV issue, but it is more technical and requires further investigation. This is being looked into. |

Hi Nerazzurri Queuing has consistently been an issue in Our Spot/Studds. The room is too small, leaving little space once halftime approaches. When bar staff are attempting to figure out who comes next, a single-line queue can be easier to manage and produce less tension. There is a 15-minute window to serve approximately 100-200 supporters, depending on the fixture. The Ratcliffe bar is also at its busiest; at one point, there were four lines from the bar to the window. But there is also more room because there is no furniture. I received reports that it was really busy on Saturday, with a line out the door. An additional member of staff was sent. I looked into CCTV footage today, and I've provided an overview below. 15:20 No supporters in the bar 15:30 No supporters in the bar 15:35 3 supporters 15:40 10 supporters 15:45 queue is at the door approx 50-60 15:50 queue is at the door approx 50-60 16:00 5 supporters 16:05 No supporters All bar lines around the stadium were cleared by 16:10 Due to away supporters using Pearl Street, we only have one entry accessible for the upcoming game against Forest Green, and we anticipate a similar-sized queue. A discussion is underway to try get the live feed back on the screens; I believe this would help because you would not miss something regardless of whether you visited sooner or after the kickoff. All bar lines around the stadium were cleared by 16:10 I can only apologise for the wait time, but I assure you that we constantly look for ways to shorten it so that we do not lose customers.
