Just got home from Colchester - what a shambles - all the local league sides around here are playing without any problems never mind a League 2 outfit! We hung around after the game was postponed and the stewards were not slow to point out that Colchester have pitch covers but did not use them, and today was the first rain for 4 days..........
The first we knew about it was as we pulled into the car park at 2pm and Radio Essex were reporting a pitch inspection - we have rightly criticized our club for poor communications in the past but today was really poor both in terms of protecting the pitch and the club's communications. On a more positive note my son and I got a free programme each, not sure whether you normally have to pay - do they come with the ticket or was it a goodwill gesture to fans?
Just watched the manager's interview on YouTube - refreshing honesty, both about Colchester's communications and our transfer situation. Might well be a very different team come the rearranged game!

Thanks for your take on the situation.....

Just hope that these "bids" to which RS refers are good and we have transfers lined up.

Looks like Halifax might be a good starting point?

If that’s the case there needs to be a serious complaint made to the EFL

They can't deal with a set of upfront shysters, let alone anything that's subject to the decision of a match official

Not yet - it will be via their ticketing site which isn’t the easiest to negotiate!

The Club statement from the Colchester Chairman is 'priceless' - particularly the section on why they didn't use the pitch covers on Saturday:

The rain on Saturday for our area was forecast all week and in the Colchester area it had stopped by 2pm and was lighter than expected. Apparently all the locals went to watch Stanway Rovers in the Essex League, a mere 2 miles away. They played without any problems.......

On their ColUTV, the referee said he arrived at 12.45pm to take his first look and didn't like the condition of the pitch then. Yet they didn't let anyone know there was an issue until gone 1.30pm. Ridiculous

Sounds like a right tosser. His comments on the criticism of his ticketing system are classic….he has decided what the ticketing arrangements will be, no consultation, no consideration of season ticket holders.

This bloke is straightout of the 1950s.

A laugh-a-minute character.
