Gutted. Tino had a poor game today. Finish off some of those glorious chances and we are home and dry. Very disappointing result.

Groundhog Day. Boring and predictable. We've come through a period of winnable games with too few PTS. Can't see where a win is going to come from for the rest of this calendar year. Wolves didn't do so bad against an 'on fire' Liverpool today.

The Armstrong situation is odd and it's looking like there's a big issue with him. It's seems Ralph doesnt like players to be better at their jobs than Ralph is as his.

This game reminded me of the forest game just before Christmas 2008 ? where we lost 0-2 and was the clear indicator that the season would end in relegation as it did to league 1.

Not gutted today just BAU under the current regime.

Thought Tino played pretty well today, Redland's decision making was as bad as ever and he lost the ball all over the park. But Romeu's foul in front of the box is what lost us the game. We were the better team and nearly everyone put in a strong performance. We need to close a game down and to lose in the last 4 minutes is gutting.

Ahead of the game, I could have bet my mortgage on that result - and Saints scoring first , missing opportunities and then succumbing to a late equalizer. The report would consider the first 85 minutes or so as a success - team played well and there were few if any underperformers, though Lyanco looks like an accident waiting to happen, strong but lacking composure. The last 15 minutes were a disaster, poor game management typified by two howlers by JWP the misplaced pass and then standing on the goal line for that late free kick. Need to learn to play keep ball against 10 men, surely!

Another 2 point lost this time it was captain crap Prowse that lost us the points!

Romeu gave the free kick away and WP played two of their strikers onside. Pitiful from the two worst players in the Prem.

According to Ralph, McCarthy picked up a hamstring injury in the second half (bringing on Lewis probably not a good idea). I imagine that's why JWP was on the line for the free kick.

Once again we fall apart in the second half. How do we control and maintain possession in the first half and then be seemingly unable to not give the ball away or know how to get in position in defence, for the last third of the game.

As I understand it McCarthy was injured at the end, perhaps that explains JWP's seemingly mad move. Lyanco needs to calm down. Tino needs a rest, KWP needs to play on the right and we need someone on the field to shout louder than Ralph.

Tella was a bright spark, Redmond got his assist and Broja showed composure. Could do with a bit more end product tho.

A point isn't a disaster but unless lessons are being learned it's going to be very tense later on this season.

UGH!! - So pissed off at JWP right now. HE lost us this game with that ridiculous pass to the midfield instead of heaving it down field , which led to them getting a free kick. The he decides to run back to the goal line for whatever reason. As McCarthy (we now know) was injured, he should have started on the line and the moved forward quickly when the wall blocked the shot, then Maupay would have been off sides for sure. How do we we keep doing this to ourselves?? It is so frustrating and the players dont seem to learn. We are making basic mistakes that are taught to kids and these errors are costing us games/points.

Just a welly upfield away from 3 points!!!!
We were happy to sit on a 1-0 score line and were content not to take a chance round there box. Yet continued to take chances around our own. Total domination of a game that ended up 1-1 and its difficult to comprehend!
Livramento had a poor game and desperately needs a break to recharge, JWP is nowhere near last seasons form and we have developed a habit of sloppy passing, which shatters some excellent work.
We have just drawn a game that should have been closed out earlier and we have again been punished for not pressing our superior play when we are on top and thinking we could just hold onto the ball and see the game out.

oh and I turned to the person next to me and said McCarthy just pulled his hamstring on about 60 minutes,
So if I saw it why didn't Ralph or one of his assistants, or one of the players pass it on.
McCarthy himself should have gone down, at least that would have given the management team an input!!

Very predictable. Great first half. Game under control but poor scrappy second half (yet again!). Awful pass from Ward Prowse leading to the free kick. Then as rightly said if McCarthy was injured start on the line and come out and don't run back at the last minute. Game management was very poor at the end (yet again). McCarthy should have flagged up how injured he was much earlier to allow Lewis to have come on before the three subs were used.

How many times has Romeau given up a free kick near the end of a game near the penalty area a lot l believe. This giving games away and costing us 3 pts is embarrassing, somebody needs to put there hand up and take responsibility that would be all eleven lm afraid. We could off been comfortably in the top half this season,so damn frustrating watching this happen so often.

Don't know what to say, but I'll try, after seeing my team loose 2 points in a stupid way in minut 98. - against 10 men.

Good first half. Excellent Broja goal.

