So emotional !!!

What a man !!!

An unbelievable achievement !!!

Cycling tours probably the most punishing, stamina sapping sport.

He's nearly 40 years old. So pleased for him as he would have just hated it for the rest of his days if he could not have done this.

Top man

Not that it means anything but maybe good bet for Sports Personality of the Year. .

History has been made today !!!

Fantastic news, thanks for posting

It requires a hell of a lot of guts to be a top sprinter.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

amazing sprint in and of itself - decided early that he didn't need to stay on the shoulders of Phillipsen, so broke left on his own and powered away with a good 500m to go. phenomenal sprint with some of the sprinters close to 20 years younger than him...

Can we not knock it?

I'm sad for Belgium though, it makes it even more difficult to name a famous Belgian.

Magnificent stuff, absolutely incredible.

The bottle needed to do those sprintsโ€ฆmen of steel. What an absolute legend.

Here's the clip of the finish - incredible ride from Cav, I love the way he bumps and hustles and out-muscles his way to the front, pushing it right to the max, all the way to the line....

Brilliant and a couple more stages left.

Mercx still the greatest, but Cavendish record is amazing.

Pogacar has 12 stage wins @ 25yrs which trumps both but Vingegaard might limit his chances
