Joey Allen 18:38 - Oct 6 with 17143 views | Jack1 | Of all our transfer f**k-ups in recent years, not re-signing JA has to be up there with the biggest of them all. I'll admit that I've not been quick enough on the uptake of this, but since the inflated transfer fees in the premier league occurred, the short-sightedness of the board (knowing that the new tv would come into effect) is staggering. £13m is an absolute steal. Why didn't they see that this would have been a great deal when they knew the tv deal was coming into effect? I know that this is stating the obvious to many on here, but, I'm genuinely stunned by our boards short-sightedness. [Post edited 6 Oct 2017 18:45]

Joey Allen on 19:22 - Oct 6 by Glyn1 | OK I get it that we should have signed Joe Allen. All of us said that at the time, including me. But that's got nothing to do with Clucas, so give him a chance. Personally I don't think that we should have sold Jack Cork - the Burnley fan forums think thst they robbed us. |
As Swans fans thought we’d robbed Southampton for the £1.5m we paid

Joey Allen on 23:33 - Oct 6 by Garyjack | Brilliant post. Many of us stated that £13m was to much for him. But we are posters on a messageboard. Not someone who is paid half a million pounds a year to project future income and increases in transfer fees. Our chairman has become an utter fvcking joke. Resigning his position should be the first step he takes before apologising to the fans for being an utter tvvat, then publicly binning his OBE! |
Gary, what also muddied the discussion was the comments that he should be bought for 13Mill "to replace Leon" when many (some) of us knew that he never was and never will be a Britts replacement. The argument got skewed so the replies were not accurate and yet, as you indicated, someone earning a shedload of cash who was not affected by our histrionics couldn't fackin see it... or thought that he was Mr Levy and could out negotiate them - please get rid of big nose NOW!

Comparison with Clucas shows state of Board that they'd pay £17m or so but not stump up £8m for Joe. Anyway how long does a player get to prove his worth in your opinion? 6 matches, 10 matches?

Joey Allen on 22:13 - Oct 6 by ZZoric | .........the possibilities that we can muster a CM with the same qualities that Allen has - all forged at scfc - a potent blend of Leon/Ferrie/Pratley its our heritage - the swansea way is founded on the strength of our midfield "edge" Allen is the epitome of our edge |
The Swansea way? It's a myth mate in that it's been the exception in our history rather than a rule. If by that you mean the midfield as you say, then in my time of watching us (40 years) then we've had this swansea way for about 1979-82 (maybe) 2007-13 That's about 9 years out of 40. I appreciate that burrows kind of tried it, but swansea way I don't think so. The swansea way is something that Martinez brought and was nurtured and refined by Sousa, rogers and Laudrup. Subsequently destroyed by HJ and his playing dOF. Having said that the Swansea way when we've had it has produced the best football in my time watching us but this chasing it is increasing,y looking like for a unicorn. It's a set up and attitude for me. It's not something you can just say ok, return to footballing principles and return to the Swansea way. It doesn't work like that. It works with the right leadership and direction, the right recruitment and the right players. The right attitude, the right foresight and ability to totally believe in what you are doing.
Joey Allen on 10:57 - Oct 7 with 6896 views | dameedna | Yeah it is a more than fair salary. But Huw Jenkins is very successful. Allen wanted to take ten times what the chairman takes out of the club and looking for a 4 year contract. That is some serious wedge for a midfielder who does not score regularly. Good on him that he plays for his country but no way am i going to bend and accept the complete shite muttered. [Post edited 7 Oct 2017 10:57]

Big problems when Joe went off, we were left with Williams, King and Ledley.. Republic wouldn't have given away so many free kicks if Bale had been playing.

They knew exactly what they were doing. With Allen out of the game any threat we may have had was lost. We should still have had a draw though

As it turned out, a draw would have seen us eliminated. BUT at least we would have taken those dirty fockers with us!!

Do you think he will score on Saturday ? I think we missed out on a proper player there .... Should be under discussion, I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up on here.