With no further substitution possibilities (Claude Puels favourite plural noun, I know) Brighton had to play the 10 minutes of added time with 10 men. With about 3 minutes left to play JWP throws the ball away which leads to Romeu fouling a BHA player just outside the penalty box receiving a (one match suspension) yellow card. McC sets up a good wall, but out of nowhere JWP runs back almost to our goal line to protect the left post area, milliseconds before the freekick is taken, ultimately meaning that the rebound ball into our box - after an effective wall block - finds a totally onside Maupay (due to JWPs position) in the box, and Maupay - the little irritating French man - blasts it in from close range at the right post.

2 big mistakes from JWP it seems, but after the game we learn that JWP was allegedly called back by McC because McC had a huge hamstring problem (which he allegedly kept quiet about) making him less mobile and extra fearful of conceding from the free kick, and, post-match, Ralph angrily blames McC for the goal.

I'm not sure whether blaming McC totally is fair, because I'm sure there were more than me who wondered why Lyanco took a goal kick for McC a few minutes before the equalizer. Could it be for other reasons than an injury? No.
Didn't Ralph and his staff see that?
Didn't Ralph get to suspect that McC had a problem? , and if Ralph did, why didn't he get someone to ask McC what the problem was or - even better - tell an outfield player to order McC to immediately raise his arm and go to ground, asking for treatment, so Ralph could get a chance to analyze and decide whether to bring Harry Lewis on?

Can't believe we didn't win.

McC had a pretty good game apart from being strangely involved in the equalizer btw.

Broja's goal was superb. Real classy.

However, twice he had options to put someone else in with an easy shot at target. Once it was Tella. Then when the cross was behind him and he scuffed his shot James WP was right behind him, whole goal infront and 10 yards out.

Broja needs to be more clever sometimes. Looks like if we start him he may get us 10+ goals a season, though.

I didn't realise that Ralph holds another unwanted top flight record 71 PTS dropped from winning positions

Are saints in such a dire position that this acceptable? Is Ralph going to change his constant tinkering falling out and isolating players? If it's true that he was aware that McCarthy was injured in the second half surly he had to act and bring on a replacement keeper. That's not tactical naivety that's plain stupid. It's the managers job to instill confidence into a team and Ralph has done the complete as saints are unable to keep their nerve in games

Why is Lewis on the bench if we’re not going to use him?! Massive knock to his confidence keeping an unfit McCarthy on the pitch. Really stupid

What’s the issue with Stewie Armstrong, he certainly isn’t injured

Deja vu again. Play pretty well first half, score & lead.. Then Ralph has his halftime talk & it's another lack luster 2nd half. What on earth does he say. The last 15 mins against 10 men was just woeful. No real effort until after BHA equalised thanks to 2 howlers from JWP.
Has anyone told JWP when he takes corners to aim for a red shirt, obviously not. What is the point of Salisu's long throws, just pointless.
Is Ralph the only person who can't see that Tino needs a break before he's burnt out, he's a great young player but his performances are dropping off week on week.
On the plus side, Broja's a handful & Ralph didn't use Walcott.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has blamed Alex McCarthy for their 1-1 draw with Brighton. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59535538

Should have added that along with a poor display from Tino today Tella was also poor. Constantly gave the ball away and conceded pointless fouls halting promising attacks. He has great pace but if there is no end product it is wasted.

Does anyone need anymore evidence to prove Ralph needs to go. I can't believe he is all over the place, blasting McCarthy for his professionalism, when HE should have seen the issue.

How many more games do we suffer before the board have the balls to do what needs to be done. Or will it be relegation for us again.

SaintPaulVW added 12:13 - Dec 5

I've been puzzling all night about how Ralph and the bench didn't know that McCarthy was injured.

Even if McCarthy wasn't telling them, JWP and Lyanco clearly knew by their actions that there was a problem - why aren't they telling the bench? Plus why are the bench looking at Lyanco taking a goal kick and thinking 'this is fine'?

If he was injured after 60 minutes as some have suggested, why is McCarthy spending the 10 minutes while the Brighton player was being attended to not letting anyone know he has a problem and getting some one to look at it?

Aside from having a fit keeper on the pitch, just making a substitute would have used up the clock. Surely everyone Bench, players, staff all knew this.

I don't get what went so wrong?

It saddens me that we could be so unprofessional in so many areas. Reluctantly I must conclude that this must be down to the manager. Does any other club make its fans suffer like us. So angry and frustrated, come on we are better than this.
