Sorry BDB, on this weeks, Hearts play Ross County, not Aberdeen. Aberdeen are away at Dundee. |

Not good for those with expensive train tickets already booked, panicking about how to get back, for them to move the game 2 and a half weeks before the game for a game that is now on at the same time as the England v Ireland game. Absolutely scandalous for it to be re-arranged for TV this close to the game. As someone who works with Premier League clubs and hotels around fixture changes, the notice for this is ridiculous, the Premier League announce their fixture changes 6 weeks before fixtures to allow for fans to make alternative arrangements. |

Was having this discussion on Saturday, Rickie Lambert, Paul Simpson and Lee Todd are the immediate ones who spring to mind. Lambert especially, a free-kick was as good as a penalty but Simmo was top class as well. Lad I was talking to mentioned O'Shaughnessy but that was a little bit before my time! |

Looking at the picture on the Fleetwood twitter page which included an unfamiliar face, the trialist will have been Rico Patterson, not Rico Browne. Patterson is an attacking midfielder. |

Bailey isn't a striker. But the first year pros aren't players who can come off the bench 15 times a season or offer a genuine alternative option at first team level at this point in their careers. Youngsters coming in on loan have either had more experience in the first teams at EFL clubs, maybe in cup competitions or they're from much higher standard academies and therefore a higher ability level. We need a bigger squad this season because we get more substitutes. We have a bigger budget and it would be daft not to use it to our benefit. |

Cameron John found his level last season but can't be relied on to play a full season either so I wouldn't have even offered him a deal in the first place, let alone want him back now. He was also poor at centre back and only really looked good when he was getting forward. There are options out there, there will be a loan market to utilise too for all of those positions. I actually also think we probably need another centre midfielder, an experienced one, maybe not too dissimilar to the Clayton signing in terms of profile. Another forward I think is important too, to be able to change things around. We need a bigger squad this season and we're going to need more options than we have. |

That's a good post TS and you know I find it uneasy agreeing with you! There's been no buzz this summer. We've had a successful takeover that has saved the football club by the Ogden Trust and while I get that there's lots of work going on, it really does look like we've failed, or are failing to capitalize on it. There's been no family fun day like last year because the new kits still aren't announced, hell, the team are even having to play in last years kits at the minute. There's evidently been an issue, and I've got my own assumptions but wouldn't speculate on here but it's really poor on that front. Season tickets are down because it's barely been marketed and when it has been advertised, it's been done at a time where nothing is going on. I don't know the figures of what season tickets were last season but I suspect we're down on last season. Part of this will be the style of football, I'm not a fan of it either, but a bit part of it will be because the optics of the situation are that the club just assume our loyalty is there regardless of what's going on and so they don't need to try and entice people back. The pricing of season tickets can't be argued with in all honesty and so it won't be that putting people off, but there has to be a buzz around the club and there just isn't. And given we've been saved from extinction by the family of someone brought up in Rochdale and is one of the wealthiest people in the country, it's mind-blowing to me. You could argue that people shouldn't need to be enticed back, but they do, and it's not like we're only aiming to get renewals, we desperately need new supporters through the gate as well. The last home game of the season was over 12 weeks ago, the first home friendly isn't for another 10 days and there's been no reason to get up to Spotland in all that time apart from to meet the new board and Joey T charity match, no training day, no fun day, no kit launch, no major fan engagement, one big interview with the manager spread over three website stories. It might sound like moaning for the sake of moaning but I was expecting an exciting summer after the takeover, and there's been very little. |
