The club needs a reboot, whoever the new manager is they need to be able to work with the DOF and also have the desire to work with the academy coaches to develop a style that will run through the club seamlessly so that there can be a strong emphasis on player development. I appreciate that other academies may have more resources and be more attractive, but if the club can show there’s a genuine high quality pathway in to professional football AND high quality career support for those who don’t make it the club can do well. Changing managers, changing players etc can be an expensive waste of money so it needs to be more evolution than revolution. Who the new manager is idk, but they’ve got to get it right. |

They aren’t a political party, they are a limited company. |

Lots of good points in this thread, which to be honest is an issue I’ve never really given a lot of thought to. Greyhound racing is something which appears to have been in decline for a long time and there are significant concerns about animal welfare. That said, I’m not convinced that it is something the WG should be banning. |

Derby have been poor, but they’re a well supported club who this season have average 28,000 st their home games. There’s potential there. |

Resloven has a point about the nature of the area, albeit he could have articulated a little better. The area is a mixture of urban and rural and covering such a big area with many remote communities does make it more expensive, but the fact a bonus has been paid out in my opinion is very very poor. How can customer funds be used to pay bonuses when we’re pumping #### into the rivers! It’s mental. |

I’m a patriotic Welshman just like a lot of the posters on here, but this Welsh heritage has s complete BS. The club has to appoint the RIGHT person for the job regardless of nationality. Laudrup arguably gave the club its greatest achievement, Martinez laid a foundation which Sousa built upon and which Rodger’s eventually tine tuned to get the club promoted to the Premier League - none were Welsh. The right person must be appointed - end of. [Post edited 17 Feb 23:20]

If the club is shelling out compo, then the new manager is highly likely to be someone who’s out of work. The bookies list is in my opinion mental. Russ FFS !! He left for Southampton and there was talk of litigation etc, I think we can file this under BS. Gerard……l.another mental bet. He ain’t coming here, not got the kind of money to pay him and no money to buy players. Cooper…. Club is in a worse state than when he left….no chance. To be honest I’ve no idea who to give the job to and more importantly who would take it. |

It doesn’t say exactly why, but Birmingham City Council effectively declared themselves bankrupt last year and have to make enormous savings. The event is big and I’d imagine that while the organisers would be shelling out a lot of the money they’ve raised, they'd have previously been supported by the City Council who’d have done the street clearing up and maybe some crowd control barriers free of charge. Thousands of people of the @@@@ is a lot of extra head work. Maybe the Council have turned around and, given the financial constraints told the organisers they have to pick up the entire tab, including for example road closure orders, crowd control barriers, street cleaning, highways teams etc etc. It’s an expense that would soon add up especially on a Sunday with OT implications etc. [Post edited 17 Feb 0:26]

It’s early days and we have to see what they propose. We need to approach things with an open mind and see what’s proposed and asking searching questions. |

This could be a potentially a huge issue for many people, particularly those who are older or have existing conditions who may find the cost of insurance unaffordable. If people think that they are going to lose access to healthcare, it could be a real problem for Farage/Reform. |

Boundy is 100% on the money in his comments about 2.5% of GDP being spent on defence. To be honest I think it needs to be a little more to make up for the underinvestment over the last 15 to 20 years. Another thing that needs to happen is some serious @@@@ needs to be kicked regarding our defence procurement contracts acts, a lot of them are years behind and over budget. They need sorting. |

Reform did very well at the last GE, but their vote share wasn’t reflected in the number of seats that they actually won. Their manifesto had more holes in it than a Swiss cheese and it was completely uncosted, but they still did well. They have had a groundswell of support and with decent candidates and a solid manifesto they could do very well. I think Labour have had things their own way for too long and ruled the roost for too long. I’d like to see a hung Senedd where parties work together for the common good. |

Unfortunately it seems a lot of the politicians we have representing us are strangers to the truth, we deserve better and we should scrutinise their behaviour and hold them to account. If they transgress and their motive is malicious, then they should be out on their ear. If someone makes a mistake in good faith, then we should be more sympathetic because if we aren’t fair, it will encourage people to be dishonest. Nobody, absolutely nobody be above the law, or the rules. In terms of Boris, he may be a chancer but he’s manifestly dishonest and in my opinion totally untrustworthy. I wasn’t the first to mention him in this particular thread. |

There were blatant lies over Pincher. Boris / No 10 repeatedly changed their story which ultimately fell apart when a Sir Simon McDonald wrote to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards to confirm Noris was briefed in person. His own ministers eventually had a guts full of the lies, after Sajid Javid resigned there was a domino effect. [Post edited 14 Feb 20:20]

With regards to PPE, we’ve yet not really got to the bottom of what happened with some of these so called “introductions”. What we do know is that a huge amount of money was wasted. We also know Mone is under investigation and Hancock’s former pub landlord got a big contract despite not having any previous experience in that line of work. These are issues which have happened here and some are currently under investigation. Hopefully we’ll get the bottom of it. In terms of Siddiqi, that’s happened in Bangladesh and we need to see what evidence is produced by the new regime. If she is involved, then she needs to be held to account. If it’s mud slinging and malicious allegations by the new by the regime, then we can take it from there. She’s quite rightly out of her ministerial post and we need to see how this pans out. In terms of freebies, they’ve all been at because it’s clear from the register of interests, but they look bad under Labour and Starmer has made a serious error of judgement. Boris’s actions and conduct are much more than just trying to cover up disorganised conduct. Some examples include:- Lying over Northern Ireland trade and customs paper work as part of Brexit. Parties Renovation of the flat Lying over the Pincher business Patterson Reports he tried to get his girlfriend a £100k job at the Foreign Office (reports in The Times were pulled after No 10 intervened). Cummins - Barnard Castle Unlawfully proroguing Parliament I have never voted Labour and where they err I will criticise them, but in my opinion the mistakes they have made are nowhere near the mistakes made by Boris and Truss. We have a right wing press who are hyper critical and on occasions making mountains of mole hills to perpetuate a political narrative. If we had an impartial press, the previous Conservative regimes would have been slaughtered, instead we had on many occasions conspiracies of silence. |

You’ve got to be joking! Your attempt to play down Boris antics and compare it to what we’re seeing from the new government is staggering. It’s clear from your postings where your allegiances lay, but Boris was much, much worse than anything we’ve seen to date from Labour. Boris was much more than a simple clown, the guy was an immoral chancer, a dishonest proven liar who could not be trusted. The current government are coming up short, but we’ve not seen anything like we saw under Boris. The Siddiqi may or may not be guilty of malfeasance. Bangladesh is among the most corrupt countries in the world, so it’s entirely feasible her c tended family were at it, however it’s possible that she is not involved and the new Bangladeshi government are just dragging her in to it for political capitol as has happened elsewhere in places like Pakistan which is actually less corrupt than Bangladesh. I sincerely hope there will be a full and thorough investigation of Siddiqi and if she is found to have transgressed she gets the book thrown at her. [Post edited 14 Feb 13:39]

The case is a bit of a pigs guts! The officer should have included all the evidence in his first statement and let the CPS have all the facts so they could make an informed decision. Having to submit an extra statement as part of the Victim Right to Review process doesn’t look great to a jury. Think she may get clobbered on costs though. |
