I had a ticket for the game, but my daughter had a cup final to play on the same day.Guess which one I went to? Her final kicked off at 10.30,so at least I’d get home to see it on the tv.It went to extra time and penalties, which didn’t help with my timings, but she did save 3 penalties to win the cup for her team.I thought the celebrations and trophy presentation went on far too long myself, but we made it home just in time for the ko. I had to pick up my other daughter from work at ht and she finished later than planned,so I missed the first few minutes of the 2nd half. I thought we’d thrown it away with Barton getting sent off,but what do I know.
My brother was at the game and he said that city fans next to him were doing the slit throat gestures on 93 mins and wanting handshakes and hugs on 94.
And it is the only trophy my daughter has won in her football career so far,so it was a memorable day all round.
And the beauty of watching it from home was the joy of seeing the anguish on the faces of the Utd fans as the title slipped away.

Aguer - ooh !!! We're you at that game on 11:13 - Feb 26 with 3241 views
As soon as the ball was heading towards Mackie I knew we were going to go ahead and after all the pre match interviews broadcast around the ground about just how many Man City were going to thrash QPR by it was sweet as. Followed very quickly by many hundreds of City fans leaving early. Watching the Man Utd players on the big screen as the result from the Council house became known was a moment in itself too. After we finally left the ground to get back to the car, two City fans approached us and asked if it was true that City had scored twice after they left (part of the Mackie scoring departures) and we insisted that their mates had been winding them up and it had finished 1-2. Next season up there we went into a pub before the game and had quite a few City fans thanking us for them winning the title and they bought us beers.
The grass is always greener.

Never happy at losing but great credit to the players for not rolling over and 2 very fine goals.
Don't think there will ever be such a dramatic finish to a game of that importance, that our name is on that game is no shame.
Liverpool Arsenal a close second.

With you on both 2T2B - I've often thought about what would have to align to better that day.
I'll never forget this either:
There was a story going around that an Arsenal fan walked into a Scouse bookies prior to kick off and put an enormous cash bet on 0-2. Hope that's true.
Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Suffice to say a bit of a surreal day - but when Martin Tyler pipes up for the umpteenth time and yells 'Agueroooooooooooooo', it's always nice to say 'I was there'.
Funny but I don't recall any huge pre-match nerves. Of course there was a big Rs presence at the Lass O'Gowrie (is it still going??) beforehand, but I think we all knew City needed the win to clinch the title and most likely that would be what would happen. For us it all depended on the Stoke-Bolton result, and there was nothing we could do about that.
So 1-0 down at half time, to be honest I don't recall what was happening at Stoke even though everyone was keeping tabs on that game, I think I was just quite fatalistic about the whole thing. Then City cock up to let Cisse in and it's 1-1, game on. Traore for once in his life has a run and puts in a decent cross for Mackie to finish and you think maybe we are going to spoil their party. In amongst all that Barton gets himself sent off, down to ten men, but City are just as good as us at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory so maybe it is meant to me.
90 minutes and you think, is the game done? City fans in tears etc. It's probably not going to be a fun journey home for us but again at the time it didn't really cross my mind, we were ahead and in control of our survival. Then Dzeko equalises, typical, but it seems the news from Stoke is positive (how often do you type that?). A couple of minutes to go, the City pressure is relentless in search of a winner, do we really mind at this point if they score? The ball pings around the edge of the box, QPR players slide around in desperation as the ball comes to Aguero and he bangs it in. Cue bedlam in the stadium, Joe Hart doing cartwheels, not long after the final whistle goes, we're safe and City are Champions (never mind ManU, eh?) Tears and hugs from all sides and we stay for the trophy presentation. One day Rodders, etc.
So everyone heads home all smiles, arguably a lot more celebrating for the City fans to do. Meticulous Hughes tells us QPR will never be in this position again while he's manager (well, yeeees, strictly that is true). Meantime I look forward to another season of Premier League football and the midfield duo of Faurlin and Diakite crushing all before them.
Back to the station and I get on the train - then it hits me. How the fck did we throw away a 2-1 lead in the 90th minute?? Typical fckin QPR.

And thanks to you, I was able to go! Will always appreciate it mate!
I was right next to the City fans and was a so drunkenly obnoxious a fella threatened to cut my head off (deserved). Anyway at the final whistle with both fans celebrating we swapped scarves. Utterly convinced he would have smashed three bells out of me for taunting him about United when we were ahead.
Nice / sad follow up story, there was a City fan from Australia we met in a City bar afterwards who had come to spend his last few months of life in the UK after being diagnosed with the big C. I was well pleased for him and his family for that City win at least.

