Supporters Trust, mediation and additional legal action threat in today's SWEP. 19:39 - Sep 7 with 6250 views | Wingstandwood | A two page spread (Pages 6-7) with the headline: "ONE DEADLINE PASSES-BUT SUPPORTERS GROUP IS STILL HOPING FOR 'MEDIATION' WITH SWANS OWNERS"............ Apparently the deadline passed on August 20th. What also interested me was the threat of other-different-extra legal action just so the Trust can gain requested/required information deemed vital. "But the Trust are ready to take legal action in order to obtain access to certain documents related to the takeover, should a request to see those papers not be granted in the coming days. "As part of the mediation process, the Trust requested access to various pieces of documentation relating to the 2016 sale," the statement continued. "These documents have not yet been received. On the advice of our legal team, the Trust board has instructed our lawyers to initiate legal action to obtain access to these documents, unless they are provided within a further 7 days. "This is a limited legal action specifically to obtain access to these documents. It is not the same as undertaking legal action relating to the sale itself and its impact on the Trust’s shareholding. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/new-twist-dispute-hea

What does seem unusual (by comparison of bygone past) is the way South Wales Evening Post seems to have awoken from its slumber regarding the shenanigans of the Yanks, Jenkins and sell-outs. TWO PAGES who would have thought that! Some supporters have complained about a previous lack of interest and lack of cutting edge reporting from their local rag regarding the takeover etc. Times seem to have changed? What I assume to be unusual also? Is the contempt heaped upon even more contempt of which the Trust/supporters are a recipient of......Not once, not twice, not three times, a case of?... More and more and even more after that!

Probably of no consequence to them, if it was the Washington Post and the DC United forums that would be different.

Many global news stories start local and are then picked up by bigger channels etc. There was a local story on Facebook in Pembrokeshire about Vue cinema tickets being twice the price of Cardiff in Carmarthen. It was in the Western Telegraph, then Wales Online, and then the nationals and then on The One Show, which was not good news for Vue. Perhaps the Trust should look at having a PR department and send press releases to the likes of The Washington Post, New York Times etc. Also national UK media. Wind up the Pressure. Also perhaps someone should send them a copy of the Evening Post article. Hit them where it will hurt. The 26 investors won't be too happy to see such stories appear.

Good post. In regards to your last paragraph, I think the yanks don’t want to (or have been advised not to) engage with the trust, so as not to legitimise or recognise them in any way. Remember the key issue here is still the original shareholders agreement. HJ, the sellouts and yanks “defence” rests on them not knowing about or not being bound by the shareholders agreement. The trusts case has its foundation on the fact that even if certain parties were not signatories of the shareholders agreement, it would still be binding, as the club always operated as if it were (I can’t remember the legal terms). The yanks are being very careful not to take any action which could prejudice any future legal proceedings (which is looking increasingly likely) by acting in any way to be seen as giving the trust any more influence than that of any insignificant minor shareholder. Either that, or they are just being disrespectful to what they may see as a bunch of amateurs they were told by the sellouts were an irrelevance. The fact that the trust are the fans and therefore thier “customers” representatives doesn’t seem to have registered.

Which is why the club employed Gareth Vincent around the time of the yanks getting involved, the ideal person to shush his previous local media colleagues. The timing was no coincidence.

After many posts berating the Trust to "get on the front foot" using whatever media they can, it's great to see them trying to educate the fanbase on what's happening and has happened as regards the sale etc. Should start to please those of us who voted for legal action. Does me! It may lead to an increased membership. It will certainly lead to more understanding about the Anti Board chants through the games. May even lead to more joining in. Never know. Provided we're all united behind GP and the boys on the field, no harm being done there. Congrats to the new Trust Board for starting to "stick it to the man" Keep going

Try looking at the bigger picture FFS What I was trying to illustrate was that stories start local and are then picked up. Look at the main point of the post and the Trust definitely need to up the game on the PR front and get some headlines in the USA where the owners are probably considered the dogs boll###s. Do the 26 even know about the controversy? [Post edited 8 Sep 2018 10:46]

I tend to agree that the focus is on the money not the customer as you say, but I'm not sure the customer is seen as a priority right now. I think that their defence is very weak with regard to ensuring that the minority shareholder rights were maintained. Levien says he was told not to engage the Trust. This will look like a schoolboy excuse in court. If he knew what he was doing he would have checked in with the Trust. If I was buying another business I would talk to everyone especially those who I was told not to speak to. [Post edited 8 Sep 2018 10:52]

It's a story of interest for DC united fans so don't be surprised if it does get picked up over in Washington or it becomes a talking point in their version of football focus.
