What a turnaround! We've seen some boring, ineffectual performances this campaign. Recently, Dale have been very effective. Last night in particular we were wonderfully entertained. Several people on this forum have said for months that we have the players to be a really competetive team at this level but they weren't being managed well. Recent games have seen a change few expected in that respect. Jim and the lads have certainly found their mojo now, and it is a joy to watch. Thank you. More of the same, please.
There's £12million worth of debt still being disrespected by the giggle lane thieves. And that £1million unpaid mortgage from the early 2000's. And a former owners investors who were conned. And those who bought car park spaces at giggle lane.
Disrespect knows where it lives and it isn't at Spotland. We won't be disrespecting Spennymoor Town or the FA Trophy at all, on or off the pitch.
Indeed it is a results business, especially in the league. No wins and just 4 points gained from the last 18 available. 2 goals scored in those 6 games. Both away from home. 0 goals scored in 4 home league games so it fails on the criteria of an entertainment business as well. Our eyes tell us this over those games, and many others. With a "play-off squad" budget.
Tranmere sacked their manager almost immediately last night after yet another dismal result. I hope we win on Saturday, but there is only one option available if we lose. That's where we're at.
For the third home league game in a row, Dale have been outplayed and embarrassed. We have scored ONCE in the past 5 league games. Dale are mostly bloody boring to watch, whoever they play. Entertainment? Where? No mention of the above in a post-match manager interview which screams weakness. Apparently we, exclusively, struggle to play twice a week. Not that anyone else has to. No apology to fans for how awful we have been or how to remedy the crisis. He's even apologising in advance for next Tuesday when we play a part-time team with limited resources, but they have bags of team spirit, effective tactics and effort. Things McNulty's Dale don't. They have also drawn three and lost two of their last five games, just like Jim's full time Dale have, so why the high praise? Tippy tappy tripe has been a theme throughout McNulty's management here. It's ineffectual, and he can't learn that little lads playing like that in this league does not work unless you catch Yeovil or AFC Fylde on a bad day. Plan B is to launch it to a forward that very very rarely wins the ball in the air. Seemingly, that's all we can do. Post-match conversations with fellow supporters have been depressing to listen to, but make sense. Being realistic, we are going nowhere at all repeating this managers same old same old philosophy of failure, and that disrespects the owners and fans of RAFC. What McNulty puts on the pitch isn't acceptable at any level. It is wet lettuce football. The boos he got when applauding The Sandy were well deserved. Folk have had enough. Bye bye Jim, all the best.
If we look at the last three home performances, anyone can turn us over at Spotland / COA - top of table, bottom of table or in a "derby". It is that easy.
Otherwise engaged tonight, so haven't been to or seen the game. The record shows our defence is sound. Messages from friends and what I read on here are so much in agreement. Shot shy, toothless up front, pass pass pass pass pass pass, nothing. There is also pass sideways, pass sideways, pass sideways, pass backwards, pass sideways, pass backwards. Nothing. Repeat ad infinitum. This has been the way for so many games this season. It's boring, ineffectual and drains enthusiasm from lifelong fans. It was said at the last Fans Forum, we as fans need to play our part to encourage better attendances. Agreed. We won't lie that bad football is good to encourage family and friends to watch. Project 5000 is not going to happen as it stands. We need to be able to go into the local, club, workplace etc, and sell great football. What we see is Project 500 football. Change the football or change the manager if he can't change it. We can't sell what we are seeing now. Jim's excuse of our goalscoring failure(s) in the post-match tonight is awful. Thank you Sam Waller.
Haven't seen that game but there is a lot of online comment about Mr Oliver's officiating last night.
As for this National League season, It's no worse than League 1 or 2 for refereeing standards. The ever poor Marsden was weak v BIFFO's but in general, the refs aren't terrible in this division IMHO. Seen much worse from the likes of Styles, Walton, Marsden et al in the EFL in years gone by.
There's been a fair few post-match interviews by Jim where he states "performance" is the main thing for him, irrespective of result. He doesn't state that after the awful performance v Ebbsfleet and dances round the awful performance v Oldham. Unconvincing, Greg.
It's been mentioned in other posts. I don't like the guy but his apology for his team providing rubbish, with a team that was awful, is honest. He aims for change, apologises to travelling fans and takes responsibility. Dale fans travelled from Malta to watch that aberration v Oldham. Our manager gives them nothing. Speaks volumes, Greg.
This thread has been proof of what sincere, committed and loyal Dale fans have observed in the team that represents us now. Nothing nasty, just thoughtful, honest reflections of an awful game yesterday, and last Tuesday. We aren't "professionals", but we have watched far more football concerning RAFC and learned accordingly. We want to make it better.
Fans remarking on tactics seen at that game that are, frankly, making our team worse. Tactics and processes that we've seen repeated far too often under this coach. We want to make it better.
He's been given funds and chosen to allocate wages on far too many similar players, because he likes samey. That's naïve and wasteful, especially in a league that requires a few big lads. We've had a good result here and there that is true, but RAFC is so obvious to opponents, and easily disabled in its one strategy. (Yeovil is clearly now a one off). We want to make it better.
Either Jim changes his approach or Jim has to be changed. No malice, we want to make it better for RAFC.