Reminds me of another day, Esox. We were up there in the late 80's and our coach broke down in the Moss Side opposite a pub with loads of City outside. There was a bit of a Western-style stand-off before we took a chance and went in and ordered some pints, only to be told they were on the house. Don't think we put our hands in our pockets for a couple of hours. It started a few years of getting on great with them. Always liked them. Funny lot.

No problem mate.I think I would’ve had a heart attack watching it live anyway.I’m glad it went to a good home. The story of the city fan with terminal cancer really moved me.When we went up there for the 6-0 defeat a couple of years after,we got talking to a few older city fans, and they deserve a bit of success after the crap they had to put up with from Utd fans over the years. And at least they aren’t Chelsea.

I was there, was an odd and really tense day. Train up was full of QPR and Man City fans and was all quite friendly, general feeling was if Bolton won at Stoke we were down so lots of signing Deliah and come on Stoke when we stopped there on the train. I don't think any of us expected anything other than a drubbing.
At half time I thought we were down and that was the first time that season I really believed it was over, i was gutted. The second half was incredible though, after the equaliser and then taking the lead the celebrations were insane. Man City fans were giving us the cut throat gestures and was all getting a bit ugly. There was genuine confidence that we would see the game out, City were clearly running out of ideas loads of fans left the stadium the atmosphere was really flat.
There was a bloke near me listening to the Stoke game on the radio so we were pretty upto date with the scores. When they got to 2-2 it was real panic stations as we kept on at this bloke to tell us the score. He confirmed it was over and we were safe just as they came into our half for the Aguero goal.
I can clearly remember jumping up and down cheering and shouting let them score and laughing. When they did score I actually got swept away with it all and cheered, I've never heard noise like that and seen such pandemonium with all sides of the stadium celebrating. Then I had a mad 30 seconds, my heart sank and I had a brief flashback to the 2010/11 season when a bloke near us had told us we were promoted with the draw against Hull at home so I ran on the pitch dancing and singing that we had won the league when in fact the bloke was full of shit and we were not promoted at all as Norwich won. I feared a repeat and was desperately trying to get a signal on my phone to see the full time scores but the reaction of everyone around me dancing and singing and hugging suggested we were OK, that was a pretty terrifying 30 seconds though until I understood we were fine.
We stayed to watch the trophy presentation, it felt like we had won the league and those City fans threatening to kill us were now coming over to shake our hands.
When we left the stadium I bought a T Shirt which Said Keep Calm and Carry on QPR are staying up. There were buses back into town but we shared a cab with some City fans who paid for the trip and were great people. Went to the off license where they saw my QPR t shirt and gave me a crate of beer for free for the journey home.
My phone had died so found a pay phone to ring my misses around 90 mins after the game, she had turned the game off at half time as she didn't want to see us get relegated and was convinced I was lying to her when i told her what happened.
The train back was memorable, i mean we were very pissed, my mate tried it on with a girl before realising she was only 17 so then tried it on with her Mum instead by singing Sade songs to her as the carriage all joined in singing he's a smooth operator. Surprisingly it didn't work.
Got back to Euston and was singing Joey Barton he chins who he wants which was very silly but made it into one of the following days match reports.
Overall part of me wishes we had won but then how it ended was so incredible it was just great to be there.
All in All a brilliant day

Was playing my last ever sunday league game in cup final whilst the game was going on. Had 2 Man u fans who were on the bench updating me of the progress from the sidelines. We went into extra time as I was informed we were 2 1 up but Barton was off. Boiling hot day in sunny day as I remember. Subs on the sidelines going very quiet as we managed to lose the cup in the last minute of ET. Final whistle went, ran to the clubhouse to see final whistle on tv and we had stayed up. Absolute carnage. Day of mixed emotions to say the least. 🤣

