Shout out to Merthyr Town
at 00:32 1 May 2024

Barry Town fan in peace .....

I have fond memories of old Southern League battles with Merthyr, like Barry they are a fans-owned club and I wish them well. However, the Genaro Adran you refer to is the women's league! Think your lads will struggle in that!

Retiring . Who’s think about it?
at 13:15 19 Mar 2024

I am 55 today -Yippee -and an age where I have some serious retirement decisions to make. I am self-employed and doing OK - I am able to select which contracts I accept and the clients I work with. As I'm now age 55 I can now access my occupational pension (not as much £££ as if I'd waited to age 60 but I get it 5 years earlier and it evens out over time) and I can access a few savings and investments squirrelled away. My last 'full time' contract will end on Good Friday and I'm then only accepting contracts that last weeks rather than months so I get added flexibility as to how I spend my time. I had an accident at work a few years back that put my out of action for a year and deprived me of the facility management business I'd built up over a decade - I was fortunate to survive, others injured in my accident succumbed to their injures and are no longer with us - and this combination of fate and fear forced me to face tough decisions about changing how I view my life and my priorities. Work insurance paid out into a compensation fund and I've invested this sensibly, so I've worked out I can 'pay the bills' via the occupational pension, the interest on the compensation & investments and drip feeding the pension lump sum over the next few years. I will continue to work simply for spending money and to keep the cognitive and social functions adequately oiled, but I enjoy what I do for a living anyway so I don't view it as 'work' or as a 'job'. I will spend more time with friends and family, finally take those trips to places I've not yet visited, buy a Swans season ticket, walk the dog on the beaches across South Wales each morning, rent a villa in Benidorm each winter to escape the worst of the Welsh winters (the wife is easier to get along with when she has sun on her back and sangria in her veins!), dig the old Lambretta out of the garage and enjoy summer ride outs, slowly tick off the 'DIY Jobs To Do' list, enjoy pub lunches with mates and maybe take on a community role in my village, might even accept a mate's offer to play walking football, but above all remain appreciative of what I have and remember that life is great. Whatever you do in retirement, please enjoy it, appreciate it, and treat it as if it doesn't last forever. COYS.

Agreed.
A full strength on-form TNS side would compete against lots of League 2 sides, had some decent results in European football over the years.

Good to see a decent turnout at Barry. I know Barry have made an effort to make the event welcoming for both sets of fans. Lets hope it translates to a few quid being spent in the wonderful social club.

Swans U21 through to the Nathaniel MG Cup final
at 14:16 4 Jan 2024

Previous finals have been screened live.
Final will be tough if NTS get through (as is most likely). Will be interesting to see how Swans U21s line up against a genuinely full-time TNS team who are, in my opinion, bottom half League 1 / top half Conference standard when they play well.
Might be a decent attendance at Barry as plenty of local c****ff fans chatting tonight about popping along to support tNS !

General concensus of opinion on transfers this evening?
at 00:01 2 Sep 2023

Club finances looking solvent for a season or two after banking the Piroe, Obafemi, Morgan, Benda, Lati, Ntcham transfer money, and the compensation for the management team.
Sell Cabango / Wood next summer and that cash keeps us self sufficient again.
The owners playing a blinder?
Can’t wait to see what Duff can do with this squad

Gone to Barry 😂 Obviously never gonna make it here then...
at 23:33 31 Aug 2023

Obvious bias as I watch Barry Town whenever there’s no clash with the Swans, but the Welsh Premier is a tough league for a rookie 21 year old developed in academy football. Barry were desperate for an additional centre half & it’s a fantastic opportunity for Ben to play every week & develop his game. Best wishes to Ben.

Michael Duff : Masters of our own downfall
at 19:57 12 Aug 2023

So if Duff is claiming it’s a hangover from Martin and he’s frustrated with his team playing like a Martin team, is that a hint most of last seasons team will soon be benched? New keeper, 2 new full backs & another defender to come in, some great new talent in midfield and Yates/Joel up top doesn’t suggest there will be many of the ‘Russ brigade’ left in a few weeks!
Assuming 4-4-2 we have (in my opinion, so far)
Rushworth
Ashby, Key, one of Wood/Cabango/Darling, new defender?
Allen/Grimes (if he stays), Patino, Cooper
Piroe (playing behind) Yates & Ginnelly
Not many of Martin’s crew in that starting 11

Cymru Premier/Cymru N/S
at 20:27 19 May 2023

Small budget compared to other clubs. A fans-owned club without big money outside investors so its always an uphill battle to compete with wealthier clubs. Think Barry will do well and stay up, develop the younger players coming through the successful academy, then build on this and challenge the top teams in a year or two. Barry are better than outsiders give them credit for. Some great weekends away in North Wales to look forward to.
