They both went over the top in their goal celebrations for one ,in my humble opinion if I am allowed to have one of course.
“The problem with today’s world is that everyone believes they have the right to express their opinion AND have others listen to it.
The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!”
Tony Ellis was a right irritating get when he played against us and he was a cult figure at Dale, would anyone really go so far as to say that Redshaw is deserving of such anger?
When he came back with Morecambe he was given a welcome back applause, all was lovely, he scored a goal and did that edgy 'shush' gesture to a stand that wasn't giving him any grief. All very awkward and embarrassing to watch.
I never said you weren't. Why have you said otherwise?
Which Perkins' goal do you mean?
What about Grant Holt's celebration when he scored for Shrewsbury at Spotland.
Sorry not aimed at you yes Holty did as well but those two I just do not like in my opinion they are both horrible people (without knowing them on a personal level)

God forbid that a former Dale player celebrates a goal he scores against us.
Do you have the same ridiculous animosity towards Grant Holt, who scored an absolutely fantastic goal against us at Spotland, whilst wearing a Shrewsbury shirt ?
He ran to then Shrews fans and milked it for all it was worth. He deserved the accolades and the adulation. It was his job to score goals.
Same for Jack Redshaw and all other former Dale players who appear in opposition teams.

I can sort of understand why you didn't like Redshaw's celebration (although it was no worse than TK's v bury), but which Perkins' goal do you mean?
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?
God forbid that a former Dale player celebrates a goal he scores against us.

"... they are both horrible people (without knowing them on a personal level)" My favourite quote of the day, which is pretty incredible considering the other news today around the world.

I personally hate this not celebrating against old teams nonsense. It's egotistical rather than respectful to a former club. Redshaw didn't celebrate a goal though, he was a dick to fans without any real justification. Had he been booed and stuff then fine, but he wasn't and just looked like a dick for doing it, which was sad considering his Rocky style story of getting back into the professional game.
Personally I couldn't care less. I will however love him should he score tomorrow and do the shush gesture to the fans as a celebration. It'd be instant legend stuff.
There would never have been an issue, until Ellison celebrated his goal at the Pearl St on his return, pointing to his name on the back of his shirt. Couldn't have even given a toss about him to be honest, pretty irrelevant, it was as if he fabricated some kind of vendetta we had against him and it has evolved over the years. I hope we don't give him grief, but in the same breath, hope we don't kiss his a**e. Please don't sing his name until he has won us a couple of games.

What an excellent post. Horrible people because they over celebrated against your football team. I give up.
My personal last memory of Jack Redshaw was of him getting dry humped by Kevin Ellison after he put Morecambe 1-0 in front of the Sandy. They lost that day and I can't remember him playing against us since. He might have done but not stood out in any way.
Two pantomime villains in one go in that instance.
Were I strengthening in this window then it would be at the back, not the front, but in Hill I trust as always.

The back 4 does need a bit more depth with the lot of them insisting on spending half their time suspended, but injuries to Davies and Thompson have forced Hilly's hand. I was sceptical about Redshaw after his antics playing for Morecambe but it's a position that needed an extra body and we've got one.
Just taking a moment to think about it from Redshaw's perspective ;
We were his first real club. He was cosseted at city and used to the trappings that come with playing for such a team. He speaks with Dale and believes the sales pitch. Joins us with the fixation in his mind that this is where he'll make his mark on the football world.
Within 6 months it fails apart. Contact cancelled and he drops more tiers and out of the professional leagues.
He knuckles down, works hard and eventually gets back into the professional ranks. He comes up against that first team, perhaps he harbours a grudge magnified by his youth at the time and the fall from grace. He scores against that team and all that feeling rises to the surface and he over celebrates.
Understandable? Or perhaps he's just a little @#!*.
Football at this level isn't well enough paid to expect blind loyalty and I for one just hope he's grown as a person and does the business for Dale.

His 1st visit back he scored both against us in a 2-1 win for Morecambe. I think all he did that day was either put his finger on his lips and do a shush? Or cup his ear? Hardly Adebayor against Arsenal! He's the type who seems to annoy the opposition,a bit of a pest to play against and hopefully pace and an eye for goal. I've got a good feeling he'll do well under Hill this time.
He's a good catch for us. Picking up on his interview he did say he has been injured this season but now ready to play. Living in Salford he's only 15 mins drive away (drives a Testarossa) so Dale is a good fit from that angle. If he did join permanently he would have to get used to a lower pay packet I suspect, that being the only downside.
But it just underlines, yet again, that Rochdale AFC is a well respected club these days. Getting a play-off place would add to that respectful image and we can attract similar talent in the future.