Now, THAT is a day out.
"The opposite of love, after all, is not hate, but indifference."
I was seat 1 row A right behind Joe bloody Hart you couldn't have got closer to the pitch or closer to the City fans. Spent time before the game trying to get a ticket for my lad Dave who was on his way up from Kent without a ticket. Met some lads from Norn Ireland who thought they had a spare ticket, never saw Dave but he eventually got in in the upper tier. Djibril Cissé actually screamed out loud when he scored (so did I).
The Armand Traoré cross for Jamie Mackie's header was the cross of the season, when Jamie headed it in I screamed again.
Joey Barton became the biggest c unt in the whole of Lancashire and surrounding universe.
From the 85th minute onwards the world stopped and so did everyone's mobile phones, all the rumours from other games suddenly dried up and it was difficult to know what was going on.
Nobody could have scripted those last 10 minutes of that game nobody, I bumped into Mel and Smegma a good half an hour after the final whistle and asked them both if it was right that we'd survived I just couldn't believe it.
I tried to call Dave from my car but all I could hear was one hell of a noise from a pub (I believe he met up with Clive from here) and Dave got home to Kent sometime Sunday.
On the way home I heard clueless hughless say on the car radio about never being in this situation again, I guess that's the only thing he got right.
I'm sure I read somewhere that that game held the record for a live TV viewing?
My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Yeah was there. Still irritates me to this day whenever I see the Aguero goal that we didnt hold on even though it was irrelevant! Though there was some great scenes after the game. Never been hugged and kissed coming out an away end by some of the home fans before!

Dave / Charlie did meet up with us/Clive after the match and shared the train back.
we went to the Coop to get some fizz for the train back, and the only thing that they had was Coop finest £5 cava, which tasted like drain cleaner. we drank it anyway...
Can we not knock it?

i remember walking back into the town centre after the game, and just saw lots of smiling faces, who were happy to talk to us even, though we were wearing QPR colours, and congratulate us on staying up.
Its kind of how you would want football to be - no hoolies, just happiness.

Tangentially to the main story; I was up at the King Prawn stadium in our 2010-11 promotion season a couple of hours before kick off and headed into a pub. Around 5-6 Leicester fans at the bar saw me and started talking about what a good season we were having and how good was Taarabt etc. Decent people I thought so I reciprocated with acknowledging what good players they had had over the years as far back as Gordon Banks and as soon as I mentioned that I had seen him play for them a feller bought me a drink. The conversation moved on and I said that I had always had a liking for Muzzy Izzet and that prompted someone else buying me a beer. 3/4 of the way down the pint I said that it must be my round now but they weren't having a bit of it and commented that I had seen most of the heroes that their dads talked about with reverence and were happy to have me reminisce about the likes of Steve Claridge, Frank Worthington et al. I stopped at three beers as I had to drive home after the game but I don't think I have ever met a friendlier bunch of away fans in my life. It more than made up for the time the Baby Squad chased me and my brothers down the road at Filbert Street many years before.
The grass is always greener.

Think I might have been the bloke with the radio listening to BBC Radio Lancashire which had Stoke v Bolton as their commentary game. Lost my phone when Mackie scored pure bedlam in the away end it got handed in to the club by someone on supporters coach went and collected it the next day. Remember cheering like a mad thing when the whistle blew at Stoke just as Hart was collecting the ball to start the final attack. Never seen scenes like the end both teams celebrating Got the train back to Euston stopped at Stoke and 2 young Bolton women got on had a good chat and drink trying to chat them up on way back . Sadly they were able to resist my charms

Watching at home on TV. Best memory is Traore skinning Kompany then delivering a pinpoint cross for Mackie. Cue me dancing like a madman around the room. I actually smiled when Aguero scored and said to myself it doesn't matter! It was only later that night after several glasses of red that I got a bit p*ssed off that we didn't win!

Great stories and one memory for those posters that will last a lifetime . Watched on TV and they went to the double screen with Utd players waiting around to accept the trophy with AF then City scored and they looked incredulous.Lost in the confusion I think but somebody said QPR were safe before that famous goal.We just booted the ball away instead of taking it to the corner so that led to the final attack. Watch both Documentaries from the Fans side and all the Commentators they are brilliant. Everytime I see that Aguero goal the same thought crosses my mind.He skipped over a desperate lunge by Ned i think to bury it but what if he got caught and brought down for a penalty .The pressure would have been incredible with the World watching and basically a score or bust .

I ran a coach that day, and we must have had the driver from the Italian Job as we were outside The Kingsway in Levenshulme before 11.30 as I had to bang on the door for them to open up. The rest of the day was eventful, highlighted by one of the Met saying to me on 90 minutes, that it was going to be wild outside only for it to be a love in. Whomever started the 'We won the league for you' chant, well done. Obviously, I have had to include this day in the new book which will be out shortly.
