We do need extra bodies, though. Would be better to buy players than loan them, but maybe we blew all the budget/FFP room last summer and can only bring in loans?

Yeah, that's fair.
Would rather have bodies behind Lloyd / Kolli than in front of them though. This lad will have been promised minutes as part of the deal I expect.

What's Chris Martin up to?
Oops was on wrong thread too.
To mirror my point there, as I know nothing about this, is there a thought that you take a loan like this from Spurs even if you don't necessarily desperately need it, because if it goes well we could get a far better loan for the whole season next year? Like a testing exercise?
Don’t see the negatives. Chair is either not fully fit or just not at his best. Smyth is being run into the ground and picking up knocks. Lloyd is apparently more of a striker now and Ashby is about as reliable as my first car so it’s an option for the bench most likely and probably an improvement on Bennie for that role.

I think the development of Morgan would have been noticed at Tottenham & that we have already passed that test.

Chris Martin the footballer is still at Bristol Rovers.
There can't be many footballers who have played for so many pairs of rivals:
- Both Bristol clubs - QPR and Fulham - England (under 19 level) and Scotland.
"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Yes, Smyth took a right kicking against Sheff Weds, so it will be good to be able to rest him and keep him fresh.

Yeah, there is a long term benefit for building a reputation as a club that’s looks after and improves your players (Kyle Walker springs to mind) but it’s still got to be in a case by case basis and unfortunately he’s coming into a crowded position.
b) he plays a bit-part role standing in for one of our own youths who would also have played a bit-part role, but will be sent on loan now to play a more significant role elsewhere.
And in case of (b), the loan fee receives more or less cancels the loan fee paid.
So in case of (b), we are effectively giving one of our own more game time elsewhere while still having the same cover.

All speculation.
We won't have an option to buy. Spurs only just got him, he arrived a couple of weeks ago. Spurs see him as a player for the future.
I am guessing we will be paying very little for him in terms of wages, if at all. They need the player bedding in to England, he is still taking English lessons according to an article I read.
Scored 12 goals in the K-League this season, seems like a good addition to the squad for me.
The problem I have is that we are not going up and we are not going down this season, I don't care if he is the second coming on Son Heung-Min, we are just developing someone elses player at the expense of using ones we own. I'd get it if we needed that extra quality to attack something, but we don't. We're a mid table side now.
Don't forget we have Dembele coming back in a few weeks. For the wide positions, we have 4 good players in Chair, Smyth, Saito and Dembele so I don't see the need for this loan.
maybe it's with a view to buying him in the summer or they just think he can impact us in the short term, we're still in the odd position of a good week away from the playoffs and a bad one away from bottom 6 so need to keep ticking over
Only makes sense to me if Bennie, who's probably been on the bench / got more first team cameos than was originally envisaged, is getting a loan as he's deemed ahead of schedule.
The club made a big deal of Emerson Sutton signing his contract yesterday. He's a very exciting 18 year old wide player. There's also Daniel Bennie, another great prospect who plays wide.
I hope Sutton and Bennie will get loans out this month otherwise why are we bringing in a loan player who'll block their path this season?
I don't like loans unless it's to buy, which this and Edwards clearly aren't. However.... We are bringing in quite a few 17/ 18-year-olds, so if we need to cover the short term, then loans make sense. We can't buy players in a panic that will block our development players.
